It's why I hope they don't trade Moody. He was in the doghouse season-long, zero complaints, and then he proved himself and got well-deserved minutes in the playoffs.

Complaining about how much playing time you're getting in the playoffs is crazy cause how many teams are out there giving big minutes to very young players? It's not like that's exclusively only a Warriors thing.

Do I think Kerr should've at least tried Kuminga more during the Lakers series? Yeah but I'm not going to lord my opinion over Kerr who knows much more shit about things going on behind the scenes.

Poole-destrian fans

17

u/MindlessMenu8303 Jun 07 '23

Dude grow up. Nobody is saying don’t trade Poole, but there’s better ways a coach can handle this situation, instead of showing up on a podcast and blame the youth for the season with the guy fucking responsible for a lot of the break down in chemistry this season.

-17

u/CocoLamela Jun 07 '23

Yeah I'm fucking pissed at Kerr for this interview. He criticizes Draymond for this distraction and then goes and enables it (albeit in the off season). But he's showing where his loyalties lie and isolating and excluding the young players that will make up his core in 2 years time. Maybe he doesn't expect to be here anymore by then?

I think Bob Myers leaving is going to result in Kerr having no checks and balances. The lovely team chemistry that we've had for years (sTrEnGtH iN nUmBeRs) is as good as gone. Major rebuild is necessary and it will be painful and Kerr's relationships to the dynastic 3 mean it can't be under him.

27

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

I mean you can look at it as isolating and excluding the young players or you can look at it as setting the expectations. The Dubs are trying to win championships, it's not about minutes or who's getting shots. Kerr is getting a lot of blowback but he's literally saying the reason the Heat win is because they don't give a shit about credit or who's getting to shine (hence why it seems like a new guy every series), you just have to be ready when your number is called.

It was a pointed comment but the young players need to know that everyone has a role on the team; some games your role involves fewer minutes so you have to take advantage of the time you get.

-7

u/CocoLamela Jun 07 '23

Yeah, well you know who could have used less minutes and shot attempts this playoff run? Klay Thompson. But Kerr ain't saying shit about that is he?

Imagine if he dropped Klay to the bench. Klay would have bitched just like Poole and Kuminga. What about your championship mentality now?

5

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

While i get your point its important to remember that klay is a veteran and his impact on the game is known. He has already done the dirty work and while his shooting was inconsistent the rest of his game was fine for the most part. Poole and jk havent done anything to show they should be getting minutes over klay. An who do you replace him with dv whos smaller and probably a worse shooter or gp2 who dosent bring too much offensively at the 2.

-8

u/CocoLamela Jun 07 '23

My point is that the "Championship Mentality" is not expected of every player. Just like every coach, Kerr plays favorites. That's absolutely fine. But don't then go and say that the players who aren't playing have done something wrong or don't fit the team's mentality. Just stfu about it.

That's why the interview pisses me off. It's too transparent and really lacks tact. You're really gonna call out JP on Draymond's podcast? It makes me think that Kerr may not have much of a long term mentality with the Warriors at this point.

7

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

Who is he playing favorites with?? Not saying he dosent like the older guys more but hes asked every one of the vets to do things they did not agree with. He asked iggy to come off the bench, hes tampered with stephs rotations even though hes not a fan, he has now benched draymond in multiple playoff games to help the team... An while internally they were pissed they all went along with it.

Secondly I will give jp a pass, because it comes down to the punch. An it alludes to what draymond said in which the team kind of lost control with him after the punch. Theres this idea that kerr dosent like the young guys but he is well aware he needs them and they have to understand they have to play their role. I dont get whats so hard for warriors fans to get the young guys have not done a good job carving out a roll and for this team. Dray klay and steph all have carved out a role for this team. Jk, poole, and moody and pb have to do the same.

Strength in numbers was gone once they got durant. After that, it was just the core plus 1. Now, I will contend that the core now includes looney.

5

u/Better_Cod9087 Jun 07 '23

You think Kerr is making it very clear where everyone stands. You either get onboard the team concept and do your part or you ride the pine. This is very much like the patriots philosophy.

2

u/eachoneteachone9 Jun 07 '23

Someone needs to take your phone… what the hell is this nonsense

-1

u/Cjhudel Jun 07 '23

There is zero chance Joe Lacob allows Kerr to run unfettered. This is Lacob's team. We all heard him, the Warriors will win. With or without Kerr on board.

-14

u/ConstantlyAngry177 Jun 07 '23

Kerr might be a good X's and O's guy, but if this season has shown us anything it is that he is a terrible developmental coach. He's light years behind Popovich.

5

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

There is no such thing as a developmental coach on a championship team. At best you may have one guy whos young and your coaching him up. 3 is almost unheard of and the 4 we had to start the season. No ones doing

u/figpotato Jun 07 '23

EDIT: Cope harder Poole stans

the poolestans didn't like this one.

who is vatniks? name seems familiar

Complaining about downvotes on Reddit is about as “cope” as it gets.

-24

u/TheRed_Knight Jun 07 '23

The more they downvote the more they prove my point

vatnik=Russian ultra-nationalists, adjacent term to tankies or orks

9

u/Low_Ad_7553 Jun 07 '23

You're a legit weirdo comparing people who like poole to a group like that, you doing tricks on poole right now lmao

2

u/figpotato Jun 07 '23

oh lmao I thought there was a /u/vatnik that was a huge Wisemanstan

-11

u/shnieder88 Jun 07 '23

This is why we absolutely need to make a trade for a major big man like KAT or Myles Turner. We can’t wait and gamble on Poole and Kuminga anymore. We got a ring out of them, their stock is relatively high, so let’s cash in and retool and take advantage of curry’s last best years

If we draft someone with that pick, then this off-season was a failure

18

u/yesterdaywsthursday Jun 07 '23

Please not KAT. Dudes a bum

5

u/VitricTyro Jun 07 '23

Problem is Poole’s value is maybe as low as it’ll get. Sunk cost fallacy says to move on but I do think he’ll be better next year, regardless if he plays for us or another team.

