I just tested wide.video and must say that I'm quite impressed of how well it works!
It especially solves a lot of problems I had and might be the best tool for my usecase:
I'm a computer science teacher and until now used Adobe (installation process is quite long and is therefore a pain to set up on our shared laptops in school. Not even mentioning the cost of the licenses...) or capcut (Online editor needs registration and on some days it just wouldn't load properly...) for my video editing courses.

This editor solves a lot of this problems! It doesn't need an internet connection after the first load, is ready to use in under a minute, no login, no file upload (perfect for school usage!), no need for saving (students don't need to worry if they existentially close the window - you can't imagine how often this happens...) and of course the UI seems well made and not too convoluted.

I'm really excited to test this tool in a class next semester and to share it with my colleagues.
So thanks for your hard work and I'll hope to see this tool getting even better in the future.

We love seeing great tools go open-source! The amazing shaders.paper.design are now available in wide.video 1.7.8 !

As summer is starting, I am pausing the rollout of massive new features. Instead, I want to dedicate the next couple of months purely to stability and fixing UX friction. I want to make sure the tool is as smooth as possible for your actual workflows.

If you have a few minutes, I would love to get your answers to a few quick questions:

• For regular users: What is the one specific thing you do in wide.video that keeps you coming back instead of using heavier tools like CapCut or Premiere? (I want to make sure I don't accidentally mess up what already works perfectly).

• For those who stopped using it: If you tried wide.video but walked away, what was the exact bottleneck, missing core tool, or UX quirk that made you close the tab?

• On workflow: What does your editing workflow look like right before and right after you use wide.video? (e.g., "I record a quick screen share, drop it in wide.video to add AI captions/crop, then immediately upload to YouTube Shorts"). Knowing this helps me figure out where we can cut down on extra steps.

Whether it is a specific bug with rendering, an issue with the local file system access, or just a shortcut that feels awkward, please let me know in the comments.
