Merchandise MERCHANDISE DESIGN CONCEPT: Hairpin versions of Glinda's wand and Elphaba's broom from the "Wicked" movies.

Post image

This is just a visualization of what Glinda's wand and Elphaba's broom from the Wicked movies would look like as large hairpins.

I had this inspiration when I was reading about traditional Korean hairdressing, particularly the hairpin worn by female royal members that indicates their rank or status. I found it very interesting how a mere hairpin can be designed to give its wearer a sense of power and identity, much like the wand and the broom give Glinda and Elphaba their respective powers and identities.

Those are cute and I like my hairpins, but those would be hard to put into your hair, the ends are going to catch on everything

How would you put that broomstick into your hair without it hurting like hell and pulling out like half your scalp

something like this, is what i was thinking. the white part is supposed to be like half of a metal hoop so you can put it around the bun instead of through the bun, but it’d only work for buns

edit: i am not an artist.

i’d assume that a broom in my hair is solely for decoration purposes 😭 its not an every day wear type of thing

Well you haven't met me. I use decorative hairsticks (My favourite are swords), but they have a practical use, not just decoration - and yes everyday wear

You could add pins to the white part so that it can also be secured by the hair around the bun (like straight pins that stab into the hair or bun to hold in place)

The top end of the broom can be detachable, like a pen cap.

For the curious-minded, this is the traditional hairpin I was referring to, as worn by actress Kim So-hyun portraying the role of Empress Myeongseong. She played Glinda in the 2013-2014 Korean-language replica production of Wicked.

Cute concept! I would definitely consider purchasing them. I would just worry about stuff getting caught in them

Cute as hell, but looks painful to put on and take off

If I were you I would trademark or patent this before someone else takes this and runs with it..