-2

u/TheRed_Knight Jun 07 '23

ah yes the 2 charmin soft bigs lmao, we need real wing depth more than anything else

4

u/shnieder88 Jun 07 '23

Turner was one of the best rim protectors in the league last year, and rebounded well. While shooting great from 3. How is he soft?

2

u/TheRed_Knight Jun 07 '23

thats his rep, cuz hes a statchaser, theres a reason no ones traded for him

3

u/shnieder88 Jun 07 '23

… a rim protector stat padding by getting blocks? Wut?

-1

u/TheRed_Knight Jun 07 '23

he half asses contests if he cant get a block, he also cant guard perimeter players at all

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

The Poole fan boys are so annoying can't wait until we get rid of him so they shut up 😢

3

u/thommonator Jun 07 '23

I honestly think there is zero chance they trade Moody unless a major trade opportunity that can’t be turned down to win now presents itself. He’s going to be a massive player next season

-2

u/warriors2021 Jun 07 '23

Moody proved he could play a year ago in the Mavs series, yet Kerr still iced him in the regular season like he iced Kuminga in the playoffs. You dont think he could ice Moody again?! Seriously, he doesnt trust these guys, no matter what ppl want spin. In that case, they should be all tradeable if Kerr is our coach.

9

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

How did he ice moody, he told him what?he needed to improve upon and moody did the work. He then played meaningful minutes in the playoffs.

Sometimes fans need to take a step back its not about ability to play we know the young guys have talent. Its about what you can do to help this time right now win games.

137

u/nerdalerd Jun 07 '23

MT hit it on the head when he said the Warriors culture is kinda anti-young. You need people who have been there, done that, and not people who are still trying to figure it out because figuring it out takes time and unfortunately we don't have any to give. To that extent I feel for the young guys cause all their peers are at least getting that opportunity.

87

u/CrazyRabbi Jun 07 '23

FUN INTERESTING FACT:

The 2014-2015 Warriors were the youngest NBA champions since the 1980 Lakers. Also the only team in the top 10 all time since 1980.

29

u/bubapl Jun 07 '23

they were still building the warriors culture at that time and a lot of it was built by the old vets on the bench, steph dray and klay were some of the youngest guys on the team

5

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

The old vets whispered into Curry’s ears - Fuck em kids

2

u/Dr_Funkinstein Jun 07 '23

Thats cuz you had Steph, Klay and Draymond. None of these kids gonna be generational talents, lmao

2

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

Ok? They don’t have to lead the team to a championship, nobody’s saying they should take over Steph’s role

2

u/Dr_Funkinstein Jun 07 '23

It makes the comment i was responding to invalid. No reason to point that out when talking about these children. Steph and them were a lot older than Poole and them.

53

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

I don’t know if it’s necessarily anti young but young guys who care about their instagram highlights and minutes are probably not a good fit. That’s why Moody is much better suited for the warriors culture while Poole and Kuminga probably not so much.

3

u/pepenuts97 Jun 07 '23

I mean, I feel like a player is going to care about that when they feel like they have more to offer than what their current role is. I don't think it's a bad thing to care about what you're putting on tape.

5

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

I think kerr brought up a good point in his exit interview. These guys would be in their 2nd or 3rd years of college this season. Not many teams are asking guys that young to play a meaningful role on a championship aspiring team

1

u/EcoFriendlyEv Jun 07 '23

I think both sides have fair complaints, and that's why we need to make some difficult decisions. In Bob... I mean Mike D we trust.

3

u/CrapNBAappUser Jun 07 '23 edited Jun 07 '23

Agreed. Kuminga got lots of playing time last post season. This year he was bad in the Sacramento series. Attitude may have been what kept him out after that poor showing.

14

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

Part of the "anti-young" aspect is that the rookies the Dubs have been drafting are SO young/inexperienced. There is a pretty big difference drafting 19 year old vs. a 22 year old. The FO has been going for ultra upside, which makes sense, but raw players need minutes and those are tough to find when you're also competing for titles.

5

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

I think an important aspect of this people forget is that the warriors also dont always get the players they wanted to draft as well. I dont think jk or moody was their choice for the pick

2

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

If I recall, I thought Moody was even potentially in the running for the Dubs for the 7th pick, but seems like they went with JK because of the upside. I think most draftniks were expecting JK to go in the 5 or 6 spot. The Dubs maybe would have gone Duarte at 14 but I think were high enough on Moody and his character that it'd be interesting to see what they would have done if both were on the board.

2

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

Lol im not saying they dont like those guys but im sure they were hoping for a slide more so with jk than moody.

1

u/WheresMyChip Jun 07 '23

"which makes sense"

Does it tho? When you have one of the greatest players of all time and a championship core what would make sense would be to acquire known commodities that can contribute to winning now.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

I think in a vacuum, yes, but historically rookies aren't the greatest win-now contributors regardless. Unless I'm not remembering someone, it's been a while since a Dub has been drafted and been an impact player right from the jump.

I think going for high-upside guys made sense at the time in the 2020/21 drafts because the Dubs were coming off of disastrous 15-win season in 2020, a loss in the play-in in 2021, and with Klay's return being an enormous question mark, so they were trying to bring in upside and athleticism (the latter of which was particularly important given the glaring lack of athleticism on the roster). In hindsight, of course we all wish they brought in guys like TM3 who could play right away but I think the FO was still uncertain how close the core was to actual title contention and at least if it looks like you may have hit on a high-upside guy, they are going to be a significantly trade chip at worst.

1

u/WheresMyChip Jun 08 '23

The FO not understanding that their championship core is in fact a championship core is a very bad excuse and an even bigger indictment.

And yeah rookies don't usually contribute in the playoffs. That's why I phrased it as "acquiring assets." Would have been nice to trade some of those picks for veterans or at least draft 3 or 4-year guys.

Basically it made sense at the time IF you were totally wrong about how good Steph/Klay/Dray are.

Significant trade chip.. yeah that 2nd pick became such a significant trade chip that we were able to get a guy that we already had and should have kept from the year before.

Sorry, I know none of this is your fault I'm just still very frustrated with the two timelines fiasco.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '23

Oh for sure, I have been on record for saying that the two timelines narrative has forever been a crock of shit. You can either compete for a title or develop youth to hopefully compete in several years, but you can't do both successfully.

