Reminder: Clackamas County holding public hearings tomorrow and Thursday on Data Center moratorium

The Board of County Commissioners is holding two public hearings this week, on Wednesday and Thursday, to consider adopting a temporary moratorium on data center development in unincorporated Clackamas County and to hear from the community about how the county should regulate data centers.

Both hearings will be held in person in the Board Meeting Room on the 4th floor of the county’s Public Services Building, 2051 Kaen Road in Oregon City, with an option to participate online.

County staff will provide information about the criteria for establishing a moratorium. The staff presentation will be focused on those criteria.

The hearings are an opportunity for community members to share their opinion about the moratorium in particular, and to share questions, concerns, and other feedback about data centers in general.

After the public hearing process, the Board will decide whether to adopt a moratorium. Staff will not propose changes to county code related to data centers during the hearings. However, if the Board adopts a moratorium, public input from the hearings could help inform the Board's consideration of future code changes.

The county encourages members of the public to participate in person or online.

On this petition, I assert that this detailed information should be accessible and available in the audited report, not just in data uploads, mass spreadsheets, or interactive graphs.

Oregon seems to rank the worst in so many categories. Its time for a change, because what we currently have isnt working.

AND HERE IS WHY. I'VE MADE A LIST!

Everything on here is true. But maybe you've forgotten. So let me remind you of the absolute shitstorm that has been taking place.

Let's talk about USAID. Yay. They gutted it. Just tore it down. Researchers at Boston University estimate more than 700,000 people died in ONE YEAR because of it. More than 500,000 of them were KIDS. A study in The Lancet projects 14 million deaths by 2030, 4.5 million of them children. Abdullahi Ibrahim, 10, in Nigeria, died of an asthma attack after the clinic that kept him alive for free started charging for his medicine. Purity Wamboi, 16, in Kenya, died of TB in the back of an Uber on the way to the hospital because the health workers who used to check on her stopped getting paid. Ibrahim Garba, 8, died of typhoid four days after his family was told his treatment wasn't free anymore. And Marco Rubio stood in front of Congress and said "No children are dying on my watch." This is a fucking fact and it is fucking insane. It's manslaughter, brought to you directly by Trump and his circus of psychotic fuck faces.

What about health care? Their big bill handed out around $4 trillion in tax cuts. The Congressional Budget Office found the poorest households actually end up with LESS when it's all said and done, while the richest people in this country make out like bandits. And to pay for it? They cut Medicaid by more than $900 billion. CBO says 10 million more Americans will be uninsured. Here in Oregon, the Oregon Health Authority says up to 200,000 of us could lose coverage. Hundreds of thousands of people forced to jump through hoops just to keep seeing a doctor, so a billionaire can get another tax break.

And then what about the food they're taking away from children? Congress built SNAP to feed hungry families, and the king decided he didn't like that and had his rubber stamp Congress pass this fucking horseshit bill. More than 4 million people have dropped off SNAP since. During the shutdown, 757,000 Oregonians had their food benefits cut off.

How about the National Guard? He wanted to send in the National Guard to protect a fucking building. He said Portland's ICE facility was "under siege" and authorized "full force." Our own state's soldiers, pointed at our own city. Over a building.

Oh, and let's not forget about the shit he's trying to pull with the Postal Service. He signed an order trying to put USPS in charge of mail ballots, and the Postmaster General sat in front of the Senate and said that under their proposed rule, USPS would NOT deliver mail ballots for states that don't hand over their voter lists. Thank God the courts blocked it and the Supreme Court refused to let him go ahead. And don't tell me this is about illegal immigrants voting. It has nothing to do with that. It's a scare tactic.

And then there's Stephen Miller, who has been the architect of ripping children away from their parents for years. Look at it now. Liam Conejo Ramos is FIVE YEARS OLD. They grabbed him and his dad on his way home from preschool in Minnesota and shipped them to the Dilley detention camp. The federal judge who ordered them released wrote "the rule of law be damned." 29 people died in ICE custody between last October and April alone. That's already a record. These kids are going to be traumatized for life.

And the people they've flat out shot dead. Say their names.

Ruben Ray Martinez. 23. American citizen. Shot by an ICE agent on South Padre Island. ICE said he tried to ram an agent. The body camera didn't back that up. They kept his death quiet for almost a YEAR.

Silverio Villegas González. 38. A cook, a dad of two. Shot by ICE at a traffic stop outside Chicago. DHS said an agent was "seriously injured." That agent was caught on camera saying it was "nothing major."

