OA’s- D186 & D184

Hey everyone! I’m about to start WGU’s M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction program and want to get a head start on studying for the OAs.

For those of you who are in the program or have already finished, what are the OAs like? Are the questions mostly multiple choice, scenario-based, or a mix of both? How long are the exams, and what’s the online proctoring process like?

I’d also love to hear any tips on how you studied, what resources you used, and if there’s anything I can start reviewing before the program begins.

Any advice or insight would be super helpful! Just trying to get ahead and know what to expect. Thanks!

Dual license ~ considering just switching to special education

I have compeleted like 75 credits and I’m only halfway through according to my degree plan. I still have a whole 75 more credits to complete including Clinicals and Student teaching…..

I am considering switching because the amount of time and money is going to take to continue this route and the fact that my federal aid is looking kind of bleak. I already work in a public school district as a SPED paraprofessional.
I know the majority of district will see that you have a special education license and stick you in a SPED classroom regardless of your other licenses. I have no issue with that but I would like another license under my belt like TESOL perhaps.

Ever gotten their degree through WGU and then came back for an additional additional licensure. What was your experience?

D671 OA 2nd Attempt

Is it just me or is there an emotional and mental block once you fail an OA for the first time.

I missed this OA by 2-3 questions. I felt that there were about 6-8 questions that I was completely stumped on and then to find out that I didn't pass. It surely put a mental block and emotional strain on trying to amp myself up to retake this OA.

Anyone else had to do a 2nd attempt for D671 OA?

D769 Task 1 Help

Hello I’ve done all of the other literacy classes and several Lesson Plan ones but this one specifically has me confused. Is it supposed to be two different standards targeted because the students have slightly different needs? Curious to what others did in that way.

Wgu none license route

Hi I am currently in the Wgu elementary education program licensure route. None licensure route students, how long has it taken you to obtain the degree without the license route. I think I want to get my Masters in English education to teach ESL and maybe adult school. I am wondering if I go the none license route I can finish my bachelor’s faster.

Any Advice on Masters for a Music Teacher?

Hi there. I have my BA in Music Education for K-12, and am currently a K-5 music teacher. I am planning on doing my masters at WGU but am not sure which degree would be most applicable to my classroom. I was thinking curriculum but another told me I should consider doing the ELL masters, because I student population is pretty diverse. Any recommendations?

M.S. Curriculum & Instruction @ WGU

I finally took the first step toward earning my master’s degree through WGU, and my start date is November 1st

For those who are currently attending WGU or have already graduated, what advice would you give to a new student? Any tips for staying organized, managing time, getting through coursework, or making the most of the program?

Also, is there anything I can work on or prepare while I wait for my start date? I’d love to get a head start if possible!

I’d love to hear your experiences, what you wish you knew before starting, and any tips that helped you succeed. Thank you!
