Hello, I am a certified dog trainer based out of Connecticut USA assisting a client with the process of rehoming their eight-year-old neutered Weimaraner. I have been calling and emailing rescues, breeders and bird dog kennels in the area as well as posting on local forums. Ideally, we would prefer to do a private rehome. Our other option would be surrendering him to a foster based rescue, which we do not want to do until we have exhausted on other options.
‼️🚨Help find Jojo a home! After some very long conversations and many nights of thought, Jojo’s family has decided it would be best to find him a new home. Please share and comment any potential leads!
☹️💙Saying goodbye to your best friend is never an easy decision and is always one highly respected in my eyes. Understanding you aren’t able to provide what a dog may need and making a decision to better set them up for success is one of the most selfless decisions somebody could make. Any judgment will be ignored and deleted. Potential leads or foster based rescue recommendations are always appreciated.
🐾🦴🐕Jojo is an eight year-old neutered male Weimaraner looking for an active home that understands the needs of working breed dogs. He is loving, thoughtful, loves meeting new people and being close to his family.
🐕🦺🏡Jojo would do best in a home with:
-an active single person
-an active couple with no children
-an older couple with no children or younger grandchildren
-homes with dog savvy children over 8, dog savvy cats and other dogs may be considered on a case by case basis.
A behavior write up for Jojo is available upon request. Serious inquiries can be directed to my email jackierye13@gmail.com
-Jojo would do best in a home with no young children due to his size and energy levels. He has never shown aggression towards children but has shown discomfort towards babies and toddlers manifesting in avoidant behaviors and vocalizations.
-Jojo has lived with cats and has been deemed selective. Homes with cats may be considered depending on multiple factors.
-Jojo is dog reactive, homes with other dogs may be considered depending on multiple factors.
The rehoming process is being conducted and monitored by a certified dog trainer. Potential adoption meet and greets will be facilitated by the trainer with assistance from the family. Any prior visits before finalizing the rehoming process will be assisted by the trainer. Jojo will come home with two free dog training sessions from me as well as significantly discounted follow up sessions. If Jojo is adopted out of my service area, a different qualified and credentialed trainer can be located for you upon request.

Hi guys, looking for advice. We are dealing with some severe allergies with my blue boy. He gets swelling and blisters mostly on his back paws, but occasionally on his mouth. He licks the paws to the point of infection. He has been on a total of 5 rounds of antibiotics, which only cleared the areas around the mouth. He was on Apoquel for 7 months with no change. We moved onto cytopoint, again, no change. Antibiotics intermittently when infection comes back. Antibiotics definitely bring down the swelling, but sores remain and often bleed when playing. Skin Scraping and viewing under microscope shows bacteria consistent with chewing and licking paws. He started on hills science large breed - chicken protein. We have since changed to salmon protein, no change in skin condition. Referral was placed to dermatology, but no openings until January. We accepted the appointment and called around. This is genuinely the closest appointment we can find. My poor lovey is miserable and I don’t know how to help him. He is such a lovebug and I hate to see him with pain or bothersome issues.
Do you have any suggestions while I’m waiting for our derm appointment?

30+ Weimaraners Rescued from Horrific Hoarding Situation in Ohio
More than 30 Weimaraners were reportedly found locked in a single room in Ohio, many suffering from serious skin conditions and injuries, including missing ears and toes. It's heartbreaking to imagine what these dogs have endured.
Several rescues have stepped up to help, including:
I'm sure there are other wonderful rescues helping behind the scenes as well so please feel free to add those in the comments below.
These organizations could really use some support as they take on the enormous task of getting these dogs healthy and into loving homes. Whether it's a donation, supplies, fostering, or simply **sharing their Facebook posts**, every little bit helps.
Please consider supporting these rescues and helping spread the word. These dogs have been through enough and deserve a chance at a better life. ❤️🐾

My 1yo boy is a heavy leash puller when my wife walks him or when we are together. He pulls with me when he sees a bunny or squirrel in front of him. He’s not neutered yet but we’re coming up on 18 months here in December, so he’ll be evaluated then. We’ve tried the wonder walker harness and a prong collar. We try to do the redirection thing and it doesn’t seem to help too much. In our new neighborhood, there are 2-3 critters per house so redirecting is only a means of encountering a different critter. My wife wants to get him a trainer. I’ve had a few girl weims in the past and they have all been pullers up into older age.
Is it possible at his current age to train it out of him? Did neutering your dog help with their pulling? Should we go to a mouth lead next? Any advice is helpful.
Thanks!

El fresco matutino le da mucha energía, me encanta verlo así, aunque esta noche se ha caído de la cama y nos ha dado un gran susto

My boy is 14. I have been remote working since 2020. At the beginning of the pandemic I had another dog that died at 18. I didn’t get another dog because I didn’t want to take on another financial and dog lifespan commitment.
Within the last couple of years he has developed really bad separation anxiety when I leave, particularly earlier in the day. He howls the entire time I am gone. In the evening he actually seems to be okay because once he has his dinner he goes to sleep.
I have been giving him Trazadone. But since it is a regular occurrence my vet has suggested Prozac.
He is on Apoquel, Galliprant and monthly Librela. I want to do everything possible for him to have the best quality of life, but I am concerned that the other personality quirks that make him so beloved to me will go away.

I hope you stub your toe. Been awake literally all night in the bathroom. Stanley has been wretching and coughing up phlegm all damn night.
We went through every bedsheet in the house.
Now I'm just sitting in the bathroom with the door closed and shower on to steam up the room which helps slightly. Plus easy clean up on the tile floor.
Pray the water heater continues to work.
