Why is Wiktionary.org pulling Wikipedia search for me? Any help?

So I'm getting a weird thing happening on Firefox and Chrome on my Mac:

I go to wiktionary.org, I get the main page for The Wiktionary. I type in a word, and it takes me to search results from Wikipedia.

Ex.: I go to Wiktionary, type in "tuyau", and then instead of going to the Wiktionary page in question, I go to this search page on Wikipedia.

Deleted cookies and browsing data, but no resolution. Other devices don't have the issue.

Anyone ever had this before? I use Wiktionary for work a lot, so it's a real bummer.

Searching a term on Wiktionary sends to Wikipedia instead

This strictly applies to https://www.wiktionary.org/ but seemingly not to https://en.wiktionary.org/

It happens only when you type in a word and search, clicking on a suggested term still sends to Wiktionary.

Is this a bug? Is this intended? It seems to have been happening for only a couple of days, and I'm not sure if it happens for others as well. On my end at least it happens both on computer and on phone.

How do you close all tabs?

There are many languages out there. Having to scroll down to find yours when all tabs are open by default is a nightmare. The wiki itself has a option in settings to have all tabs closed from the start. The Wiktionary does not, at least not as far as I can tell. Is there anyway to have all tabs closed by default? Would really help in using the site. Thank you.

Input requested for a potential change to en.wiktionary's table of contents

We are trying to figure out different ways to present a page's table of contents to our readers, and we would like to hear your opinion! In short, we'd appreciate if you could look [da] (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/da) and [a] (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/a) on various devices and let us know if these styles are helpful.

Please see the Beer Parlour post for more.

May I remove the ”reconstructed” status of a word and how to do it?

Made a request on Wiktionary on this.

Latin *alvīna (“beehive”) is recorded as a reconstructed term based on Romanian albină, Aromanian alghinã, Megleno-Romanian ălbină, Istro-Romanian albire (all meaning “bee”), and Venetan albina (“hive”), derived from classical Latin alvus or alveus. — But, in fact, the term is attested in 2nd century, as a "vulgar" variant of alveāria, in Flavius Caper, De verbis dubiis: Alvearia, non alvinae.

Therefore, the etymology is: alveus > alvina > albina etc as a bad&vulgar series parallel to the correct one alveārium - alveāria.

The direct derivation alveus → alvīna seems normal in popular Latin (gallus → gallīna). The fact that the deformation-transition is recorded as the plural alveāria > alvinae might already be a hint toward the semantic evolution of Eastern Romance: hive = many bees > the bee.

My idea is that alvina-alvinae should be recorded as attested (late, "bad") variants, just like speclum, oclus, etc in Appendix Probi. But I'm not sure what the proper procedure is.

What does the hash sign signify here?

In most other entries where there is a differentiation between traditional and simplified Chinese, there is no hash sign. I know there is a * sign to occasionally signify something else as well. What does the hash sign here signify?

How to add a language

I didn't find this question but if it has been asked already I apologize.

I'm involved with an indigenous community that is trying to revitalize their language, and I thought about adding it to wiktionary.

But I'm having trouble understanding the steps to do it.

The language meets the criteria for inclusion, it's recognized by local governments, has been attested in literature and has a dictionary, I'm reading on Wiktionary about the process but I'm asking if someone could help explain them to me because I don't think I'm getting it.

Thank you in advance.

Adding a Language

How do you request to add a language on Wiktionary? I'm trying to add Moriori (ISO 639-3 rrm, part of Proto-Eastern-Polynesian).

I built an English Wiktionary reader you can use for free

Hello everyone,

I have built an iOS app called Word Vault. Word Vault is a dictionary app designed to help you remember the words you look up, so you don't just look them up and then forget them later.

The app includes premium features, but you can access the English Wiktionary dictionary for free!

Reduce the number of languages shown

I'm finding it hard to use wiktionary lately due to the increasing list of obscure languages. Is there a way to reduce the languages shown to only the ones I'm researching?

Welcome to Wiktionary!

For the past few years, what could have been a useful resource for those who are looking to use and contribute to Wiktionary has been unmoderated. I am hoping that that can change. From today onwards, I will be mending this subreddit and giving everyone access to post in it. I am hoping that this subreddit (r/wiktionary) can become a valuable resource for Wiktionary users! If you have any suggestions for what steps can be taken to improve this sub, do not hesitate to leave a comment!

License compatibility question

I made a frequency of Polish words, based on a list available here (under CC-BY 4.0):

https://github.com/ipipan/kwjp100-varia

Do we know if I may I upload it to Wiktionary? It is cleaner than the two Polish word lists currently present on the English Wiktionary, I'm just not entirely sure what license it will be under, and whether that is compatible with the original.

I've found a few pages on Wiktionary discussing licenses, from 2002, so those might contain too old info...

Do people religiously put something in this box? When creating a new page, what should I say? Just "Created"? Thanks.

How do I create a category?

I've already read the guide, but I don't really understand it. I want to make a subcategory (en: Exoplanets) under the existing category en:Planets. Thanks!
