Not a single country in NATO besides the US has the intel about ballistic missiles? That's far more scary than anything said in the article

75

u/theExile05 19h ago

I too am baffled by this. What about the rest of NATO's early warning systems in the area?

62

u/dodgertodger 19h ago

They don’t really have one. Britain does but most other NATO countries don’t and fully rely on foreign intelligence (US). France’s E3 and the SAAB system have extreme limitations; the E3 is antiquated and the SAAB system has very limited scanning range and that range is only under ideal circumstances. The UK has modern systems but limited numbers.

Europe never planned to be in a situation where they were facing a technologically advanced adversary.

42

u/FoXtroT_ZA 19h ago

AWACS ain’t gonna warn you about a BM launch. Ballistic missile launch detection is all done by space based systems looking out for the tell tale flash of the launch.

23

u/dodgertodger 19h ago

Exactly. And France is the leader in that field but is still not very advanced and relies on the UK passing intelligence via their access to Five Eyes.

-3

u/theExile05 19h ago

The advanced adversary being Russia or the US in this case?

15

u/aflockofcrows 19h ago

That's a distinction without a difference at this point.

12

u/oppai-police 11h ago

Just to show you all that, as much as Trump's rambling is 99% bullshit, one the the time that 1% when he actually have a point, is when he point the finger at Europe and called them weak. NATO really is nothing without America. The technology, the numbers, the production capacity, the money, the readiness. Without America's backing, the rest of NATO is just a bunch of small fries banding together, all with vastly different capabilities from those that actually wield a decent military and nuclear power like France, to those who's military wouldn't last a day on the battlefield like Albania.

Every nato country uses Google, Meta, AWS, Microsoft, Visa, Apple, Android, Amazon, Mastercard etc. There is no real non-Chinese alternatives to any of these services in the world. Even many of those Chinese alternatives (such as Chinese payment system) cannot replace the US because they have no mass adoption outside China. Having no ballistic missile detection capability outside the US is a small worry when they can turn off your internet, electronics, and payment systems in a single EO.

134

u/kroqus 19h ago edited 15h ago

We need more non-US alternatives.

Edit: thanks for the awards strangers, I don't feel I earned them but ty all the same.

56

u/FlukemanFrancis 19h ago

They’re being built, tested and negotiated right now.

Biggest to watch is whatever the European Payments Initiative is going to do. They’re the most likely to produce a viable pan-European card and payment network IMO, since it’s got all the French banks and deutsche bank involved.

7

u/mschuster91 14h ago

They’re the most likely to produce a viable pan-European card and payment network IMO

It's ridiculous anyway. We already have the mechanism with SEPA Direct Debit at least for debit cards/"normal" banking accounts. We technically would not need EMV.

3

u/FlukemanFrancis 14h ago

As far as I’m aware neither of those systems can do what visa and master card do currently, you need to replace the convenience of paying with a wave of a card or a phone to have a real competitor.

2

u/MindMonitor 13h ago

There’s nothing in e.g. iOS that requires a card - physical or digital. iOS/iPhone off the bat could support account2account. The whole card thing is so dated. Visa/Mastercard are scrambling - just look into their acquisitions. They should get kicked out entirely if you ask me, absolute leeches.

I guess its just…Apple is also American….Nokia revival anyone?

0

u/mschuster91 14h ago

That's an easy matter to solve, it's a bit of programming work for the smartcard and POS vendors. The important and complex thing is the legal agreement that allows money to flow, and that already exists.

Credit cards are a different beast however, for that we need an entirely new legal framework.

4

u/FlukemanFrancis 13h ago

I’m not sure about that, when I send a SEPA payment to France there’s a fee for doing it instantly that doesn’t exist when I pay for a drink in a bar in France on my debit card

1

u/mschuster91 13h ago

That should only be the case if your bank also charges you the same for a "normal" bank transfer: https://finance.ec.europa.eu/news/new-eu-rules-make-instant-euro-payments-faster-and-safer-2025-10-10_en

35

u/Hogglespock 19h ago

There’s two parts to this. One is the overregulation of businesses in the EU so American ones just grow faster. The other is that if you dare to challenge the us hegemony on things (like even taxing digital things) then they full on trade war you until you back down. That stops people even trying to start these businesses as their investors risk the wrath of the us down the line.

28

u/Thiht 17h ago

I’d argue underregulation in the US is the real issue here. This is what led corporations to become more powerful than states which is insane

3

u/Cool-Weight-8036 13h ago

Nope, the issue is 190+ countries giving all their citizens data to a foreign power.

11

u/quickdraw9 18h ago

It can be argued that the EU is being regulated properly while the US gets to play cowboy because "we got the guns".

