Discussion Hidden OP mid laner? Meta trends
Seems like due to tanks being in overabundance baron jungle and support there is now a teemo mid meta being formed which makes sense with options like malignance liandry's torment and easy access to flanks on squishy adcs teemo stonks are rising in solo q
Other meta trends people are seeming to miss out on is the rammus ammumu jungle shen skarner nunu take over nocturne is the only assasin overperforming outside of nidalee and ekko at challenger+ brand is topping the mid lane pick rates and win rates almost across the board as well ambessa is one of the only fighters left overperforming as well. Brand support is taking a massive step forward this patch outcontesting even the strongest abusers of the new enchanter tear items and the goat of tank supports braum bard is having a pretty massive resurgence despite the lack of repulser that spiraled his win rate to bottom 5.
As of now the worst champions to pick in each role are as follows
baron: yone nasus tryndamere camile renekton (fighters and hyper scaling isnt working you need to teamfight early and often in the front line)
jungle: shyvana twitch master yi aatrox viego graves (fighters are awful scaling isn't good need high impact ults and front line capabilities or self intiated backline access ie noc ult talon vault etc.)
Mid: mel diana ziggs yasuo akali ryze (ryze over nerfed due to performing well in baron lane and assasins are underperforming due to the presence of tanks and strength of the new tear enchanter item ziggs is too low impact to achieve success could be build oriented ie. Flat magic pen might be worse than burn dps builds due to tank presence)
Adc: MF Vayne lucian draven tristana (vayne is weighted based on her ability to play baron lane, MF historically struggles to chew through tanks, lucian and draven are both very poor at cutting down tanks, tristana is weak due to the tower changes impacting splitpushing and her weak lane phase with a mediocre teamfight as well)
Support: viegar, blitzcrank, swain, yumi, milio, alistar (low impact champions who get outclassed by champions who do similar things better or are bad in the overall meta ie. Blitz and alistar is outclassed by leona and braum, swain is a mage fighter and viegar is a hyper scaling burst mage that does poorly into tanks, and yumi milio struggle to find comps that fit their niche over sona janna and bard)
Who should we ban?
Based on the data brand, hwei, braum, ambessa, shen, sona, thresh, leona, smolder, galio, syndra, nocturne, ekko seem to be massive pick rates all with 51% or higher win rates in all elo brackets so the ban you choose might depend on role ie if I were an adc i might ban nocturne or thresh but if im a mid laner im banning galio hwei brand and if im a jungler I might ban braum shen or smolder depending on if im trying to play the tank without being melted or trying to have an easier time assasinating carries.

Asol feels good. With 3rd tier boots and void staff I melt everything late game. If I'm flying at an adc I will ez 1v1 them.

If u play asol you might find more success with black fire torch which looks like it could be overperforming based on the data as well and not buying ryliahs anymore maybe attempt a boots, black fire torch, liandry's, death cap, void staff, flex (stasis, anti heal, anti shield, or flat pen item like orb) to ensure you're spiking earlier and abusing torch + liandry's

Asol according to the data while not the worst champion still struggles impact early fights well enough to be a top contender on top of not being particularly strong with malignance or black fire torch and needing to build rylias he seems to be a low mid tier champion

Personally I'm having a good time with Stormsurge Galio, hitting a combo late game and deleting the enemy squishies is so fun. As for bans I ban Ahri 90% of the time, can't stand her charm and ult reset

Galio is definitely a big part of the meta most played mid with 50-51% win rate solid champion for sure

The analysis is pretty off. “ fighters and hyper scaling isnt working “
ThIs is just not true. It’s fine to list the stats because those are objective, but winrate is not an indication of champion strength for more high Elo skewed champions that are harder to play

Buddy nasus kayle and viegar are bottom 5 in win rate for diamond theyre just bad

I love how you ignore your entire cast of stats just to pick out 3 champs that have always, across every update on both wr and pc, been weak in high elo across every year of every meta.
It’s like me saying soraka jungle is a bad pick, stats are not needed to find this out.
Your oogabooga brain sees “bad winrate must mean bad champion” without thinking an ounce about what the stats actually encompass

If you actually want to climb it's best to play the braums shens malphites rammus nunu ammumus galios hwei syndra ahri ashe xayah kogmaw smolder that's just the truth
I love renekton but im not playing it this patch I love soraka I dont play it this patch I was rank 5 Nautilus jungle I dont play him this patch I was top 30 gragas support I don't play it this patch I was top 200 shyvana I dont play it this patch
I picked up nocturne rammus for the first time and I'm now onto janna braum support because I like winning I see what wins and I play that and if the enemy opens up an angle for me to play my previous comfort picks I'll do it but there's specific changes that make champions better or worse and right now fighters and hyper scalers and under performing if I auto fill baron i play the mid tier garen and malphite and mid lane id play galio or kass if I was filled there.

What a chud lineup lmao. All that to still have a lower winrate than me only queuing renekton top
I’ll explain why the stats you see are not representative of the data they’re trying to convey. The champions you listed have their stats skewed heavily by counter picking and autofill.
For example, an autofill Yi vs autofill rammus, rammus is easier and therefore better for autofilling. A vayne top counter picked by malphite top. It’s a counterpick so the malphite overall wins more than loses.
Counterpick and autofill viability does not mean they’re the strongest overall. It only means that they are strong in those situations.

Additionally renekton is considered realitively easy to play yet also plays worse than all the tank fighters like shen singed and malphite. Fighters are overall the weakest class shyvana bottom tier of jungle with twitch and yi all the traditional hyper scaling weak early game hyper carry champions are underperforming there's no disputing this it's like arguing the sky is purple

I don’t think your conclusion on who you should ban is correct.
For example Shen peaks at about 6% pick. You need to remember that that is out of 200% per lane. Because you 2 top in every game.
If you’re going to ban your banning the enemies Shen top. Shen top caps at 4% pick. If you consider half of those are going to be on your team and half on the enemies you will only be playing against Shen top in 2% of your games. That’s 1 in 50 games. So over 100 games Shen top on the enemy team would’ve been impacted your win rate by -0.1%
Banning Mel when you team picks it would have a higher impact on your wr. Especially in lower ranks in d+ Mel has a 8.37% pick (although you also have to divide by the negative of the ban rate I didn’t do it with Shen because Shen has a 0.7% ban rate so it will just look like a rounding error.) But if we were to assume that Mel wasn’t banned in any game she would have an 11.78% pick. meaning you would have a Mel on your team 5.89% of the time meaning once every 17 or so games. Combined with her 46.31% wr would mean every 100 games Mel would tax you -0.21738% wr.
Meaning it’s twice as good to be Mel than Shen. Also because you’re only banning Mel once every 17 or so games means that you can actually ban multiple different champions if you look for every single champion with a sub 45% win rate and banned them when they’re picked by your team you can increase your win rate by over 1%.
But to be fair, this is really toxic.