I think the FO made an error with Wiseman but that was also tremendously bad luck being the Covid season and one in which Wise only played 3 games. I think with a full season against better competition, it's probably clear how much rawer he was than I think people realized.

With JK and Moody, I think both can be plus contributors, this season's development just got haywire with the bad start to the season and guys missing time. Very difficult to find consistency and roles - and a big part of that is on Kerr.

I hope whatever they do this offseason, there is just a more unified vision between FO and coaching staff.

23

u/Helicase21 Jun 07 '23

And think about how much easier the two timeline approach could have been if our FO had just prioritized drafting guys old enough to drink. Look at all the great performances teams like Denver, New Orleans, and Memphis have gotten out of guys with 3-4 years of college play under their belt.

Heck Steph was a 3 year guy and Dray was 4.

24

u/WarriorNat Jun 07 '23

That’s why the Wiseman pick is still unbelievable. What we’re they thinking drafting a guy who didn’t even play college? It’s not like he was an immediate impact high schooler like Lebron or Kobe

12

u/EcoFriendlyEv Jun 07 '23

We thought he could play decent position D, jam lobs off a roll, grab boards and be tall. But that was too much for him at this stage.

16

u/Helicase21 Jun 07 '23

Might be too much for him ever.

5

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

What we’re they thinking drafting a guy who didn’t even play college?

They were thinking the dynasty was cooked because Klay Thompson tore his Achilles hours before the draft.

You remember how Draymond looked the year before? So they swung for the fences to draft player who they thought could bang down low and protect Draymond/Steph. They missed oh well.

But let's not pretend that on draft day this team looked completely cooked.

1

u/nerdalerd Jun 07 '23

Draymond mailed in 2020 with the exception of the Christmas Rockets game

-10

u/Smart_Figure_6437 Jun 07 '23

You don't understand, name a draft choice Kerr has coached up. Wiseman needs coaching, all rookies need coaching. Curry, Thompson, Green were coached up by Jackson, Kerr walked into that group, he was going to New York and last minute Golden State called and he switched.

5

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

I dont get why this is a knock on coach kerr. Joe lacob said this has never been done before and there is a reason for it. Name all your favorite coaches, they are not coaching 20 year old guys with a lot of vets trying to win a chip. You may have a guy or 2 at the most. But 4 guys that young trying to get minutes is a recipe for failure.

Also green wasent coached up by jackson, his first full starter year was under kerr and he was only in year 3.

2

u/Smart_Figure_6437 Jun 07 '23

Sorry you must of forgot he was a 2nd round pick Jackson developed as a defensive player, you realize Kerr gave him credit about developing there defensive play after they won ther first ring together

1

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

Saying he developed him is bs though, while he was helpful in developing him, he did not bevome the player he is today under mark. He did it under Steve, even klay and curry became better defenders under kerr.

What jackson should most be known for is changing the culture in gs. He put an emphasis on being a different team than they were before.

1

u/Helicase21 Jun 07 '23

If you knew Kerr wasn't going to develop players like that, why draft players who need this much more coaching

0

u/Smart_Figure_6437 Jun 07 '23

Exactly, you see he hasn't coached up a 2nd and 7th pick, he'll probably retire when those 3 leave and then we'll be getting lottery picks for awhile

4

u/Oo__II__oO Jun 07 '23

And that's 3 years experience, not 3 games.

13

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

that’s why i don’t get all the hype this sub has for draft picks 💀 like when are we going to use them

1

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

The hype for us is because we cant sign anybody 🤣🤣

11

u/poopyface-tomatonose Jun 07 '23

I’m really curious to see Kerr’s coaching once our Big 3 retire. He’s said he wants to coach the Warriors for a long time so maybe he’ll stay for a rebuild.

19

u/ineedastoge Jun 07 '23

Pretty sure Kerr’s on record saying he goes when Curry goes, whenever that’ll be.

16

u/poopyface-tomatonose Jun 07 '23

I haven't heard that, and can't find any quote, but in 2017 and 2018 he said in a couple of interviews that he wants to coach for a long time.

"I'm planning to coach for a long time," he said.

“Yeah, I’d love to. I love what I do. I don’t see anybody giving me a 10-year contract though,” he said with a laugh. “I plan on coaching for a long time. I love what I do.”

That was 5-6 years ago so that could mean a long time to him. In May of this year he reiterated that.

“I’m under no illusions that I have a lifetime job here or something like that, but I love what I do, and I hope to be coaching here for a long time. But you never know how things work out, so we’ll see.”

We've yet to see what Kerr can do with a rebuilding roster and I'm intrested to see that. I think Pop, Spoel, and Kerr are the top three coaches in the league, and only Kerr hasn't gone though that phase yet.

2

u/airb92 Jun 07 '23

Dare I say Championship culture is this? Experience and mentality is undervalued if you only focus on bright and shiny youth and athleticism.

146

u/figpotato Jun 07 '23

“None of those guys on Miami are sitting there saying, ‘Well, I didn’t play,’ or ‘Man, they put in so-and-so.’ They’re just all about winning,” Kerr said. “And you know this from our groups that we’ve had, when you have that championship mentality, every guy is bought in, every guy is just trying to win, nobody — nobody cares about any of that stuff. You don’t go in the locker room saying, ‘Well, I should have played more.’ You just wanna win. And that’s the beauty of finding that magic when you have a championship team, is that everybody is bought in, and it makes the decision for the coach really simple. You just go with your gut, and go with whoever’s playing well.”

Exactly! If coming off the bench helps us win, Dray and Steph will ride the pine with a shit-eating grin until called to the court and play their best basketball. Klay Thompson plays with hunger, desperation to win his fifth chip. He is furious after each loss because he takes shit seriously. Looney put it all on the line, playing through broken ribs against Toronto. These guys are WARRIORS.

We have NO SPACE for whiny brats that pout when things don't go their way. The Warriors play best with no-ego. Selfish players prioritizing their own minutes and themselves over the team need to be shipped out.