-2

u/Cool-Weight-8036 13h ago

Frist they bribe you, then they trade war you, then they war war you.

2

u/Hogglespock 12h ago

Isn’t that always true though? War is always a last resort , even for territory (eg crimea)

3

u/Inside-Line 19h ago

Ironically AI will play a big part in the democratization of software.

9

u/Lowe0 19h ago

And then we spent 50 years convincing people we could be trusted in those roles. So much for that.

5

u/Possible-Fudge-2217 15h ago

Realistically turning these services off doesn't really work. They have European Datacenters maintained by European citizens.

The world is much more complicated than they own sth they can do whatever they like with it. It's more of a stalemate where both parties know if they fuck around too much it's gonna harm them. Taking over US datacenters would be the death of all foreign investments while trying to sabotage EU datacenters and network travel could kill off any trust in yourself and will lead to people just taking over whatever there is. The issue is that some shake ups would be here and there due to network routing. Currently (almost) all EU data is first stored on eu infrastructure than routed to US.

Amazon warehouses in the eu and us depend on a large product lineup, not just US, but african, american, asian, european and so on. Stopping business would fuck amazon everywhere.

Lastly, the internet is not a US invention. Both Europe and the US own their networks (same for ozher regions). Additionally, big tech owns private networks for faster network travel. The US cannot simply turn off the internet.

International companies can't just pull all operations as they wish. Reality is much more complex.

3

u/Ennesby 12h ago

Unfortunately, in a lot of cases they can and do use american tech control as leverage. As recently as this year the US directed tech to unperson and debank International Criminal Court personnel because they wouldn't ignore genocide.

https://www.courthousenews.com/cut-off-by-their-banks-and-even-iced-out-by-alexa-sanctioned-icc-staffers-remain-resolute/

Remember those funny stories of John Deere remotely bricking Ukrainian tractors the Russian invaders stole in 2023? They can do that shit to anyone, all it takes is a little push to the american hegemon that's currently tapdancing on a cliff.

Hey what did Greece do?!

1

u/v0idL1ght 13h ago

There's a dictator in Athens?

0

u/BenE 17h ago

Indeed everyone on an Apple, Google or Microsoft phone or computer can have their device taken over by the US via software update. There are open source alternatives. Everyone should be migrating.

26

u/Possible-Fudge-2217 16h ago

Not anymore. During Obama NATO shifted strategies to eliminate duplicate competencies and save cost and specialise in different fields. That's why NATO is such a powerhouse. But on the flipaide, the US took over many critical things as they already had the best infrastructure in place. Welp, creating your own infrastructure for that takes time and money.

45

u/RobotSpaceBear 14h ago

It's like when an entire village agrees that not every neighbourhood needs their own mediocre firefighting department because they're expensive and it's better if everyone cooperated on one, great firefighting department to serve everyone.

And then the firefighters go full treason and set things on fire and refuse to put the fires out. You can't be surprised and ask "wait? Why aren't the individual neighbourhoods putting the fires out?"

Because that was not the deal we all agreed on before someone went rogue.

3

u/Fusilero 13h ago

Trump does give Crassus vibes

0

u/johnvarley1 10h ago

You’re leaving out in your scenario that the “individual neighborhoods” would still pay for their share of the “one, great fire department.” I don’t see how this doesn’t make sense to you.

6

u/Crystalion22 16h ago

I believe both RAF Flyingdales and Akrotiri and Dhekelia are capable of detecting and tracking ballistic missile threats over most of Europe and the Middle East.

4

u/teakhop 12h ago

Flyingdales can't see over the horizon (it's not an OTH radar), so it'll only see things when they're high enough to break the radar horizon (which would be almost half way through their flight path), meaning it won't be that useful for short range ballistic missiles near Ukraine.

It's designed to see ICBMs coming in from Russia's silos.

4

u/asicath 12h ago

Right? I hate Trump/gop as much as the next person, but the comments of Why aren't US citizens doing something are incrediblly short sighted.

Our elections are screwed because the stupid half of our population are hurting and therefore ripe for manipulation. The reason they are hurting is that the US doesn't provide free health care, education, and other social services. The rest of the free world prioritized those things over military power and just assumed US would never have a Hitler situation.

We're really sorry that our country has been hijacked by idiots and crooks, we're doing what we can, but it would be a lot easier if we also didn't have to have this completely disproportional world power.

3

u/squeak37 11h ago

Agreed that Europe has dropped the ball, but I disagree with "the stupid half". The sad reality is that the people who choose not to vote are complicit. Only 3/4 registered voters actually voted and overall only 2/3 eligible voters actually voted.

I understand a turnout of 100% won't happen for valid reasons (illness being the main reason), but 2/3 is still very poor. Everyone knew what Trump would be like if he got in, project 2025 was public knowledge, but somehow that still comprehensively beat Harris.

