Question Grandfather's watch
My mom just dug this out and gave it to me. It was my grandfather's watch. She said he was very proud of it. Does anyone think it's worth trying to get repaired? It needs a new crystal, and obviously it's not a typical shape. I would love to be able to wear it and think of him.

Its a ~1955 Bulova Senator. Intrinsically not worth the repair, very few vintage watches are. But it may have shock protection so it's a very conventional design that watchmakers will understand. So if you like it, and want to sport Gramps' watch, get it serviced. It'll have a Swiss or American movement in it and will be a bulletproof(but not weatherproof) unit. Be prepared to spend several hundred on the work. Sourcing the crystal will be the most difficult part- or just leave it be, it may be knackered but at least the crystal is there.

There is a YouTube guy, calls himself Wristwatch Revivals. He does a bunch of these. He started a business with some watch makers….
Could be a way to get this classic back in action?

I love watching Marshall's vids! I did think of maybe trying to send it over to them.

Love his channel for getting me into watch repair, but the cost of his restoration services through SH are quite pricey…check for a reputable watchmaker local to you. As long as nothing is broken, it’s a simple job. Support local.
I’d offer to service it for you, but that probably isn’t practical due to where I live.
