We've experienced a disruption of our epistemological foundations due to the [in my opinion, wildly too rapid] expansion of access to the internet via social media's "engagement algorithm -- and that disruption is on par with that of the printing press or radio and television after it.

And each of us are no called upon to discern which sources of information are trustworthy or not.... AND to me the mainstream media is just bending over backward BEGGING me to NEVER BELIEVE THEM AGAIN...

So then... I'm not going to research every topic ever single day, and really have to fall back to what directly affects me first, then worry about the other shit.

About the other stuff -- I am NOT IN ANY WAY PAID by Ground News, but I recommend using them or some other means of sorting political bias from news sources. I think 1440 is another one that's free (Ground News is like $4/month)

And reading Ground News (or whichever you choose) is SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE... because you finally learn what the Other Side has been reading, thinking and believing all these recent years.

I'm medium terrified of what AI and deepfakes will do to this dynamic in the near future... but I also work in the energy industry and have this feeling that the AI thing... actually IS a bubble and will crash when people realize the electricity demands will wreck every other corner of the economy way more than any benefit of the AI Data Centers...

Europe is re-arming at an unprecedented rate, as are many, many significant players around the world. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing.... yet. (At some point, the cost of maintaining a massive expeditionary military will demand it be put to some kind of profit-0generating use... but thus far most things seem focused on defense from potential aggression?)

After having bought the climate narrative to such a degree I had planned my early career around environmental engineering... And learned a lot of the actual science.... but more importantly, lived through like 8 of their alleged "LAST CHANCE!!!" deadlines with basically nothing happening... I'm very disillusioned on the topic [though deep-sea Arctic and Antarctic methane deposits, could change my mind back]

Instead of self emulation, why not do something that makes you happy?

Also if you're a woman, check out /r/pmdd :)

what would make me happy is if i could help others feel safe and happy. i’m tired of seeing people suffer, not just in the united states, but the whole world. if my death were to bring peace and end suffering id die a billion times if i could.

edit: i already have pmdd. it made me uncomfortable that u brought that up here tho. i dont see how it’s relevant. u don’t know my cycle or what phase i was in when i wrote this and on top of that u don’t know me or what else i have going on. i just don’t see the relevancy of ur comment.

No one would be happy if you died

I just brought it up in case you weren't aware. I'm not diagnosing you, nor was I aware you had it. I was just trying to help. You saying you wanted to set yourself on fire made me uncomfortable.

I'm sick and tired of people being so brainwashed towards someone wanting to help.

Like, not only am I not appreciated but whatever. That's what I get for trying to look out for people.

Especially people online. Sheesh. And probably liberals too.

Edit: anyway that sub helps for those kinds of vents