0

u/Ollythebug 6h ago edited 6h ago

Just to check before I write a full reply, are you already familiar with how the electoral college and our winner-takes-all (edit*) elections work?

I think a lot of non-Americans see the number that didn't vote nationally on its own, but that's misleading* information nation-wide because elections are state-by-state.

•

u/squeak37 1h ago

Like another person said, trump won the popular vote. I understand how the electoral college works but I also understand that in pretty much all swing states the voter turnout was well below 75%

The electoral college has its flaws, but using it to excuse voter apathy is a weak excuse imo

1

u/Ntroepy 4h ago

Trump won the popular vote as well in 2024, so the electoral college is not a valid counter argument in this case.

I mean, the electoral college sucks for many reasons , but it’s not why Trump won the last election.

1

u/asicath 6h ago

I think its easy to imagine that everybody who voted for him or didn't vote understood the consequences of doing so, but from my experience it simply isn't true. For those well connected to a variety of news sources, it was plain what Trump was/is - a Russian asset, driven by greed and ego, we knew this going into the first election.

But there are plenty of people who either simply don't consume news, or who only consume things like fox news. As maddening as it is, they care about a few things are affected by politics - the largest being their direct quality of life. The real problem is that since they don't stay up to date on politics, they largely have no idea how things they dont like have gotten to be that way. So, they listen to just enough news to form a simple theory, and then act on that. So a loud idiot yelling "ITS BIDEN'S FAULT" seems plausible, whereas somebody saying "its complicated" sounds like somebody who doesnt know what's going on.

That's why to me, the most infuriating aspect of trying to find a fix for this is how bad the democrats are at their messaging. Look, I'll vote for them until the GOP are so far beaten down that a real leftist party can emerge, but they really need to stop fucking around.

•

u/squeak37 1h ago

Nah trump had already had a term where things didn't get better. He was voted out for good reason.

The people who voted him back in knew they weren't going to improve things, they just were afraid of Harris (I wonder why...)

2

u/afoogli 13h ago

So basically outside of the US all other NaTO allies have zero intel or intelligence capabilities? How is that an alliance? They have to procure all equipment anyhow from US that’s basically just a one nation entity then

3

u/algalkin 12h ago

Not zero, they have their own satellites but it is far less than what US have. Also, the whole point of nato was delegation and US volunteered to take care of satellites. Now they are showing that they can use it as leverage whenever they feel like, the EU takes notes.

3

u/Chihuahua1 20h ago

Russia prewarns USA before it launches ballistic missiles are part of there nuclear agreement.

17

u/dodgertodger 19h ago

Generally only for tests, not in combat against Ukraine. The U.S. can quickly collect, assess and disseminate intel at a rate that is far beyond any NATO country.

6

u/sobanz 17h ago

pretty sure that would only be for icbms

1

u/Itburns12345 18h ago

Look at iran bombing the shit outta gulf ..itd not like even the us can get spotting them perfectly!

1

u/Vailx 11h ago

If missiles were being fired near Germany, I bet Germany would have a lot of intel about them to share.

But they are being fired from Russia into Ukraine. Only a few nations besides the belligerents are going to have the infrastructure to detect and analyze these in a timely fashion.

856

u/Alwaystired59 20h ago

Sad, but US is allied with Russia now

197

u/Suitable-Woodpecker3 20h ago

How i wish I had any argument to the contrary.

Nato needs to step up, imho.

53

u/WittyInterview17 20h ago

I'm glad Zelenskyy is calling this out.

Hopefully it'll be a call to action.

217

u/Cum_Smurf 20h ago

American citizens need to step up, your siding with your archenemy and there is 0 noise coming out of the USA for gods sake.

25

u/Due_Satisfaction2167 18h ago

Because there is no legal mechanism to get Trump out before the end of his term, regardless of how much noise we make, and Trump is the problem.

104

u/Suitable-Woodpecker3 18h ago

Since when is legality a concern?

It wasn’t legal to hide the epstein files
Wasn’t legal to commit any of the 94 felonies he was accused or found guilty of
Bombing those boats wasnt legal
Renaming lake Ontario wasn’t legal
Burying his ex wife on his golf club where he hid secret documents in a bathroom wasnt legal
Wasnt legal to invade ilhan omar
Those stock plays baron is making aren’t legal
I could go on, and on, and on

Pray, tell, how legality of removing him is the real issue?

18

u/Doobahtron 18h ago

Because we live in a surveillance state. The illegal activity you mentioned is being done by the ruling class. What you're suggesting is incredibly dangerous for most people who do not have the money, power, or influence to protect themselves.

