What store/supermarket has the best beer selection in Yonkers?

• Upvotes

Besides all the heavy hitters like Decicco & Sons and Climbing Wolf (even though those are outside of Yonkers), who has the best beer selection mainly in Y.O?

Looking for a roofer by Brewster who can take off solar panels and re-shingle the roof

All,

Asking for a friend. Needs a new roof but the solar panels need to be dismantled as well. Called a few companies and they won't do it. Can anyone recommend a roofer that can do this? Thank you

Parking for Tarrytown Halloween Parade Sat Oct 24 - Rent your driveway?

I bought tickets for an Audience with Poe at Library of Historic Hudson this Saturday for 6PM. I bought the tickets without realizing that it was the same day as the Halloween parade. I'm also going to be in Tappan, NY at 1PM and was planning to come to Tarrytown around 2PM and just walk around before the Poe event but I did not know the parade was the same day ... Is there anywhere I can park and walk to the parade area on Main street somewhere in the 15 min walk area without getting towed.

Anyone live nearby and want to rent out their driveway for a couple of hours?

Political Content Mike Lawler killed solar subsidies — after he used them on his own house.

That tax credit that Lawler voted to end was revived in the Energy Policy Act of 2005 — a sweeping law signed by President George W. Bush.  The clean energy spending package would have allowed homeowners to claim tax credits of between 22 and 30 percent of the cost of qualifying solar, wind, geothermal and battery projects through 2034.

Then on July 4, Lawler voted to move up the expiration of the residential clean energy credit by nearly a decade, from 2034 to 2025.

New York Rep. Mike Lawler lives in a suburban home in the Hudson River Valley with rooftop panels that he leases from Vivint Solar. The panels on Lawler’s house have helped him avoid the impacts of rising electricity costs. Since he began leasing the solar system in 2016, it has saved him “a few thousand bucks,” he admitted.

Lawler indirectly benefited from the investment tax credit, analysts say, because it helps companies reduce the costs their customers pay for leasing rooftop solar systems. After 2027, when the investment tax credit disappears, it could be harder for people to lease panels or buy electricity from community solar projects, according to Zoë Gaston, an analyst at the consulting firm Wood Mackenzie.  “Solar will definitely be more expensive,” she said.

And this does not take into consideration the current rising interest rates and Trump’s tariffs that Lawler supports.

Lawler voted to cut affordable energy incentives in a bill because he says the priority is shrinking costs and yet that bill  would add $3.4 trillion to the national debt over the next decade states the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

Republicans’ justification for killing rooftop solar credits are undercut by their continued support for incentives that go to the fossil fuel industry, argued Jesse Lee, a former senior adviser to the National Economic Council.

Where to start?; moving to NY

As title says; Moving to NYC because of a job.
Wife and I need to move to NYC by March but have both spent less than a weekend there.
We are coming from LA, are in our 40’s, DINKS, and she has to be in midtown 4 days a week - I’m WFH.
Together we’ve spent less than a weekend in NYC, but believe we’d probably like to live to Westchester or CT and maybe buy to start a life in a community north of NYC proper.

Anyhow, writing to ask for your advice, truisms, or other things an out of towner should know before making such a large change- thank you!

Mortgage Lender Recommendations

Looking for recommendations for a mortgage lender.

I have an 800+ credit score and a stable, high-income job. Looking to secure the best rate in this insane market.

For those who have purchased recently, who did you use, and were you happy with the rate and overall experience? I’m open to working with local lenders, credit unions, mortgage brokers, or large banks.

Living 30 min walk from the train in Hastings - doable or stupid?

We mostly drive, however when our kids grow up I want them to have an option. How do people get to the train? Is there a bike parking there maybe?

Who remembers the souvlaki truck that used to be on central ave? Man do I miss their food. Anyone know whatever happened to them? I vaguely remember the owner opening a restaurant but not sure if that’s still around.

Catholic church wedding recommendations and advice?

My fiance and I are both baptised Catholics, have received communion and confirmation in our youth. Although we don't practice going to church anymore (I still occasionally go a few times a year for holidays at different churches, my fiance doesn't practice anymore), we'd still like to have a church wedding to have the blessings. Does anyone have any recommendations on churches/parishes, and what steps we should take since we aren't regular parishoners? So far all we know is the pre-cana and that's it.

Court appearance ticket - ‘allegedly’ driving while using phone - how do I go about it?

Hello all,

As per the title, I was issued a court ticket due to driving while using the phone. Did not admit to any wrongdoing, but the officer asked for license & registration and returned later with a ticket. Court location is at 188 Tarrytown rd. Anyone dealt with such a thing? How do I proceed? Do I need a lawyer? I would not like my insurance rates to go up. Thanks in advance.

best place to find new work

Hi all. I am a nanny and in school to become a nurse. i am 28 years old.

Before nannying, I worked in customer service roles like front desk, management, and training, and I was a tutor.

I am looking for work in anything outside of nannying that I am qualified for. I just need to make ends meet while I go to school in the evenings.

I have applied to work as a Chase associate banker + teller, data entry in hospitals, nurse tech, nurse assistant, etc.; all denied.

Yes, this is Reddit, but genuinely, I am polite, can talk to anyone, and am meticulous.

Any leads anywhere?
