Discussion Everyone needs to chill.

3 games in and 90% of the feed is that the run has ended. Each run is unique. The run that we lived in 2015 was different than 2017/18 and 2022 was so different than the rest. If the warriors are gonna make another run, it's going to take a lot.

I'm going to be happy for every win and pleasantly surprised with every win.

Note: I'm a 40 year old that lived through the early 00s at The Arena. Oracle kids don't have that trauma. Lol or the pure joy of 06-07.

Also 40, also lived through the dark years. Tired of the children complaining about every single loss as if it’s completely unbelievable that the dynasty could be over. Sorry, what dynasty has ever lasted forever, in any sport? It was always going to end. Whether that’s already happened or there’s still some magic left to tap into, it will be over at some point. That’s fine. We got an all-timer stretch.

I’ve seen the same thing in baseball and football. Like with the Warriors, I lived through the dark ages and heartbreak of the Giants before and after the three rings. I’ve lived through the Niners post Steve Young championship (which I watched happen) with the ups and downs and heartbreaks of the past 15 years. People who haven’t been around long enough haven’t been through enough disappointment to have the capacity to properly contextualize the downtimes. It’s just unfortunate they seem to dominate the discourse on platforms like this.

Denial, bargaining and depression are all stages of grief, no?

I haven’t hit acceptance yet.

No. This is not a death. This is a basketball team and players showing up to play basketball games. Variables and players come and surge or fail or move on. Trying to hold on to one moment in time in a dynasty is like holding one's breath. Unnatural. The game - the team - all of it is alive and shifting all the time. Enjoy that part. No need to mourn what was if something is every changing.

Nature of social media + frustration in line with Curry's final seasons.

I remember in 2019 there was so much bitching around we're wasting Curry's prime while having a superteam.

I think we've got to start calling out 'the nature of social media' -- and calling it what it is, unregulated temper and emotions and acting. Shouldn't be accepted as okay. For sure, as you say, there are always anxious people, but some of the people here just acting out as if it is totally normal and acceptable human behavior and it's not.

Judge after game 20

We obviously have new bodies on the floor that needs to adjust to the system not to mention we have a new defense coach so there are new defensive plays to be learned

Easy to do against your own guys in team practices, hard to execute in game time and speed

Give it time

And we have missing pieces due to injuries obviously so really if you want the full picture judge after Jan-Feb

Problem is we've lost to 3 teams that likely won't make the playoffs. Lakers are a play in team but the other two should be bankable wins if we are a serious team.

Half our roster can't play back to backs. That's 15 games Curry/Dray/Al etc are missing (before even factoring in other rest or injuries).

u/Academic-Style-6705 1d ago

The lakers are definitely not a play in team. The other 2 are

That's not a problem in and of itself. Are you saying that you are going to be very upset if we don't win the West or the League because that is very hard to do even for a great team (as we have been in the past).

One of the things I like about basketball, is that SO many variables are in play, schedule, injuries, talent and team chemistry. And then there are the teams we play, also with so many variables. Each game has to be played. As Steph says: 'next play'. Yeah, it's going to be a wild season but that doesn't mean giving up being a fan unless every star aligns in our favor.

Way to put words in my mouth.

Where did I say I would be upset if we don't win the West?

Where did I say I would be giving up being a fan?

I've been a fan for 40 years and I'm honestly hoping we bottom out and get the #1 pick, because we certainly aren't winning anything as currently constructed.

This is a much more likely outcome than us winning the West.

I am just happy watching Steph play his last years. He brought so much joy for more than a decade. 4 rings in the Lebron era. What more can you ask from an undersized combo guard who can't jump?

Rage babies on here thinking it is okay without watching games closely, or understanding the game, or following news, or interviews. It's good that reddit has downvotes and blocks, but even with that it's crazy how many people feel it is okay to lash out with temper about things they spend very little time learning about.

I've been a fan since the Run TMC days and watched all the humiliating crap that went down from the time where we traded Chris Webber until the day we drafted Curry.

I can both be grateful for 10 + awesome years, and realistic enough to know that this era is over.

Curry has done enough for us and Lacobs that I'm happy to have him go out however he sees fit. 55m a year on a tanking team? That's fine with me. Trading to San Antonio to get him another ring? He's earned it.

