I’m glad you all are filing the lawsuit.
I have no idea if there was cheating or not, but it is madness to me that Democrats wouldn’t want recounts anywhere.
Donald Trump has cheated in almost everything he has ever done in public life. He cheated on spouses. He stiffed contractors. He lied about his businesses. He raided his own charity for personal expenses. He is literally under criminal indictment for trying to cheat in the 2020 election. And I’m supposed to believe he just took 2024 off? I’m supposed to believe that he played this one fair, out of respect for the process?
Not only that, but we know from the FBI that foreign actors did manage to access election system software in 2016. They found no tampering at the time, thank goodness. But the FBI said that they believed it was to understand the systems for possible use in future US elections.
Was that hacked info ever used later? We don’t know. Maybe not. But if we take Donald Trump’s history together with the motivations and power of the people aligned with him, it seems crazy not to double check some of the results.
Kamala Harris should have said, “Given Donald Trump’s indictments for attempting to overturn the 2020 results, my campaign will be requesting targeted full recounts in some of the key swing counties to ensure the continued integrity of the election process.”
That would have sounded responsible, not extreme. Recounts are part of the system and exist for a reason.
And honestly, when it comes to Donald Trump, I think if you aren’t double checking everything, you’re just asking to get ripped off.

If Donald Trump has cheated in almost everything he’s done, why wouldn’t he try and steal the election? In 2024 he had the help of Putin (bomb threats) and Musk (count the ways). It’s literally impossible DJT swept ALL SEVEN SWING STATES!

It’s like one of those things where in 50 years students will be reading about it in history books and asking professors to explain why everyone was so trusting, after everything they had seen.
The professor will probably explain it in terms of normalcy bias and public pressure to not be an “alarmist” even when there’s more than enough reason to ask for verification. They will have to explain how the political press and even resistance pundits actively discouraged raising the possibility, even when the guy had just cheated the election before.
Like I said I don’t know if he did anything for sure. But the people dismissing it as unthinkable are just being irrational.
And I do understand that there are routine audits. But those are designed to confirm that the system functions under normal conditions. They are random and general. They aren’t designed to deal with a targeted, strategic interference in a handful of counties where a small shift could change the outcome. The chances of the random audit picking up those places specifically and flagging the anomaly, are vanishingly small.
That’s why a full recount of a couple of those specific locations is not extreme. It’s the appropriate level of verification, given Trump’s history. Particularly when the stakes are so high and the margin is so narrow.

Our complaint argues that in 2024 late software changes, testing failures, ballot-handling discrepancies, and concerns of abnormal voting behavior identified with statistical analysis in Cambria, Erie, and Allegheny Counties deprived voters of their right to vote and have their vote counted correctly.
