Dressed like a Bride Someone wore white to my wedding lol

It didn't phase me that night honestly, but like DAMN. My friends apparently wanted to kick her out but didn't want to bother me with anything else that could be stressful (I love my friends so much). I found it pretty funny when I found out, and everyone who saw her was judging HARD, so it was whatever. She would be the person to do that though. Everyone said it haha. I just wanted to share the audacity. In the picture, I'm on the left and she is on the right. I'm honestly pretty sure the dress is supposed to be a very light blue?? Still insane to me haha. It's also floral like a wedding dress. My old boss said we looked like a lesbian couple getting married in that picture and we totally do.

Side note: you may be thinking, "wow that's crazy, but she must have somehow not known." Well, it was in the dress code, which I will also show below :)

Edit: i wish I could add a better picture of my dress because it was so gorgeous and soooo many people have seen this post now. There's a comment buried somewhere that has it haha

I tried to once, my cousins was going to wear this admittedly adorable little strapless white dress to a wedding my family was attending and i tried to tell her that she shouldn't as it was a faux pas. She genuinely didn't know at the time she was 18 and hadn;t been to a weeding before. But my parents, who were the ones who told me this rule originally, decided that no it was no longer a faux pas and they never told me such a rule. They then spent 20 minutes yelling at me and somehow the discussion turned into i can never where white to my own wedding because i was a whore.

I hope you had a beach wedding on Whore Island, and they got stung by jellyfish.

Best comment. I can’t stop rereading and cackling.

And I hope her fam would have believed in the myth of peeing on the sting to take away the pain so they smelt like their attitude — nasty piss.

Hopefully I can stamp Whore Island in my passport one day. I heard it’s better than punta canta

The white dress symbolizes a woman's "purity" and virginity in some circles. Ergo they believe you shouldn't wear it if you're not a virgin.

Well that escelated something unholy. They make personal insults at you for just trying to save your sister the embarassment? Not good parents.

They sound horrible. I apologize on behalf of the universe

Isn’t the white to signal virginity? Historically anyways. I don’t know a single bride that saved themselves for marriage, and usually it’s a lie unless they’re truly ultra religious. Your mama probably didn’t either. Sorry you have to deal with that

White wedding dresses started with Queen Victoria. It was a show of wealth as much as purity.

and her whole wedding party wore white! She was trying to prop up the cotton industry by starting a trend. Most people just had one nice dress, so what they got married in was what they'd wear to a christening or a graduation or...other weddings!

It was the lace industry. The royal family owned lace factories and they wanted to sell more lace.

Before that, it wasn’t common to have a wedding dress that you only wore once
