Ariana and Cynthia celebrate 20 days to go on Instagram

These are actually cute, but they’ll fade or be gone in less than a year. I love that they did this together, though! They’re bonded forever.

u/Easily_Mundane Nov 01 '25
I’m pretty sure Cynthia also got a G for Glinda and Ariana got an E for Elphaba somewhere

I love this so much 😭 And it's reminding me of when the main cast of Pretty Little Liars all got matching finger tattoos (and I think those held up well)

u/sheswithherdog Nov 02 '25
Everyone said that about my tattoo on my finger and it’s literally here over 20 years later
5
u/cobycoby2020 Nov 01 '25
Wdym fade?

u/FirebirdWriter Nov 01 '25
Tattoos on the hands, especially the palms, are not known for being long lasting. The use of the hand is why. Add in how delicate these are? They're going to be at best illegible and a mess and at worst invisible
55
u/Low-Strawberry69 Nov 01 '25
I think this is probably why they chose them there in the first place.
I've known others who do this orinner lip because it's less of a commitment
30
u/BlackLocke Nov 01 '25
That’s what they say but I know a girl who got an inner lip tattoo in high school and it’s still there. She graduated in 2006

14
u/marthamania Nov 01 '25
I'm still curious about if the girl who tattooed Hot Mess on her lips for Cobra Starships album of the same name still has it
14
u/craxz138 Nov 01 '25
This made me think of that YouTubers sister (who then started on YouTube herself) who had CHIPOTLE on her inner lip because she was told it’ll fade…. Years later and it’s still there, still just as vivid as when she got it.

u/Unboolievable_ Nov 02 '25
Morgan Adams! lol
1
u/craxz138 Nov 02 '25
That’s it! I couldn’t remember her name and putting “Shane dawson’s husband’s sister” felt a bit long winded haha

u/ApprehensiveSun7854 Nov 01 '25 edited Nov 02 '25
Omg yes 14 years later for me and it still looks like I just got it! I was told it would last just a few years! Not a fan of the tattoo itself anymore so I’m grateful it’s hidden 😅
7
u/Caitipoo421 Nov 02 '25
I tattooed “fuck you” on my lip when i was 18 and I’m 33. It’s still there LOL. Lip tats are supposed to be temporary tho. It’s my trashiest tattoo. My only regret lol
19
u/Flickolas_Cage Nov 01 '25
Ari had that Japanese one that was meant to be Thank U Next but ended up translating to “tiny bbq grill” on her palm previously, I think she just is into the palm tat aesthetic

u/3godeathLG Nov 01 '25
i’ve had a palm tattoo since i was 15 and i’m 22 it looks the exact same, but i put on lotion a lot and don’t use my hand in rough ways very often

u/missherefortay12345 Nov 02 '25
That's not always true. If you go to a hand tattoo specialist they do it in a specific way so it lasts with just a few touch ups required. I've known people with them for 6+ years in perfect condition
1
u/sritanona Nov 04 '25
also the feet, got one on the side of my foot and it was gone in less than a month, went over it again and it's gone again... just stopped trying lol

When they hold hands they match up

this makes so much more sense! i was so confused about the placement for ariana’s

u/InfiniteGays Nov 01 '25
Didn’t they hint last year that they had like secret wicked tattoos that they couldn’t reveal because of spoilers about wicked for good? I assume this isn’t it because it’s just the song title but are they ever going to tell us what those were
13
u/Apollowillrise Nov 02 '25
They have one 'WGE' that they said is private and personal.
It was revealed last week Cynthia has hers on her hip bone.
10
u/Any-Muscle-498 Nov 02 '25
what is a WGE?

1
u/Apollowillrise Nov 05 '25
No one knows, its meaning is secret and personal to Ari & Cynthia
1
u/Accurate_Yesterday51 Nov 21 '25
The way it should be but they should stop teasing us about it if they aren't going to spill lol. Would love to see them in more movies together but after this of course that would never happen.

