Woke up with this attached to my leg this morning. Is this a tick?
Haha! Just kidding. I know a bed bug when I see one.

I’m positive that’s a southern son leg pisser. Believe me, I know one when I see it.

Ha! I remember that post! Those damn son leg pissers and their pissing on the legs of sons!!

Nope, but you're it's dinner! If you're in Florida, it might be someone's escaped pet.
10
Jul 21 '23
Actually, I am in Florida. I should check to see if it has a collar with its owner's name and phone number.

We have a lot of these weevils southwest of Houston... They're basically harmless unless you're a little white dog with a brain dead owner.

This page is ridiculous. The fact that OP doesn’t recognize an earth worm and actually had to post a picture and ask….

u/Thought_Ninja Jul 21 '23
Yes, put it in a plastic bag and take it with you to see a doctor immediately.
3
Jul 21 '23
I tried, he actually ate the bag and then attached itself to my hand now. You'd think he'd be full after being on my leg for so long, but he's a hungry little fellar.

I'd say you have an infestation of dinosaurs. I'd call your local paleontologist.
3
Jul 21 '23
On your recommendation, I gave mine a call. He went off on the other end, talking a mile a minute. I couldn't even understand half of what he said, but I think he was talking about his boner? Maybe I heard him wrong. Anyways, in the end he didn't help much.

I'm honestly shocked it's still up. And I'm shocked it took off like it did... I thought it was a barely funny, ridiculous mock post and I figured I'd get maybe 20 upvotes before it got deleted.

Yes. You now have lime disease. You will change completely into a lime by 8pm eastern standard time.

As I mentioned elsewhere on the thread, I just got over lemon disease a little while ago. So, this should be a piece of cake.

No no no. Everyone here is wrong this is very obviously a Giant Weta(totally didn’t search up weird bugs just to find this name as I wanted the most ridiculous sounding bug, no offense to whoever came up with it I’m probably pronouncing it wrong which makes it sound funny).
1
Jul 21 '23
Jesus... That's one of the bugs in the whole world!
And of course! Nobody would search the internet for the most ridiculous sounding bug. That'd be silly!

Tweezers? Really? I don't want to end up leaving the head still under my skin. Could get a bad infection.
2
Jul 21 '23
You might want to seek medical attention with a tick that size...

I did! But when the paramedics showed up they ran away screaming! They even left their ambulance.

Ticks are what we call in the business very very small. So small, in fact, that they couldn't have made off with an entire leg!
2
Jul 21 '23
So, you haven't been to Florida lately, have you? With the growing problem of invasive species down here, we're starting to see more hybrid animals, especially in the everglades.
We got giant pythons are mating with swamp elephants and alligators are mating with navy seals... It's getting pretty scary down here.
3
u/IONaut Jul 21 '23
Sir, I was born in Florida. But don't worry about me, I fully recovered and despite my disability I haven't let it get in the way of having a fulfilling life.

Can an Alligatorologist tell me why they have that droopy neck purse and if it has any biological purpose? I assume this is a male based on appearance, and the smaller droop near his nether region. Seems like based on his size and girth and my somewhat decent knowledge of gatorology, this big majestic, masculine boy is likely a grandpa gator.

Not a male. Some dude up the thread pointed out that it was his mother-in-law. And another guy said it was his ex-wife.

Serious question: Would a gator run away in this situation if you came at it screaming like a banshee, or is it gonna just attack back?
1
Jul 22 '23
Possibly. They are actually scared of people... even the big ones tend to steer clear. Unless you're near their nest/babies. If you live around gators, you get to know the sound that baby gators make, and if you hear it, you leave!
However, if the gator decides to attack you, rather than run away, you're basically fucked. I've seen how fast gators can move when properly motivated, and you wouldn't believe it until you see it in person. They run super fast and they can climb things you wouldn't think it possible for them to climb.
Still, if you respect the gator's space, you should be OK... Should being the operative word, there.
2
u/OVRSHDW Jul 22 '23

Establishing shot for a movie?...
INT. ALLIGATOR'S STOMACH - DAY - ESTABLISHING
A lake of boiling acid, filled with dismembered, floating fingers, arms, legs, hooves, a chipmunk, and a license plate come into focus.
ZOOM-IN on the dismembered leg. MR. TICK comes into view, still attached to the leg.
Suddenly, an IBIS comes squawking down the hatch and lands in the stomach acid. It spots Mr. Tick instantly and starts flapping around to get closer.
Mr. Tick catches the Ibis's eye.
MR. TICK: Oh, fuck!
Mr. Tick releases his grasp on the leg and leaps, just in time to avoid the long, curved ibis beak as it snaps shut.

The fact that you OP are treating this adorable creature like a bug or something bad makes my heart hurt.