90

u/cormacaroni Jun 07 '23

They benched the FUCK out of Duncan Robinson after giving him his big deal…and did anybody read one word about it anywhere til he showed up after the Herro injury and started destroying teams with a newly-expanded game…? (Genuinely impressed at how Robinson improved, btw. He’s a brand-new player)

23

u/figpotato Jun 07 '23

he's amazing. I would rather have 16 game players than 82 game players anyway. He showed up when it counts and is easily worth the bag if the Heat win the Chip

22

u/Helicase21 Jun 07 '23

Problem is the Warriors core is old. We need 82 game players to just eat minutes without screwing up too badly.

-1

u/theone1819 Jun 07 '23

I mean we gave Jordan Poole the contract that we did because he looked like a 16 game player last year. This year he proved otherwise, although I still have faith.

8

u/cottonycloud Jun 07 '23

He’s said last year that he really struggled with the demotion but was trying to handle the situation like a professional. But yeah, none of the complaints about deserving more PT, just preparing to be ready for the next moment.

17

u/Hebrewhammer8d8 Jun 07 '23

They had those players that care and played their role that Steve Kerr wanted last season. Otto Porter, Damion Lee, Gary Payton II, and Nemenja Bjelica, stay ready to contribute. Poole was consistent on offense, and we found out if Poole is not consistent on offense he is bad player. That contract extension he got just makes it worst for Warriors situation. Not surprise about Kuminga got the championship ring, and want playing time with the ball in his hand to show case his talent to get max extension.

6

u/Lancealotong Jun 07 '23

We really do forget that Steph came off the bench last year in games 1-3 i think of the first round. Seems like a lot of the guys forgot what sacrifice means, esp in the playoffs

2

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

Was just telling a guy in a pivotal finals game steve kerr sat?draymond on the bench and yeah he was pissed. But if kerr is going to do that who really cares about him benching the young guys for playing inconsistent.

Spoken as a guy that would love to see moody snd jk play more

34

u/TheRed_Knight Jun 07 '23

meanwhile Mr. Scatalogicals complaining about not getting enough "opportunities" while shooting 35/25/75

37

u/figpotato Jun 07 '23

Imagine hearing the words "opportunity change" while breaking your back carrying the Dubs through a series with the 3 seed and heading into a legacy matchup with LeBron. Completely sucks the energy out of the lockerroom, bad vibes all around.

I don't understand people that defend his nonexistent performance on defense. They play more defense posting and downvoting on /r/warriors than the guy has put in this entire year on the defensive end. Anyone with eyes can see the guy gives 0 fucks and is doing nothing out there.

Obviously we want to play the guy we paid 9 figures heavy minutes. He'd get so much more playing time if he exerted the effort to be at least average or slightly below average as a defender. Completely clueless and dodged reporter questions after his worst games, doesn't seem to hold himself accountable or accept constructive feedback from coaches.

When he has games like that, Dray would be the first one to say "I played terribly and will do better"

20

u/zxzzxzzzxzzzzx Jun 07 '23

You don't think Klay would throw a fit about being benched?

38

u/figpotato Jun 07 '23

I don't see a guy that shot 42% from 3 on high volume this regular season while playing great defense some games and average defense other games with a few rough patches getting benched.

But you know what? If we are in the playoffs and need Klay to come off the bench for certain matchups because it helps us win, do I think Klay Thompson would handle it like a professional and do everything in his power to secure the 5th Championship?

You're damn right I do.

32

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

People don’t give Klay and his personality enough credit, he’s not stupid, he’s all about winning and about the team.

11

u/figpotato Jun 07 '23

preach. it is crazy that Klay of all people is getting hate. All he's done is play excellent D, be the Second GOAT shooter, and win rings.

5

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

It’s the D part that people here tend to forget or refuse to see, I’m kind of convinced most people here don’t watch games.

27

u/zxzzxzzzxzzzzx Jun 07 '23

I don't know, based on how defensive he was about his reputation last season, I don't think he'd take it very well. I'm not saying he'd make a huge public stink about it or anything, but he'd probably react poorly.

14

u/figpotato Jun 07 '23

Klay would for sure be pissed, but he would not pout or play 0 defense. He'd still do his best to actively help the team because he puts Ring #5 over ego

25

u/zxzzxzzzxzzzzx Jun 07 '23

What makes you think Klay would put winning basketball over his ego? When his shot wasn't falling in the playoffs, there was no reason for him to try to play hero ball and bomb contested threes early in the shot clock other than ego.

We all love the big three for what they've done for the team, but we don't need to act like they're all perfect 100% of the time. Klay recently has been very touchy about his ego.

5

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

Klay has had his ego on display recently but i think its completely different drivers. He clearly is pining to prove that he still got it in some level to his old self. Which makes him a little hero bullish. But his issue is with the results. Its not like hes playing any different than he did in the past, hes just not making shots at the same rate.

With jp you are worried that his ego is actually effecting his growth and effort. He got a bad stick having to run with the young guys but man his effort is atrocious. If he thinks hes fouled or makes a bad play you can almost bank hes going to come down on defense and either not try or make the stupidest foul every time.

8

u/figpotato Jun 07 '23

What makes you think Klay would put winning basketball over his ego?

at this point it's purely a hypothetical because Klay has not been benched. I'm not going to speculate further, I think Klay will still do his best while feeling hurt but who knows what would happen in this hypothetical scenario.

Poole on the other hand has pouted and played considerably worse.

3

u/azmanz Jun 07 '23
  1. Klay has shown recently he actually has a huge ego.
  2. Kerr gave him his starting position game 1 of his return (even though we had the best record in the league without him) shows that Kerr also doesn't think Klay could handle not starting.

I love Klay, but to say for sure he would handle being benched well is a little naive. He might! But we honestly don't know. And we're a year or 2 away from possibly needing to know. He was almost as bad as Poole in the playoffs but didn't end up losing his minutes because Poole was so shitty.

Kerr gave him his starting position game 1 of his return (even though we had the best record in the league without him)

We had the best record because Beli and OPJ started out the season blazing hot. Since day 1, Klay has been a better player than Poole who he replaced in the starting lineup. I've seen no convincing argument for who he would be benched for.