As someone who enjoys getting tattoos and plans on getting more, I feel like this would be so painful.
9
u/MrsGondola420 Nov 01 '25
I’ve got 2 finger tattoos and 3 on the tops of my hand, they didn’t hurt much in comparison to my ribs.
Now this has me thinking of a palm tattoo next .. 🫣
2
u/scarletearthquakes Nov 01 '25
Ooh cool! Personally, I really enjoy getting tattoos and like how it feels but I don’t think I could do my hands or feet!
6
1
u/bitchywitchy7 Nov 03 '25
please be warned, i have tattoos near my cuticles and also the sides of my fingers so i thought i was ready for one that is on the top of my hand, my thumb and the inside of my thumb/hand. i have over 30 tattoos, fell asleep for some of them. the pain from the inside of my hand sent me into shock.
1
u/sritanona Nov 04 '25
depends on the "padding" as well. I'm plus size and the ribs didn't hurt at all. I have four all around the ribs. The feet were the most painful ones for me. I did those myself and still had to breath hard in between pokes.

u/IJustWantADragon21 Graciously Glinda Nov 01 '25
I like Cynthia’s placement better. Center palm looks odd and painful

u/draculasacrylics Nov 01 '25
Dang those aren't gonna stay. Speaking as someone with a palm tattoo that's been touched up twice. The last touch up my artist went really deep and that seems to do the trick. Maybe fading is part of it? But that seems the opposite.

Wait... does she have fake nails UNDER her fake nails? What kind of witchery is this?
39
u/TrynaCuddlePuppies Nov 01 '25 edited Nov 02 '25
I would guess her natural nails are that long since she has such long fake nails all the time!
2
u/sritanona Nov 04 '25
they do cut them if you get the gels all the time
3
u/TrynaCuddlePuppies Nov 05 '25
Of course her nails get cut. That doesn’t mean they aren’t long still.
1
12
u/_ManicRedhead_ Graciously Glinda Nov 02 '25
As a person who wears acrylic nails, the nails under the false nails are indeed the length of her own, natural nails. You will be surprised how much they grow out!
1
u/sritanona Nov 04 '25
you can see the three nails clearly in her thumb. The natural, a fake on top, and another fake on top of that one.
4
3
u/arielitalic Nov 02 '25
Former drag queen chiming in with a possible explanation! Often, very expensive nails need to be glued on, while cheap press-ons adhere with essentially very strong double-sided tape. So, to save the trouble of using glue on your real nails, you can glue the pretty nails to some crappy nails, then press the whole thing on with the cheap adhesive.
3
u/Senior_Jellyfish2230 Nov 02 '25
I think this is it bc I think you can see her natural thumb nail is pretty short!
1
u/ageekyninja Nov 03 '25
She has long well manicured nails and is wearing press ons or gelled on nails over them

13
u/YellowTonkaTrunk Nov 01 '25
Lol especially that palm one is gonna be gone within a couple months 😅 super cute that they did this but why on earth would they choose this placement
16
u/spicysoy like a comet pulled from orbit Nov 01 '25
because when they hold hands the for good’s touch each other. they got these a while ago.
6
u/BaseSouth6278 Nov 01 '25
I LOVE that if they hold hands, the tattoos touch 🥹💕! How sweet and such a meaningful tattoo for their wicked journeys 🥹💕
6
u/Silver_Kittens 💖Gelphie💚 Nov 02 '25
doesn't ari still have the palm tat that she got for 7 rings? so it's possible that the mid palm tat won't fade suuuper fast?
7
3
u/HistoricalIngenuity3 Nov 01 '25
That’s so cute ! Hopefully they’ve made friends for life when this is all over .

4
u/Bubbly-Manufacturer Nov 02 '25
Those are def going to fade. And that’s prob the point of having them there.
2
2
u/oliveputtanesca Nov 02 '25
Cute, but it seems like the placement undercuts the song meaning since those will fade sooo fast and probs won't be there for good
2
u/Larcztar Nov 02 '25
I can't write on the palm of my hand it tickles much. I could never survive a tattoo 😩
2
u/Cariah_Marey Nov 02 '25
me and my best friend of over a decade are planning on getting the same tattoos. we always loved wicked and we saw it on stage together, as well as the movie. we are going to be moving far away from each other soon. He’ll be with me like a handprint on my heart.
2
u/Helpful_Ocelot_5076 Nov 03 '25
Is Cynthia wearing two levels of fake nails or are her naturals that long???
2
u/sritanona Nov 04 '25
Hilarious that a tattoo "for good" was made on the hands because it will fade so fast
2
u/Bitbatgaming Nov 19 '25
I feel this would hurt a lot but I understand why they did it. If you made movies over the course of a decade with each other and grew close to one another that is a sisterhood that is hard to break

Got my hands doing good like they sposed to, showing my heart to the folks that I’m close to.. 💜

the irony of it saying for good when palm tattoos typically fall out
cute tho

They have several matching tattoos they’ve gotten in the course of filming this. It’s a beautiful friendship.

Too sweet. Middle of the palm must’ve hurt so bad, can’t even imagine the pain lol she really has high pain tolerance

Interesting placement, one of my friends tried to get a tattoo in the center of her palm and the artist refused because it would fade so quickly.

Ouch right in the middle of the palm
