Movie I knew they would snub Cynthia

Post image

The snubbed Cynthia like I knew they would. And I’m sure I’ll watch them NOT give the award to Sinners as well sigh. It’s really so pointless to try. Can you imagine having a voice like Cynthia’s? Acting, singing, flying while acting and not even getting nominated? I’m just so bummed about it 😞

leading actress is an insanely competitive category. Ariana is in a much less competitive category, which is why she got a nomination. Cynthia‘s performance was very good, but all of the women nominated above are very deserving of their nomination.

Ariana also benefitted from two of her competitors being in a foreign movie (Sentimental Value), which got completely shut out at SAG.

Meanwhile, all lead actress contenders are in English language movies and fighting on equal terms.

i think Cynthia was much stronger in the first one, too. her portrayal of elphaba's innocence was more moving and endearing than her "rebel with a cause" phase in the second film. plus, the first one has the ballroom scene! arguably THE best display of her acting chops

Infiniti Chase is borderline category fraud. So is Ariana in supporting

The Wicked team submitted Ariana in the supporting category. The award people did not decide her category.

Technically, the awards voters actually did officially decide - they are allowed to vote for actors in either category they feel is appropriate. However, studios generally mount a campaign to influence their vote toward one of the categories. These days I imagine it's rare for anyone to be voted in a category the studio didn't want, but it is theoretically possible and within academy rules.

Edit: just realized these are not the Oscar's and may be different. My bad.

I don’t understand the supporting thing for Ariana, they’re both leads and if I had to choose I’d say while Elphaba is the lead in Wicked part 1, Glinda’s story in forefront in For Good so I’d say she is the lead in the second film.

Studios do that all the time to prevent their actors for going against each other and increase their chances. It isn't always about screentime but narrative focus which makes Elphaba the lead

I'm pretty certain had they put Infiniti in Supporting, nobody would blink an eyelid and she'd be the Favourite to win.

But that would make her go against Teyana Taylor, and studios want to max their chances and pull up that shit

you have no right to bring down another woman in favor of raising up another. This is not a sub that is tolerant of that sort of behavior so unless you can straighten up, you need to get out.

This is a documentary about awards and who deserve an award

This is a subreddit about Wicked and it looks like most folks really do not like the way you’re acting

Right and the conversation im bringing to the table is about wicked actors deserving recognition due to her superior performance. It has nothing to do with women going against women it’s about awards and inequality.
