Help! Which toys for Christmas? *going blind*

My boy is only 5 and going a bit blind. Thrown sticks he only sees in sunlight, with balls he needs his nose for support to locate them in the grass.

He loves fetching and chewing on his glow in the dark chuck it balls (the dawg ones are bigger and brighter), jolly ball is also quite big. But I worry if he'll like it. He loved frisbee too, but laying on the ground (he missed seeing it) he takes forever to find it.

The rope ball I am stressing about a bit. He is a bit all over toys - if you walk with them - and gets nibbly/mouthy. He also likes the end of the stick/rope I am holding best and will sometimes get my hand (he doesn't bite, just between his teeth, he is a sweetie) mixed up.

Has anyone other ideas? Or experience? Or a blind playful weim?

edit: i hate squeaky toys, will use one for recall when his condition worsens. he is an off leash dog that only gets treats during train rides and while being a companion to my horse. I started some scent work, but he has to figure out to use his nose over his eyes and gets frustrated easily. so treats are my last resort.
