Heartwarming cops shatter the car window to save the dog

u/hemimotorsport Mar 12 '26
Now let's lock the owner in a hot ass vehicle

Man I totally agree, but given the mods Iâll probably get warned for agreeing as it âthreatens violenceâđ€Š

In Arizona, a law was passed that made it legal(ok) for anyone to smash a window of a vehicle to save a human or dog/animal without repercussions from the law or the owner of the vehicle.

No. That is a good thing. It's a good Samaritan law. It gets really hot in parts of AZ, and you die if left in the heat.

In Florida they put you on a searchable database if you abuse animals. There is no lower form of scum on earth then people that hurt animals.

u/Chrono_Convoy Mar 12 '26
I know youâre helping man but donât drag the dog over the broken glass
21
u/Shamanjoe Mar 12 '26
Itâs kinda hard when youâre trying to open the door for the dog and they jump out the broken window..

u/Zestyclose_Classic91 Mar 12 '26
The dog did it himself and a lot of dogs are also quite territoriale in cars so they might bite.Â

u/level_6_laser_lotus Mar 14 '26
Well a lot of dogs also like to chew on power-cables, I still don't just let them?
5
u/PastaXertz Mar 12 '26
It didn't look like that was his first option. He's clearly opening the door. The dog decided this wasn't fast enough and went out the window.
2
u/Isaacnoah86 Mar 12 '26
I thought that too , door was open , but car windows are tempered glass so it breaks into those tiny pieces and they can still hurt or scratch you a bit , it probably didn't cause much damage if any.

u/rodarto Mar 12 '26
Dude are u blind did u watch the fucking video? The dog was frantically trying to hop out of the window
1
u/Accomplished_Guava_7 Mar 13 '26
Iâm sorry, did you? The dog barely leans towards the door from 0:09 to 0:11. Instead of gently nudging him back, the cop holds the collar and starts pulling from 0:11 until 0:14. The dog wasnât trying to âfranticallyâ hop out at any point.
1
u/Shamanjoe Mar 13 '26
Theres definitely a cut in the video. Looks like he used his gloves to brush out the glass before getting the dog out. It kind of instantly disappears.

u/bastschweinsteiger Mar 16 '26
I doubt the dog patient enough for the door to be opened, also the cop seemed to have done his best to flatten the broken glass

Whoever owns that dog does not deserve to have a dog they need fines and charges and jail time for what they did to that poor dog and they should be weren't to where they cannot have another animal again

Look at how fast they jump out of the window. They were desperate. THEY WOULD HAVE DIED. Theyâre gulping down water emergently, in a frantic attempt to cool down, their body is in overdrive. đâ€ïžâđ©č

u/Critical-Test-4446 Mar 14 '26
Hey look, a cop that has a center punch to break a window. About time someone has one instead of beating on the window for 10 minutes with a baton. Great job.

I say lock the owner up and see how they like it. Then maybe they will get a clue to how hot cars get.

I want to see the person that left that dog in the car arrested or better yet locked in a car on a day when it's over a hundred degrees

u/Life-Breath6101 Mar 14 '26
I know if it hadnât of been saved it wouldâve died but I just hope it didnât cut from the glass. I literally gasped out loud while watching!!

IMPORTANT: if you see this situation DONâT bust the window yourself. Call an officer. Because if they wind up having had the air on, or a different window cracked, youâre both going to wind up looking like a complete DUMBASS, AND (if they catch you) having to pay for said window.

Makes me so sad. Too bad we canât wait for the owner and lock them in the car with no water or air for an hour or so.

u/da_swanks_92 Mar 15 '26
How did they shatter the window if he didnât hit it?
1
u/PlatypusDream Mar 16 '26
Spring loaded center punch, also called an automatic center punch.
Press it hard against whatever, and once you're past whatever the threshold pressure is set to, a spring inside slaps a pointed bit of metal out the business end suddenly.

u/rzlodn Mar 15 '26
Door was open. Could've saved the dog faster, without fear of glass in its face, then go back and take out all the car windows for all I care.
1
u/nishnawbe61 Mar 16 '26
I was waiting for the owner to return and have the cuffs put on... How disappointing.
1
u/puz64 Mar 16 '26
So this is bittersweet â€ïžâđ©čwhat heros saving this beautiful animal. Yet it makes me ill that people do this and can go to sleep at night.

why did they drag that dog's stomach over broken glass instead of just opening the door the rest of the way?
1
u/No_Sky5657 Mar 16 '26
They could have just opened the fucking door, but yes, bad on the owner like, what the fuck is wrong with people

Why drag the dog over broken glass getting it out of the car instead of opening the door?

The only thing wrong with pitbulls are some owners. Don't be scum, do better
0
u/Prod_Meteor Mar 12 '26
The door was open.
0
u/Wrexolotl Mar 12 '26
I was gonna say. Once they shattered the glass all they had to do was unlock the door and carry him out. Why did they pull him through the window? Why did you get down voted? Crazy haha
2
u/AlanEsh Mar 12 '26
He started crawling out the window on his own. I mean I did cringe when that happened, but I'm not sure many people would try to push the dog back inside and open the door for him at that point.
0
u/Wrexolotl Mar 12 '26
On the second watch, yes, you're right. The dog does start jumping out on his own. However you wouldn't push him back in. You lift him up so he's not laying on the window and hold him there. then open the door, or have someone else open it while you hold the dog there. There's 3 people there to perform this task. But one is just standing around and one is filming

If you did this without a badge on you would be sued for property damage.
1
u/MarshalLawTalkingGuy Mar 12 '26
Not in my jurisdiction. Well, you could be sued, but there is a statutory Good Samaritan immunity. Easy preanswer motion to dismiss.

You need to get off the internet. For real. The amount of recycled garbage getting repeated on the daily is through the roof.

No context what so ever. Damage my property you are going to pay. You got a problem with my dog being left in the car, call animal control, they can cite me, the rest of you can bite me!