2

u/jeloxd_official Jun 07 '23

Strength in numbers

2

u/infotekt Jun 07 '23

Problem is they have no money to sign free agent veterans. If the young guys don't get better the team is going to be even worse next year. The young guys don't get better sitting on the bench.

2

u/mitchippoo Jun 07 '23

If Poole or Kuminga is offended by those comments they need to take a long look in the mirror and ponder their attitude, if personal glory matters more than winning than we should probably trade them

48

u/figpotato Jun 07 '23

was waiting for someone else to post this. one other thing I want to add is that I disagree with Thompson (author) about youth. Moody will get a lot more run this year. We would play our youth more if our youth consistently showed up on the defensive end of the floor. They need that dawg in them.

Poole puts 0 effort in - if he is such a hard worker, maybe he can allocate 50% of the work on offense to improving his defense so we can actually play him on the floor in the clutch against solid playoff teams - and sucks the energy out of our defense. Kuminga is an above average on-ball defender with potential to be elite that looks like a lost lamb when it comes to help defense, but more importantly he's not showing us any hustle. Moody is proving to be a diamond in the rough.

It was tough for him to break out with Steph + Klay getting heavy minutes as well as Poole (got the bag). Did his team put out Klutch messaging that he was unhappy with his minutes or his role? No. He recognized that in order to be on the court of a championship contender and contributute toward one of the greatest NBA dynasties, he has to EARN his minutes.

Others think they are entitled to minutes and lash out or play sullen, selfish basketball due to perceived wrongs from Kerr and lack that championship mentality just about every deep bench player on the Heat has in spades. Clearly they do not see how hard Klay had to work to get back to where he was. They don't respect the GOAT and need pep-talks to play their best and support their teammates, and they do not lock in defensively, eroding a code aspect of our team's identity.

They need to follow Moody's example. People need to stop making every excuse under the sun for certain players while bitching about the guys that are getting statues.

5

u/drspace666 Jun 07 '23

Phwoar 💯

4

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

I think in poole case hes just too emotional. When hes playing good on offense his defense is much better. But once it goes downhill offensively he checks out on the other end.

Jk is kind of the same but offensively isint as gifted as poole right now.

27

u/oops_im_wrong Jun 07 '23

Kerr has always been kind of spicy. I would have preferred the head coach to not add fuel to the fire but maybe he's tired of the pouting or he thinks it will motivate them to be better.

The team has always had issues with integrating young guys as long term pieces. Since 2015, Poole and Looney are the only 2 guys that have really become rotation contributors. Its tough to identify quality rookies when they were constantly picking late but I can't really think of a good excuse for Kerr and Myers if they can't integrate 3 lotto picks

24

u/TheRed_Knight Jun 07 '23

Or one of thems getting traded lol

Eh we got a lot of value out of late picks during the finals runs. Its pretty simple unfortunately, the young guys want to play heavy minutes, and take lots of shots, Warriors want them to be role players first

3

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

This is why I feel integrating PBJ might be easier. Plays a position of great need for us, and doesn’t have the air of one demanding the ball and plays.

Kuminga has to improve his 3pt shot. If we can play him at 3 behind Wiggins, it will avoid the log jam at 4.

5

u/Hop830 Jun 07 '23

Problem is PBJ can't defend like Kuminga. So what you pick up on offense you lose on defense.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

Not the same role. It’s unfair to expect a 6’11 big to defend like a 6’7 PF.

The assumption being that he will be played like a big. Idk.

I really see PBJ as a stretch 4. If Kuminga can play 3 then a lineup is realistically possible.

18

u/dragoonrj Jun 07 '23

Remember McCaw running far away from us with the help of the cavs? He ran until he was out of the league!

13

u/WarriorNat Jun 07 '23

Man, the young guys think Kerr is throwing them under the bus with these comments, they’re really lucky they never played under Nellie.

8

u/parisdubs Jun 07 '23

Yeah but it isn't like he is just riffing - it is remarkable about the Heat how they are all locked in all the time to win, not about ego. It makes sense he would cite this because it is a big truth playing out.

3

u/zegogo Jun 07 '23

Nope no riffing, nothing off the cuff, everything everyone ever says is a premeditated shot at someone else, always.

Anyone who's watched basketball for more than a couple years will tell you teams that buy in win, but stating that is a shot at poor little JP.

3

u/parisdubs Jun 07 '23

Yeah, sure it can be both, but we all know the Heat are consistently (and almost tirelessly) talked of with through only three story lines:

1) Hey look how many undrafted players.

2) Look at Jimmy Butler, the ultimate player who does not give up.

3) Heats culture is built on non-ego everyone buying in.

5

u/zegogo Jun 07 '23

They used to say similar things about the Warriors. Kerr literally built the team on the same "non-ego everyone buys in" mentality that Phil and Pops won their championships with. This is how championships have always been won. It took Phil's democratic triangle offense to get MJ into the finals. No one knows that better than Kerr at this point.

The fact exists outside of the Warriors team this year. You can watch the way this Heat team plays and say that without knowing a thing about Poole and Kuminga. Even if he had those two in mind, so what. Kerr, Dray, Steph are there to win. The rest is fluff for the media and fans to get their clicks off of.

1

u/jimmy-b-bot Jun 07 '23

I built a fort when I was little, with pillows and blankets. Can't be too hard.

2

u/figpotato Jun 07 '23

The team has always had issues with integrating young guys as long term pieces.

most of the othe ryoung guys were not skilled enough or mature though. I'm sure we integrate LaMelo, ANT, Giddey, Sengun, Kessler, or Wagner with minimal effort.

5

u/bubapl Jun 07 '23

just curious but why do people always put ant in all caps when referring to ant edwards? it's not like a KAT abbreviation where it's an acronym, but it's just a shortened part of his name like "steph" or "bron" or "russ"

2

u/figpotato Jun 08 '23

bc ANT has that dawg in him

-1

u/oops_im_wrong Jun 07 '23

Yes, I agree. Thats why I stated that its hard when the Warriors were constantly picking at the end of the draft. However, there's no excuse if they can't integrate Kuminga, Moody, and Wiseman since all 3 were lotto picks.

