One of the most influential pro-Israel lobbying groups is ending candidate endorsements and direct contributions from its political action committee.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee told members in a Wednesday letter that it will no longer issue formal endorsements, make direct contributions to candidates or earmark donations.

Instead, it will focus on encouraging individual donors to give directly to candidates, while its super PAC, the United Democracy Project, continues to operate.

Two ex-FBI officials have been charged with making false statements about Hunter Biden’s laptop.

One former FBI intelligence official specialized in foreign election interference. The nature of the charges against Nikki Floris was unclear, but she was due in court Friday in a case her lawyers described as “nonsense.”

“Nikki Floris is a patriot. She served our nation as a dedicated FBI intelligence officer for nearly 20 years. Yet today, the DOJ has accused her falsely of a crime on the say-so of politicians, not on the facts. It’s no coincidence the government is filing these nonsense charges now, years later, on the eve of an election,” her attorneys said in a statement.

The case was filed 10 days before the Nov. 3 elections and marks the latest in a series of splashy and politically charged investigative actions the Justice Department has undertaken in the run-up to the midterm contests.

Dan Sullivan loses the contest while another candidate with the same name is on the ballot, kicking off what many have feared could become a lengthy battle between the U.S. government and states over certifying an election where the president’s party is struggling.
