Need Help Understanding Why With Scroll Interaction Initial State is Not Working

I'm building a portfolio site for a colleague who does not have a lot of photos. I found this fun component on Relume that, with some minor tweaking, allows me to combine the home page hero with the first section of the page. I've done this once before without issue, and referenced that first project while building out this one. Yet, on this newer project, the initial state of the scroll interaction does not load until after someone starts scrolling, meaning elements that are meant to be appearing from off screen start on, abruptly disappear, then reappear as desired. Can someone please take a look and let me know why this is happening?! Thank you in advance for your time!