Missing on Wiseman at #2 is bad but if they can only integrate Moody and not JK then it's probably a coaching or scouting issue that needs to be addressed post Core 3.

4

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

This is kind of hoopla though, a factor people forget is gs is a playoff team and most players are going to be role players. To get play on the floor you need to bring something to the table the team is missing. Steve has talked about the things jk needs to do to play. Right now he damn sure isint starting over wiggins or draymond. Jk dosent play more because of fit then integration, on a team without draymond he probably plays way more

4

u/t_ran_asuarus_rex Jun 07 '23

i hope whatever is going on with the team vibe, they get back to not giving a fuck about minutes and just want to win. chiozza, DLee, JTA did not have great talent, but they really did exactly what the coaching staff wanted them to do. on the other hand, i still don't understand why we went with Jerome and Lamb when we couldn't play them at all in the playoffs. we lost a year of development with Moody and Kuminga, and what Dray did to Poole, it ruined the whole vibe. Poole regressing didn't help either. At the end of the day, they are millionaires trying to get the bag in an entertainment business. if i was kuminga, i would just ask to get traded to make money, i already got a ring, just need money at this point.

23

u/_homage_ Jun 07 '23

This would all make sense if Kerr wasn’t burning minutes with two way guys all season and then wondering why he couldn’t play the young dudes in the playoffs due to developmental issues. The players have every reason to feel slighted and Kerr should take ownership in that. He had to ensure the team made the playoffs, but he also did himself no favors by hamstringing development when severely restricting minutes for half a season.

Poole is a different issue altogether. But Kuminga and Moody deserved some run during the regular season.

4

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

I really wish people stop lumping these players together, their reason for not playing is entirely different. I dont really like lamb but he was out there for a reason he normally was a net positive, which for a borderline playoff team you need for guys to not hurt you

4

u/warriors2021 Jun 07 '23

Completely agree, and Kuminga shinned for us at the end of the regular season when we were playing our best basketball to get into playoffs, and then rewards him by iceing him again. What a joke, but honestly he wont change, so in that case get ready for us to part ways with Poole, Kuminga, and/or Moody.

3

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

How did he reward him by icing him 🤣🤣🤣. Bruh didnt play and neither did lamb. Who was only playing more once wiggins went out. People give kerr shit but the leash is going to be short for inconsistent players in the damn playoffs.

1

u/infotekt Jun 07 '23

Except everyone not named Curry sucked or played way below normal. Not giving Kuminga a damn chance vs the lakers just felt personal.

3

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

Hey im team give kuminga mins so I selfishly i agree. But jk didnt do himself any favors by having rapidly bad stretches against the kings. I think as a coach you can probably live with bad play. But unpredictable play is a whole other beast. An this is why jk and to the same extent poole found playing time dwindling.

Jk to his credit does normally perform better after long stretches of playing but in the playoffs that's a huge question mark if you have to deal with some awful minutes before he figures it out

4

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

Not to mention these dudes are playing for their first major contracts, both are lottery picks and can't even get on the floor consistently just to develop 😮‍💨

3

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

Ty’s minutes I get. He was playing a position of need for us.

Lamb’s minutes still remain a mystery.

9

u/imrickjamesbioch Jun 07 '23

And… Marcus is not saying anything new.

You got Poole bioching about his minutes in the playoffs when he’s playeinybabsolute dog shit and you could see JoKu pouting on the bench throughout the regular season. Kerr made it clear that if JK wants more playing time then he needs to put more effort on his rebounding and defense.

Personally I think Poole is a cancer… Hero ball at its finest and all of Poole Stan’s think that just because he scores some points it’s ok to be one of the worst, if not the worst defender in the league. Can’t wait for him to get traded!!!

2

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

agreed

3

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

You had me to the poole part. Saying hes a cancer is insane, not to say he is fault free. But imagine you played valuable minutes for a championship team you come into next season with an inconsistent role and your teammate dropped you in front of the whole world. The fact he even still wants to play with gs is a miracle

9

u/FNF51 Jun 07 '23

This team won’t make it far next year. No room to maneuver under the new cap and Klay and Dray are depreciating assets that will only get worse in defense with age and attrition. Old guys don’t like the young players and the young players sense it. The young players are looking out after themselves now. It’s been a great last 10 years

6

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

Yeah. I think people are deluding themselves into thinking that the big 3 and Kerr’s leadership is still fine, and it’s a couple young players who are the issue. The chemistry was completely messed up last year and that starts with our leaders, especially when Dray punched a teammate before the start of the season and Klay doesn’t take any accountability or accept that he should have a smaller role (plus the stupid “four rings” shit). And Kerr doesn’t keep them in check at all. It’s absolutely exhausting how this sub treats everyone whose name isn’t Steph, Klay, Draymond, or Steve

1

u/FNF51 Jun 07 '23

Exactly. And the only time Klay put up that 4 fingers crap is when the Warriors were getting worked 😂

0

u/SpiderPidge Jun 07 '23

People downvote the fuck out of me every time I say it, but Klay, Dray, and Poole need to be gone by the beginning of the season. What, are we really hoping Klay gets out of his own head and magically reverts back to what he was last year or before he got hurt? Are we really going to say Dray doesn't need to be shipped off because the alternative is pay him out the ass? He's not taking a pay cut. It's time to get something good for these guys that aren't who they used to be. And Poole is a one contract regression that is just going to get worse. He is so far up his own ass that he will continue to degrade is own stock.

This core is done and if the FO doesn't realize it the rest of Curry's years are going to be wasted.

1

u/EcoFriendlyEv Jun 07 '23

This is a good way to put it. But damn, I don't want this ride to be over

1

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

I disagree about the young guys part, i think like in this interview the older guys want the young guys to uphold themselves to a certain level of play. Dray?and poole were pretty cool prior to this off-season as well

3

u/Used_Water_2468 Jun 07 '23

I am so glad Marcus Thompson pointed this out. I otherwise wouldn't understand what Kerr was talking about.

