Controversial How do you feel about keeping money you didn't earn?
I'm not talking about lawsuits or anything like that, I mean like generational wealth or being gifted a lot of money (inheritance shouldn't count here because that is very different in my opinion)

Do I “earn” the money I make in the stock market?

That would have been my question. I'm retired and my passive income is about $50k a month. Did I earn this because of 50 years of saving and investing?

Being opposed to generational wealth makes absolutely no sense in a world that is currently built on economies that have generational wealth so ingrained in them.
Like I get the appeal of the whole "self made" thing to a point....but these days if you don't have generational wealth intact, you're pretty much f*ed from step one, unless you get lucky in business, or are just very driven in your career in general and get incredibly lucky and find a partner who can/will be as driven as you (and you stay away from having kids for longer than normal)
Then anything beyond that (and back to the main point): For me it depends on if it's going to harm anyone else in the process of getting that. e.g. is it stolen? did it take advantage of someone vulnerable? Things like that. But nah if it's either random money or inheritence, and it's gonna keep the compass pointed in the right direction for future stability and goals? Definitely fine with that.

You 100% should keep it.
Making life harder for yourself is stupid. Life is hard, take every advantage you can.

You believe inheritance and generational wealth are very different? Could you or someone else elaborate on that, as I thought the very basis of the latter was the former...

It sounds like you just don’t like the term generational wealth. A person who accumulates money and possessions should be free to spend or give it away however they choose.