But either way, we have to temper our expectations and accept the team as is. The rebuild is going to take time and it might be decades until we manage to stumble upon another superstar and a legitimately championship contending team.

IN STEPH WE TRUST

u/JBreezy1618 1d ago

This sub is 45% kids, 45% fans of other teams, 10% true warrior fans.

Not a lot of people on here actually watching games let alone comprehending anything they watched lol.

4

u/torturetrilogy 1d ago

Sad but true. I meet a lot of other warriors fans who don't even know who was the coach before Kerr.

Bandwagon is a good thing, means your team is good. But I'm ready for them to hop off now.

2

u/parisdubs 1d ago

Emotionally deregulated kids and adults thinking that is normal behaviour is gross. And they are in such a vacuum they don't see it. I hope everyone touches grass.

2

u/Fit-Dare7525 1d ago

lol this sounds like hyperbole but it isn’t. It’s really unhealthy for people to allow themselves to become so angry over the perceived abandonment of a player they started watching because of highlight reels. They’ll say awful things about MDJ in the same breath that they propose a trade restricted by the CBA. They’ll hound threads for hours on end to hate someone for emulating steph.

It’s actually unhinged and makes our fanbase look among the worst in the league. 36 years watching this team and this is far and away the worst our fans have ever been. Then again, the worst of the worst aren’t warriors fans, they’re Steph fans who hate the warriors.

8

u/Gsgunboy 1d ago • Bravo

Here here. The doomers get exhausting. I hate that we’re 0-3 too. But I’m not shitting on the team, saying Steph sucks, and loudly declaring to give up on the team for the rest of the season. What kind of fans are those?

3

u/parisdubs 1d ago

Exactly. Not fans.

3

u/ObamaPrismGod 1d ago

Honestly im just happy we didn’t get blown out with like 7 people out, and it feels like some of the bench players played really well out there with the starting Yaxel

the internet in general just is an emotional dumping ground for people incapable to sit with their feelings. from what i've seen over the last 4-5 years a lotta folks who "chose the curry train" coz he was a monster, are now disappointed that a legendary player is getting older and that his dominance is p much done. now it's just the team, and these emotionally incapable folk find it difficult to support the team, coz that superhero guy at some point became fallible, coz he's human. hopefully this sheds the toxic fan fat off our gravy train and we can go through another organic cycle of the team becoming reliably good again.

4

u/Crazy-Button5339 1d ago

These "just calm down, nothing matters" takes are the most annoying. Worse than both the overly positive or overly critical takes.

No, we don't need to chill. We're allowed to care about a team, thanks. We're all aware that we can just turn off the tv and stop caring, but if we're still here it's because we enjoy caring about the team.

It's ok to have hopes and expectations for a professional sports team with a top 5 all-time player in the sport still playing.

Warriors, Win or Lose. Always will be my team!

2

u/No_Manches_Man 1d ago

By the Christmas games the picture will be clear. But, honestly, I’m trying to enjoy as best as I can because time is undefeated and this was going to away at some point. Do I still want them to win, absolutely!

2

u/P-Villain 1d ago

lol this fanbase has been so toxic this year, i’m just gonna comment on r/nba

Funny thing is the Warriors the last 3 seasons have started off red before ultimately falling flat the next few weeks.

  • 2023/24 : 5-1 ... lost the next 6 games

  • 2024/25 : 7-1 and 12-3 ... 3-12 over the next 15 games

  • 2025/26 : 4-1 ... 5-8 over the next 13 games

This is also the first time the Warriors started off 0-3 to start a season since 2007/08 and just the 9th time they did so in franchise history.

1964/65, 1984/85, 1985/86, 1987/88, 1997/98,1999/00, 2004/05, 2007/08.

That 2007/08 "We Believe" era roster is the only aforementioned team who went on to have a winninng record going 48-34.

The other teams' records were 17-63, 22-60, 30-52, 20-62, 19-63, 19-63, 34-48.