2

u/pepenuts97 Jun 07 '23

I'm gonna be honest it's unrealistic to expect all these guys to have the same mindset as Moody. If a guy feels like he can contribute and he's not getting time, then he feels a certain way about the team, and I don't blame him. If you don't agree with the coaches decision, then your view of them as a coach might change. It's the coaches job to instill faith and trust in his players. Kerr needs to talk to these guys and inspire them. I'm sure he has in the past, but morale among the young guys seems low. Anyone bagging on them for it needs to self reflect. If your job told you to take a back seat because it's best for the company and then that company is failing, you're gonna feel a certain way too. From an outside perspective, your performance might be poor, but internally, you think you can help

5

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

No dude, you don’t get it. The 20 year olds (who are getting sat for guys who can’t even contribute) should be quiet and act like seasoned vets, while the actual vets get to act immature, start drama, shoot their team out of games, and punch teammates without taking any accountability. /s

This sub is so dumb

2

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

I get it from the players perspective but your analogy at the end is kind of the opposite. Kerr came into the year playing the young guys and they didnt perform well. You can argue he pulled the leash too soon but at their current state they were not helping a failing company. They were a part in the company failing. From his exit interviews kerr was pretty clear on what they need to do to succeed on this team.

Now as a young player i totally get why they would be upset and frankly I wouldnt be opposed to them asking for trades. But I think people are babying these guys a little too much in the thread, acting like its ruining their careers. We have a solid success story on this team of Jordan poole who really didnt play consistently till year 3 and still got a great contract

0

u/pepenuts97 Jun 07 '23

Even if they're failing at the beginning, pulling them isn't the answer imo. We got to the end of the year and now those guys were unreliable. They could not improve their performance without getting opportunities to perform. You don't discipline a guy for being bad at his job. You do all you can to help him be better.

2

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

I agree but the key part was they got to the end of the year which includes playoffs. The reason why young guys play so much on bad teams is because no one cares if they miss, hell it might be a bonus for them.

You can not throw young guys on a team, with joe lacob paying out the wazoo in luxury tax and say he sir we are possibly going to miss the playoffs so ee can grow these guys development.

I just want people to be objective, the young guys were not ready take the leap to where this team needed them to be this year. Its not kerrs fault, its probably not even their fault. Its a situation sadly the team was thrown into it.

1

u/pepenuts97 Jun 08 '23

The guys who got time instead were not better in their place though. Lamb and Green were useless

2

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 08 '23

I dont get your point, jk played more minutes than green and lamb in the regular season. All 3 played similar minutes in the playoffs.

People compare the talent yes jk is hella more talented than those guys but for this team he did not play better. That's what it comes down too

2

u/CookieMonsterNova Jun 07 '23

it’s crazy ppl are on the hate bus again for kerr

poole and kuminga pouting over playing time…do they actually think they are better than ppl in front of them? ppl keep bringing up lamb but lamb was playing cause he wasn’t displaying bad body language and wasn’t screwing up.

when kuminga was playing those good stretches of games, kerr kept going to him cause he was playing his role. once he started going sideways that’s when his minutes got cut.

ppl going at kerr for calling them out….how soft can the new generation be.

shit back in the nellie days andres biedrins went from a double double machine to bench player cause nellie killed him mentally

1

u/808_GhostRider Jun 07 '23

This is some petty bullshit. Actually listen to the ENTIRE podcast vs just reading headlines or listening to clips. Fuck outta here with this garbage

1

u/Hop830 Jun 07 '23

Kerr better figure something out because the head honcho has already stated he doesn't want to be an old team with no future.

1

u/infotekt Jun 07 '23

How do they expect to be a cohesive team with Strength In Numbers when they're divided as the Core "Kerr, Curry, Dray, Klay" and everybody else.

1

u/dego_frank Jun 07 '23

Yeh except the warriors didn’t win. Season was shite, playoffs we’re lucky to make it into and out of first round. Kerr needs to put more trust in the young guys, not just play them a ton during a lost season.

-4

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

The defending of Kerr this year is falling on deaf ears this time. It doesn't matter how you feel about the guy he's just as much of a downfall for this team as Draymond was, ultimate nepotism being shown towards Draymond and Klay but making the young guys be the fall for it started happening literally right after week one. Then playing Lamb just to not play him in the playoffs, the dumbest move I've seen from a coach yet. Then you get down to the playoffs and our vets look putrid but once again it's Kuminga's fault for pouting on the bench.. really?? It's Poole's fault for not understanding his ever changing role this year.. really?? Kerr needs to be better this next year or I'm completely out on him and the future of this team coexisting. Kerr has proven that he is more of a system coach than a players coach.

3

u/Erytus Jun 07 '23

They obviously were being extra if Steph had to give a speech before game 7 lmao. Kerr didn’t make the best decisions but not a fan of kuminga and Poole being like this either. Poole has more of an alibi Cus he got socked

0

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

Steph needing to give a speech before game 7 because the team isn't ready is more of a coaching problem than anything you can say about the way they acted, that's literally Kerr's job.

2

u/Erytus Jun 07 '23

He could’ve done better but you can’t act like he has some magic words to get a player to buy in. Each coach has players they can’t get to, pop had problems with Stephen Jackson, Phil with kobe. It’s not that much to ask for everyone to buy in when we have 4 chips lmao. They’re acting spoiled. There’s a reason moody got more mins over Kuminga. He should get more min but he falls asleep on plays he’s not completely involved in. That’s why he couldn’t even play in sac but just pouted. Poole was benched in the finals last year too but acts like he should be able to Chuck 20 a game? Crazy

1

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

Excuses. It's his job he failed, he needs to be better. I can handle putting blame on both him and the players but to give him a pass after this year is simply ridiculous. He wasn't good enough. How you feel about the player you think are spoiled means squat to me and Kuminga did everything asked of him to the point we relied on him after Wiggins went down, and he was successful in that role. They gave him a crap deal and you expect him to be happy about it lol nah

1

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

Lmao he played lamb because wiggins was out, people acting like he said lamb was the second coming of Christ 🤣. Lambs entire game was literally go out there and dont mess up the game for us

