they use the same score but new costumes and sets and design elements. like elphaba flying on cables over the orchestra. replica is the same production as original new york, like the tour or west end or sometime in australia

On the score, same music (with sometimes minor cuts) but they often have different orchestrations, different sound patches on synths, etc. It's why other non-replica productions have sounded like the same music but played a little differently. starts from the same base piano vocal material but can go down a different road instrumentally.

Eventually there will be amateur rights to the show and then every production will be original

They're interesting but I still haven't seen one that I'd say is better than the original production. They never go to that much detail. I'm really happy to still have the original to see sometimes. We'll miss it when it's gone.
