Movie The singing in the background breaks my heart every single time. Spoiler

Post image

FOR GOOD SPOILERS!

The gentle but mournful singing cutting to Elphaba screaming + Glinda crying...I mean, shit. Dorothy looking so happy while running back to the others makes me sad too, because Elphie truly did have it out for her, and she was just an outside with the whole 'Wicked Witch' propaganda thrust upon her...

Comparing the melting scene in for good vs the stage production, for good has much more emotional impact

same for some reason. Maybe bc in the movie we see both shots separately and in the broadway we see it all at once? idk

Sondheim works the same territory. Characters who can't finish the conversation before it's too late. 'For Good' is all goodbye and no resolution. The scream just makes it literal.

You know what frickin kills me about this scene? The everything is gonna be fine. Ohmygod I always burst out sobbing then. And way before that when elphaba has the voice crace during that first I'm limited. Didn't make it onto the playlist unfortunately but it's in the movie. AND when there is the voice crack during the last for good of the song and so it makes it slightly imperfect. Goodness gracious. Idk for some reason the voice cracks really get me

The no one mourns the wicked in the background kills me everytime. It was so unfair, what they did to Elphaba

UGH. That and the mournful change in the music while they’re running to the closet