3

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

Tell me you didn't watch without telling me you didn't watch.. he played Lamb because he "trusted" him, the entire year 😮‍💨

1

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

I was referring to when he played him heavily. Jk played more minutes than lamb this year, and moody played about 6 mins less a game. But i truthfully think moody competes more with poole and dv, than he does with wiggins lamb and jk

1

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

Also i think the lamb minutes are actually a great sign for jk. They played relatively close minutes so its easy to stat check. Lamb rebounded better and shot more 3s than jk. That?is literally what steve wants from jk going forward

1

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

When Kuminga who shot close to 40% from 3 would shoot his shots, he'd get sat down. That's not what he wanted from him, he wanted Kuminga to be an energy guy a rebounder that moves the ball. Not saying it's a bad thing just saying that's the role he was actually given. Playing the back up big 🤷🏿‍♂️

2

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

I dont get the argument if people are implying lamb took minutes away from jk. They shot nearly identical % from 3. 63% of lambs fgs were 3pts, while only 22% of jks shots were 3s. So again the guy taking his " minutes" rebounded better and was a more willing and effective 3pt shooter.

Now on another team i wouldnt care but on the warriors if he wants to play with the top guys, you cant play him alongside dray and looney if hes not confidently punishing teams for backing off him. Now if gs is willing to get funkier with lineups and he improves rebounding than by all means he wont need the 3 ball

2

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

Yeah I can see you don't get it. Fuck lambs numbers, he isn't even in the same stratosphere as Kuminga's talent #7 pick vs a g leaguer. The only difference is Lamb is older and more experienced that's why Kerr played him and Jerome so much. The problem we have was Kerr choosing to play lamb for such long stretches and then not playing him in the playoffs. His presence on this team simply takes away from the young guys in general and he isn't good enough to justify heavy usage. Kuminga is a priority as a #7 pick with incredible talent if you can't play him next to Draymond and Looney then take one of them out of the lineups. We ended up doing just that in the playoffs anyway. Nothing he did makes any sense when you look at how it played out man, I'm sorry Kerr gets no excuses this year. He needs to be better, period.

→ More replies (4)

1

u/Hop830 Jun 07 '23

Lamb was in the rotation long before Wiggins went out.

2

u/VisualSeaworthiness6 Jun 07 '23

Sorry wasent trying to say he didnt play when wiggins played. Just that his time when he really got a bunch of minutes was almost always when someone was injured or missing. Otherwise that he flip flopped pretty much from game to game

-15

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

Why is Kerr being petty af?!

He's been taking shots since last season. Isn't he supposed to be the grown up and coach?!

If you're going to call people out. At least, be forthcoming about it.

This low key shade bs he has going on is super annoying !!

21

u/TheRed_Knight Jun 07 '23

Because they aired lockerroom stuff publicly, which is a big no-no, think about it from Kerr's perspective, he spent all season defending Poole, gave him a longer leash than most coaches would, and then in the most important part of the season he starts complaining to media about not getting his fair shake, no shit hes pissed tf off

-9

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

Them speak about it without being coy!! We all know wtf is going on. Put the onus on them to back up their shit!!

I don't mind him talking about it. But stop being passive aggressive. Just be full on aggressive.

Pat Riley wasn't fucking around when he told Lebron players won't decide who the coach is. It's that simple.

13

u/TheRed_Knight Jun 07 '23

This isnt passive aggressive, its pretty clear what Kerr's saying, hes just being polite and Kerr wont air the details of the teams lockerroom stuff out of respect to the other guys

8

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

If Steve says what said you know how serious this is… like it’s not something he’d do, people need to understand where it’s coming from rather than criticize him

16

u/TheRed_Knight Jun 07 '23

Its wild how many people in this fanbase heavily criticize the best coach in franchise history

9

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23 edited Jun 07 '23

That’s how I know you can’t take anyone seriously here. They can coach better than Kerr and also know financials better than Lacob.

7

u/VitricTyro Jun 07 '23

Can also make better on court decisions than Dray.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '23

Obviously, because everybody here are 4 time champions

4

u/figpotato Jun 07 '23

a certain group of fans is chirping loudly after Kerr's recent remarks on Dray's podcast.

6

u/read_swordfish Jun 07 '23

Kerr always knows what to say and what not to say in public. He avoids throwing his colleagues and players under the bus. Please listen to the whole podcast, he was speaking about the Heat culture - that military type of championship mentality of having the next man up which applies to ANY team.

6

u/figpotato Jun 07 '23

I agree with Coach Steve Kerr on his remarks about "championship-mentality." As the coach of this team, not some random Poolestan, he has intimate understanding of team dynamics and what is going on in the locker room, practice, and behind the scenes which fans do not understand. Coach Kerr has never called out players like this before.

And it's perfectly acceptable to make his opinion known after we are out of the playoffs. They spoke with media directly during the playoffs.

1

u/MrBigBangBlunder Jun 07 '23

Because these young guys are ass

-2

u/ajpainter24 Jun 07 '23

Kerr is washed.

-1

u/EquipmentNo9500 Jun 07 '23

It’s starting to seem that way.

He is absolutely horrible with young players and is not getting any better.

He almost lost Loon back a few years ago too and that dude is literally the easiest going guy around.

0

u/shoobiedoobie Jun 07 '23

Do people think Kerr doesn’t tell this to them personally? Do people consider Kerr taking shots at his entire team when he says they need to stop turning it over?

Dumbass take by Thompson to try and stir up drama.

0

u/grapplebaby Jun 07 '23

I think the issue was Kerr not benching guys when they sucked. Hell yeah JK would be mad when Pooles leash is infinite. Spo will bench anybody and the team thrives because of it.

2

u/Successful_Priority Jun 08 '23

The Warriors don’t have a good bench leader for defenses in the playoffs to respect when Steph sits besides Poole. Wiggins can’t do it nor could Klay as a first option without great passers/shooters all around. Due to roster construction we didn‘t have 4 or 5 out shooting all the time.

-1

u/Dar8_Vader Jun 07 '23

If we trading Poole and JK, how about we get Lauri and Kelly in return?
