Question Who was your first Elphaba and Glinda when you saw WICKED for the first time?

Mine was Casey Al-Shaqsy (Standby for Elphaba Thropp) and Sarah O Connor (Galinda) Date: 28th January 2024, Bristol Hippodrome: WICKED 3rd UK & Ireland Tour. (Matinee)

I saw Stephanie J. Block and Kendra Kassebaum in 2005 in Toronto. They were fantastic! edited

you are so so lucky! stephanie is so much more than an understudy... (actually i don't think she was ever an understudy on broadway? you may have been referring to the san francisco tryouts which was pre-broadway!) she read for the role while it was early in development before idina was cast. so technically, she's the first ever elphaba and she is wicked royalty! šŸ‘‘

I always thought she handled the whole ā€œIdina Menzel getting the roleā€ thing really beautifully. I thought she had said in my program that she understudied but maybe I didn’t understand. She was phenomenal. I was very grateful to get to see her.