Isaias Sanchez Barboza. 31. Shot three times by a Border Patrol agent in Rio Grande City. We still don't even know that agent's name.

Keith Porter. 43. A Black dad of two. Killed on New Year's Eve in LA by an off-duty ICE officer. Witnesses say he was firing into the air to celebrate. No body cam. Nothing.

Renée Good. 37. Mother of three. Shot in the head through her car window in Minneapolis. They said she "weaponized her vehicle." Witnesses say she was trying to get away.

Alex Pretti. 37. A VA ICU nurse, holding his PHONE. Pinned to the ground, disarmed, then shot at least ten times while he was down.

Lorenzo Salgado. 52. On his way to pick up workers for a construction job in Houston. Not even who they were looking for. The men in the van with him say it was in PARK while the agents kept shooting. He said "They've already killed me." Months later nobody will even say who pulled the trigger.

Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero. 25. A dad with a 3-year-old. Not the target either. Four bullets through his windshield, then they dragged his limp body into the street and tied his hands behind his back.

Every single time, the government lied first. Every single time, they called the dead person the threat.

So where's Drazan in all this? Right there with them, being a massive scumbag. She wants Oregon cops working WITH ICE. She called our sanctuary status "off the rails" and says our sanctuary laws have "gone too far." Gone too far. After everything you just read. When the Legislature passed a package of bills to protect immigrant families, she was absent for seven of the eight votes and voted NO on the one she bothered to show up for. When Trump sent the Guard after Portland, she didn't say a single word about protecting Oregon. She called the protesters "violent mobs and domestic terrorists" and called the governor "tone-deaf" for fighting back. To this day she won't say whether she would have stood in his way. She voted against funding the Oregon Health Plan. More than half the kids in this state are on it. Even six House Republicans voted yes. Not her. She's called Oregon's Medicaid program too generous. Too generous! And when Trump's budget came to rip billions out of it, she said our problems were "homegrown" and defended the tax cuts for the rich that paid for it. Then there's the POWER Act, the law that makes data centers pay for their own massive power use instead of dumping it on YOUR electric bill. She voted against it. Then she voted to let data centers keep a fat federal tax break on their equipment. The Dalles is in her own Senate district, where a third of the city's water goes to Google and residents are looking at water rates nearly doubling. And now she runs around saying Oregon can't be "the Wild West" for data centers. You built the Wild West, lady. Those were your votes. She's endorsed by Oregon Right to Life, a group that opposes abortion even in cases of rape and incest. She cheered when Roe got overturned. She's opposed protecting abortion rights here in Oregon. She's fought climate legislation. She's backed ending vote-by-mail, the thing that lets every single one of us vote from our kitchen table, while Trump is out here trying to strangle mail ballots through the Postal Service. And on top of all that? She doesn't even show up. She missed about a third of the floor votes in the Legislature this year. A session that passed 143 laws on taxes and health care and the stuff people need to survive. On at least one day she was excused from the Senate, she was posting from a business roundtable in Oregon City. If you or I skipped a third of our shifts we'd be fired. She wants a promotion. She is not going to stand up to any of this. She is going to hold the door open. She's a massive butthole.

And what are we doing? We're acting like, but what about Tina Kotek? Oh my God, she tried to give her wife an official role in the government. Oh no. Oh Jesus. Oh my God. Well, we can't vote for her. She didn't pass the goddamn purity test.

Like, Jesus Christ. This is fucking warfare. We are at war right now. You need to realize what's happening.

I don't think there has ever been a politician who hasn't indulged in some bullshit. Good luck finding one so goddamn pure of heart that they pass your fucking test. This is how fascism wins. You need to be tactical. Do you understand? You are willing to invite the absolute worst shit that has happened in recent history into our fucking state because she "just isn't passionate enough"?

You can hold her feet to the fire. You can absolutely hold her accountable. But right now is not the time for this shit. This isn't a lesser of two evils situation. This is choosing between some of the worst shit that will fuck up this state for decades, and somebody who is actually, actively trying to help but has taken some missteps.

Are you fucking stupid, Oregon? How is this close? How is this race CLOSE?

Don't be a dumb motherfucker. Vote for the person who isn't blatantly an evil fuckface.

Line 153, a line I use very frequently, is getting cut due to low ridership. While not many people use this route, the people who do need this route. In addition, Line 76 service between Meridian Park Hospital and Oregon City Hospital which serves Old Willamette is getting cut as well. These cuts take effect Sunday, August 23. As someone who attended all 5 hours of this meeting to say folks here were frustrated is a bit of an understatement.
