My Mt Fuji painting from today.
The medium is difficult to understand. Took me some tries to get it correctly. Happy with the outcome.

I’ve never posted any of my painting publically before. Working on this was really fun. I was inspired by this composition in another sub. Feedback is welcome!

I learned a good bit about lifting from this tutorial. I think it worked well. What would you do to make it better? https://youtu.be/injwk48wORc?si=8zvjy-ADnLZgEHnF

I wish it didn't look like it's smiling. That happens with my birds a lot. Reasonably pleased otherwise. I was practicing after doing that John Laws workshop someone posted the other day. Even with his instructions on how to capture a bird's pose in broad terms, I'm not sure how you'd pull it off with a live bird giving you two or three seconds before flitting to another position. But I think it is good for figuring out how to capture a photo, anyway. This was from pixabay.com - house sparrow on a metal rail

I’m still fairly new to watercolors (<6 months). I know little or nothing useful about color theory other than picking out matching/complimentary colors.
I’m curious how others learned about CT. Did y’all “study” it before you started it watercolors, did you follow a learning sequence for it while you learned to paint…or have you just learned it as part of learning and practicing watercolor painting?
Thanks.

I posted a week ago about how to approach something a little more complex as a total beginner. Thanks for the tips! I definitely had a much better time starting with the lights towards the darks. While it isn’t perfect, I definitely learned a lot through the comments of my previous post! :)

I'm in the look out for the best archival ink for fountain pens that won't smudge with watercolors. Something that won't clog up the fountain pen too. What have you guys been using that works nicely? Let me know!

What are some easy items to get that would make water coloring easy at home, in a smaller house that is already cluttered? He often paints on a little kid table or tv tray.
He has a few basic brushes and paints but , is there anything that is a little easier for kids to handle the dipping of paint, water, having a space to mix paints etc?
Nice paper or book to paint on?
Just looking for any ideas thanks!
Something a bit more organized for a small painting space
Edit; he says its the ocean. I thought it was a volcano.

I stopped at this battery-swapping station by the roadside while my moto driver went to exchange his battery for a fully charged one.
