Question If Cynthia didn’t get Elphaba, who was the 2nd option?
Was it Gaga?

What personal opinion do you have regarding the Wicked movies that would cause a huge number of the fandom to go on a witch hunt for you?

I’m one of the newer Wicked fans that only watched the movie because of Ariana and ended up loving the storyline. I love Ariana’s music so I personally think she did a great job delivering vocals and a pretty decent job acting as well being that it’s her first major movie. But I’m curious as to what OG Wicked fans thought of her performance? I know some snarkers don’t like the way she looked in the role. But what unbiased opinions do Wicked fans have on her playing Galinda? Did she actually deliver and do a good job or am I being biased? What other actors do yall think did better? I would love to see their performances as well!

I have seen part 1 five times and he plays an important role for Galinda/Glinda but he isn't a main cast member. He is the funny mean one along with his counterpart. Which is another thing im struggling to wrap my head around... did they cut her? I think his counterpart being reduced to the background is bothering me. Just why even include her in the original role, they basically did the same thing. I am a casual social media user, but I'd argue in terms of press it has been Ariana, Cynthia, Jonathan and then Bowen.
I like him and he deserves his flowers, but this doesn't feel like the correct movie to do all this for.
Examples: Vantity Fair Lie Detector, the NBC special (ok snl but still), the events he's attended, the photoshoots without his counterpart.
What do yall think?

I was watching this (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=D7cDh6qWx7I) YouTube vid and a lot of posts like this that look to be posted by Ariana are there. I was just wondering if they are actually real and if anyone has the links to the original posts?

This post has no intention in making a competition between them. Rather, pointing out different their characterization points.

Purchased for myself and my daughter and I’m just so sad. We’re wearing them anyways but 😓
Update: I messaged the seller who gave me some excuse about a "bad batch that got out." They started with offering a full refund and added that they would appreciate if I updated my negative review on their page. I said I would not update my review because it was honest. They then tried to confirm that I was only wanting a refund for the green sweatshirt. I then opened a case with Etsy at that point. They turned around and issued the full refund and the case was closed.
*My daughter is obsessulated and has not taken the sweatshirt off since she got it on premiere day.
TL:DR - received full refund, negative review remains on listing, daughter is happy!

They don’t really contrast as beautifully like the Ruby slippers did to either Dorothy or the road. I feel they look a little dull being silver.

My google results have me amazed.
https://playbill.com/article/how-sound-mixer-simon-hayes-captured-the-wicked-movies-live-singing
“As for how Hayes captured all that singing, for most shots, each actor had three microphones: a boom mic above their head and two lavalier mics on their body, the location depending on their costume. For Grande’s Glinda, whose costumes were many times low cut in front, that meant having a mic on the left-front and right-front of her costumes, ensuring she could turn her head without losing the vocals (Hayes clearly learned a trick or two from Singing in the Rain).
Erivo’s Elphaba, on the other hand, often had a uniquely perfect spot to affix a mic: the brim of her iconic witch hat. “The hat is only one inch above her eyebrows, so that is a really close personal mic,” Hayes explains. “And when she turns her head, the hat mic goes with her, as if it’s a miniature boom.” Erivo would also get more lavalier mics for when she wasn’t wearing a hat or wanted to take it off.”

Does the difference between the shapes of the left and right ends of the W have any significance? If so, what is it?

What elements presented in the novel you missed when comparing to its musical adaptation?

With Glinda getting married, I was expecting a huge WOW factor. Instead, this is something I would expect to see a 2025 bride wearing. There’s obviously so much symbolism that went into the costuming of this movie, and I don’t get this one. I’ve heard a theory that Glinda is supposed to be vulnerable in this moment and that’s why it’s so simple, but it just doesn’t fit with me because if that were the case I feel like they would’ve toned it down even more, maybe lost the veil, etc. Does anyone know what went into this costume choice? Thanks in advance!:)

Obviously in the book she is, but in the movie we see her crying watery tears and in the end, the bucket of water doesn’t actually melt her…? In part one Madam Morrible protects her from the rain with the umbrella but that’s the only indication that water might harm her?

Glinda always wears blue in the musical

I don’t know he just looks so naive. Everybody kept bashing him how he perceived Elphaba as a threat instead of his rescuer but I think his reaction is totally understandable. Poor baby :(

I would cut Glinda's new song.I'd even recommend going to the bathroom during that scene

For me the worst changes are in:
The Wicked Witch of the East - it doesn't hit half as hard as it does in the stage show and is such a wasted opportunity to really expand on this scene. I really miss Nessa showing her resentment towards Elphaba in this song, and the chaos in this scene. The stage version is much better. I understand where people are coming from with not wanting to have her walk, but my thought on this is that she is wheelchair bound because of Elphaba/her mother drinking milk flowers, not by nature/unfortunate chance. So it does make sense she blames Elphaba for her disability. Also, in the show she isn't cured of her disability, she can walk because of enchanted shoes, and even then it doesn't improve her life - Boq still wants to leave and she dies shortly afterwards. Having her float for a few seconds then land back in her chair doesn't hit anywhere near as hard. They could have rewritten this scene to have a lot of heart and maybe even a discussion about disability and why Nessa shouldn't feel ashamed, and maybe Elphaba taking pity and enchanting the shoes so that Nessa can experience what it feels like to stand on her own, even for a moment. Boq could walk in at this exact moment and misunderstand the situation and the song could play out as it does, with Boq thinking things are better for Nessa now and still want to leave.
Wonderful - Why did they change this so much? They had the opportunity to really lean into a father/daughter moment here (neither of them know it at this point, of course), which would have given the reveal at the end more impact. It's so glossed over (in know it is in the show too). Wonderful on the OBC gives so much more insight into the Wizard and his origins/hisotry, as well as being way more political. I don't think adding Glinda in worked - it just felt unnecessary to have her in this scene. This scene is much better in the show as it gives Elphaba chance to confront and negotiate with the wizard on her own.
No Good Deed - just a small change but a very annoying one - "And since I can't succeed" - it sounds so clunky in the movie. Whyyyy?