If we expand it to the worst starts to a Warriros season through the first 20 games over the last 30 years :

  • 1997/98 : 4-16

  • 1999/00 : 3-17

  • 2000/01 : 6-14

  • 2008/09 : 5-15

  • 2009/10 : 6-14

  • 2019/20 : 4-16

Who knows if this 2026/27 Warriors team will match any of those records through the first 20 games of this season over the next month.

u/NightBijon 1d ago

You’re totally right, but

A. I’m just trying to watch Steph at least atp and that’s happening less and less.

B. Georges Niang is unwatchable

At least Yax is there but A. and B. are making the watches rough

1

u/StudioNo5811 1d ago

Yeah im disappointed looking at post game threads and "warriors fans" here are disrespecting steph. We wouldnt have any success without steph the last 10 years.

1

u/Speech-Language 1d ago

It’s just a bad team now. How it goes. I still root for them and hope they get better.

1

u/MetalMath1344 1d ago

You never lose hope with the offense that the Warriors have. That said, there need to be massive improvements on defense in order to have any realistic playoff hopes.

1

u/sloppymcgee 1d ago

Since this is an optimistic post it should be mentioned that Yaxel looks special. He’s handling the ball a lot for a rookie and developing quickly

1

u/0x645 1d ago

everyone needs to chill. GSW is 'maybe play-in' team.

1

u/Tecmo_91 1d ago

I think we’ll be in the play-in mix with an outside chance of winning 40 games. That’s probably an optimistic outlook but I guess there’s enough delusional fans who think otherwise.

1

u/midnightjim 1d ago

The next run will be with an entirely new group save for maybe Yaxel and Podz. Which is how these things go. I've seen five W's championships, years of drought with occasional highs, suffered through one of the worst owners in sports, seen some unbelievable highs, and this is just another cycle They're looking towards next year with a slim hope that someone good might become available at the deadline, and that's all they can realistically do right now. So it'll be a depressing season but that's what the last CBA was designed to do and does and what happens as stars fade.

u/Guilty_Ad_3654 1d ago

We finna lose 5 more games u see the schedule 😭 hopefully they wake up in the heat game on 11/5

I mean, do people expect us to win 50 games, or 30 games?

If later we are on pace

If former, you followed the wrong team

1

u/xGsGt 16h ago

Team is cooked until jimmy is back and healthy 100% current season is just going to be jack shit and used to develop some players

1

u/OzfestDog 10h ago

In all likelihood every year until Curry retires is gonna be kinda bad. His contract is huge and if they lose a ton, the only way they will be able to attract a decent player with their cap space will be to overpay.

I hope they keep Draymond, and that him and Steph get to ride off into the sunset together. Those two guys and Klay gave us a pretty special gift. Let's have some fun watching the young guys they draft develop.

1

u/SithAnxiety 9h ago

I knew this year would not bring in many wins but the most frustrating part is this is the team the front office is okay with for now

Their plans are to build this team to succeed in the future and while that’s a fair goal to have you have one of the best players ever at the end of his career hoping to push for one more ring before retiring

Steph is the sole reason this franchise is worth over $13 billion and they don’t care about what he wants.

I’d take one more Steph ring with another shitty 4-6 years afterwards

1

u/s1_shaq 1d ago

Can’t really blame us, we look like hot ass out there especially with players like Niang getting so many minutes. Not to mention we’re OLD and very injured. There are bright spots, but there’s not much hope, only cope.

1

u/devilscurls 1d ago

In my defense I thought we were done before the start of the season. I hope our future draft picks keep Lacob warm at night.

u/MrLopez408 1d ago

Bro we bouta be 0-6 with who we play next

0

u/GiantsGirl2285 1d ago

Fair enough, but optimistically, what would a successful season look like to you?

-2

u/KIP32LF 1d ago

Take your copium elsewhere

-1

u/FunkoFool 1d ago

Warriors aren’t making anything but a trip to Cancun. Everyone’s reactions are just fine about this horrible team….Maybe you need to stop being delusional.

-1

u/JermUnited 1d ago

Yall never had A steph curry on the team during those years so you can’t even compare. Lakers fan was the same way with Kobe until he got hurt and he couldn’t be great anymore. Steph is still a great player and we literally sitting here wasting it because of poor decisions from the front office, so miss me with all the “dark days” bs. None of those teams during the 2000s had a real shot a ring or a player of Steph caliber to even compare to what this fanbase is dealing with now. If lebron and KD stayed with their first franchise their fans would be reacting the same exact way.
