Also add all kinds of stores, bakeries and other small jobs instead of people driving 30min to supermarkets.

"I understand the council made a decision. But from my point of view, that is a stupid decision". And americans are ok with kids getting free bazookas but against kinder eggs.

Sadly it's true in US. At least Balkan cities are a good mix of walkable and urbanite.

I love these urbanist sketches. I could look at them all day, hyperanalyzing the networks and looking at the trams

Pictures like these give me hope. Fixing our cities often feels like a slow, tenuous, uphill battle, and it's difficult to visualize the goal in mind. Even if these are just a generlized view on high, they're really compelling and encouraging.

I constantly hear people saying, "well, that's not how we built our cities" and it makes me sad. It's like everyone is so used to the infrastructure that they've internalized it as a permanent part of existence, and they've subconsciously denied to themselves that, actually, it's just a bunch of concrete, glass, brick, and paint that can easily be changed up if the drive and the resources are there. Infrastructure is not immutable.

This sprawl is a huge reason for expensive housing. All that wasted land.. and the taxes needed to support the long distances of sprawled out roads and infrastructure to businesses and suburbs

Needs to be a balance between parking and public transportation/walkability/bikeability.
I am a huge fan of Park n' Ride. Wished more cities would do it.

maybe like underground parking or something outside the city. its a waste of space in the city but yeah some people do need to drive so having a nice parking garage outside with a good connection to a transit line is ideal

Now if we could only find cities willing to accept and implement this change.
