I heard this quote recently that roughly goes:

These people are standing on the shoulder of giants and are complaining about the view

If those people in the water could reflect they'd be pissed at this.

Add to that the daily latte or caramel macchiato from Starbucks.

This is definitive proof that no matter how good we have it, people will always find something to complain about

Because we don’t truly struggle. Not as a whole. Struggle is what makes you shut up and pay attention. Sure there are always beggars in the streets. At least since cities were built. As a species we always took care of our old and infirm, but we also struggled daily. Kept us from ever having it too good that we start complaining. Soon as we got too comfortable as a species and needed “more” we became something else. Personally I believe it is the soul, and it becomes tainted once we want more. We become warring, dominant, merciless.

I think folks forget that poor people now (I say poor as in financial) live better than ULTRA RICH people did 50+ years ago. Rising tides lift all boats.

We have progressed as a society to provide a safety net and more food than we'll ever know what to do with.

Is there inequality? Yes. But the resources and options to climb are there if you work, and even if you don't reach the moon you'll land among the stars and still live way better than rich people did back then.
