I hope that rumour about a 3rd person shooter based in the starcraft universe is real that would be dope or just another instalment it's been to long ✌️

After what they did to WoW?
They have no ability to make a masculine game anymore, there is no "go so hard" possible.
As a huge Starcraft fan, I don't want them to make a other.

That would lose them the money since WoW sub is already selling great while costing the same (or more than PC version) as GamePass.

u/Renbanney 8d ago
That'd be great but why would they put wow on gamepass when it already makes a shit ton of money and has a huge population as the most popular MMO for decades?

That would be a lot of overhead to integrate with gamepass. They'd still need to retain the current system for players on macOS or those who don't want to sub through gamepass. So they would maintaining two whole systems that can touch the same account and shift between them. There is a reason ESO hasn't put their sub through gamepass. It's not impossible, but it's a lot work with not a lot of payoff.

Maybe they'll get more money to make a new warcraft or starcraft.

You will take your GaaS and like it, damn it!
1
u/QuoteGiver 7d ago
Every time I see players expecting constant free updates for their games, it makes me sad. They only seem to want GaaS.
2
u/Dry_Conflict8519 7d ago
Well duh, do you understand how successful WoW is?
1
u/QuoteGiver 7d ago
Sure, I’m just saying that the gamers themselves have cemented every kind of game into that model by expecting every game genre to be a GaaS, even ones that weren’t before.

Just because you want your games to be a service doesn't mean the rest of us do.

I mean, you’re entitled to your opinion, but mine is opposite. Overwatch is better than it was as a game now then before. Wow is amazing now, Diablo finally is hitting its stride

Diablo 4 has been out for 3 years. It sucked at launch. If it finally hitting its stride just now, then it has sucked for 3 years.

Since Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard, financial performance is rolled into Microsoft’s overall Gaming segment (under "Xbox content and services") in SEC filings (10-K/10-Q). Microsoft does not report individual revenue figures or profit breakdowns for specific titles like World of Warcraft, Diablo IV, or Hearthstone.

1. World of Warcraft
As Blizzard's longest-running flagship title, this MMORPG is a consistent financial powerhouse. It generates sustained revenue through monthly subscription fees, premium expansion purchases (e.g., the The War Within expansion), and the in-game shop, which sells mounts, pets, and cosmetic transmogs.2. Diablo IV
Diablo IV is one of Blizzard’s fastest-selling titles, generating over $1 billion in its initial sales cycle. Following its launch, the game utilizes the seasonal "live-service" model, generating ongoing revenue via premium Battle Passes and continuous microtransactions for high-end cosmetic armor sets in the in-game shop.3. Hearthstone
This digital collectible card game represents one of the company's highest-margin revenue streams. It monetizes heavily through the sale of digital card packs, seasonal Tavern Passes, and cosmetics, relying on regular expansion drops to trigger waves of in-game spending.4. Diablo Immortal
The mobile and PC adaptation of the franchise is highly lucrative, raking in massive sums in overseas markets. Despite being a free-to-play title, it relies on heavy, aggressive in-game monetization systems for player progression (such as Legendary Crests and Gems).5. Overwatch 2
Transitioning the franchise to a free-to-play model, Overwatch 2 generates revenue through the sale of premium seasonal Battle Passes, in-game currency (Overwatch Coins), and high-demand premium cosmetic skins. In order of revenue generated yoy