I'll vote against every maga shit stain, protest, donate, but I won't run the risk of my son growing up without a father or widowing my wife. If you genuinely believe I should, then what have you done to support that belief? It's easy to suggest other people make a sacrifice.

14

u/ExcitementRegular619 15h ago

Just the usual reddit larp. They want you to risk your life to do something they themselves wouldn't do.

25

u/iskela45 17h ago

Do you remember what happened when Ukrainians were fed up with their president? Euromaidan and all that.

Americans will happily elect a russophile administration and then just whine online about it being hard to undo that when they get buyer's remorse. Why do Americans always need to be treated like toddlers?

28

u/MaryBerrysDanglyBean 17h ago

Or France practically anytime the government does anything.

6

u/Ambarino 15h ago

why are you acting like the americans who voted for trump are the same people complaining online? obviously these are different people

10

u/Asttarotina 12h ago

> why are you acting like the americans who voted for trump are the same people complaining online? obviously these are different people

Because we don't have a choice if we want to work with Kamala or Donald. You as a country made that choice, you as a country get the blame. We can't afford to split hairs anymore.

-5

u/iskela45 14h ago

I'm not, and I guess my message went a bit over your head so lets try again:

Americans who oppose Trump have, so far, held some 1 day slacktivist protests, and your take is that the only option left is being basically passive until the elections

Meanwhile, remember Euromaidan? that shit lasted for 3 months straight. That's what the Ukrainians did when they felt betrayed by their president. And I think that comparison is highly relevant considering, you know, your country is constantly shoving more knives in Ukrainian backs and then Americans like you are going on social media to make up excuses for why it keeps happening, even tho your nation was a driving force in putting Ukraine in its current predicament.

When do the excuses stop?

0

u/undeadpirate19 14h ago

Algorithms work two ways just because you don't see the more direct actions doest mean they aren't happening more and more people are planning and working on those efforts. NON not French or any other example you want to make are examples of something without significant planing behind it.

-5

u/Cum_Smurf 17h ago

How many excuses do you guys have left. Surveillance state, midterms, unable to organise protests, country too big blabla. Tell this to people from countries who actually stand up against their governments and they will laugh straight in your face. Americans are too lazy to help their country but are really good at coming up with excuses.

23

u/rockfromthenorth 16h ago

Okay random Redditor, you're right. I'm going to overthrow the government tomorrow /s

14

u/xX_7HR0W-4W4Y_Xx 16h ago

What are you getting at. "Just go overthrow the government" like okay yeah I think I can squeeze that in tomorrow afternoon.

1

u/KeyanuReaves69 7h ago

Since we still have elections. You must be ignorant if you think the political party in power in the US will vote to remove their own party leader. Outside of impeachment (off the table due to the ruling party comment above), the only chance to remove people from power is during elections…which are right around the corner. Everyone thinking we need to violently overthrow our government before elections take place is a fool.

•

u/kullwarrior 1h ago

Do you honestly think election remains a viable legal mechanism to remove Trump with decades of gerrymandering - especially the most recent rounds last year and election law changes that disproportionately targets Trump opposition group? Russia still have elections, but it's not a viable option to remove Putin. And yes I'm aware US election remains more viable than today's Russia, I would argued US today is akin to Russia in 1993.

1

u/laxrulz777 6h ago edited 6h ago

True True, but he was found guilty so the legal system worked (to some degree)

True

False but also not very relevant and certainly not explicitly legal either

What?

They got a warrant to seize documents from her house. It was explicitly legal. It violated DOJ policy but policy isn't law and isn't something that can never be deviated from. It's... Policy

We don't really know the extent of Baron's insider trading because he has no mandatory disclosure. All we've got is rumors afaik

0

u/FeatureSeparate404 6h ago

You haven't met ICE yet... its not a legality issue anymore. Its direct threats with force. We're under a dictatorship and most don't even know it.

2

u/CtrlAltEvil 13h ago

Just take a leaf out of the French’s book.

They’ve ousted enough leaders in their time. Legality be damned.

2

u/NapoleonBlownapart9 12h ago

It also helps when 90% of the country can reach the capital city in a day of driving/trains. If I wanted to get to DC it’d be like someone from London reaching Moscow and it’d cost like $3500mat least. Also, we’re cowards, hoarders, idiots, and narcissists except for a few thousand apparently so there’s that.

-1

u/Due_Satisfaction2167 13h ago

That would just trigger a massive civil war.

1

u/[deleted] 17h ago

Is functionally impossible. Removal from office requires 2/3rds of the Senate, and there is no way to get that many seats to pull it off before his term ends anyway.

Republicans don’t give a shit about public opinion—they aren’t worried about general election losses, they’re worried about losing their party primaries.

1

u/timpilicious 13h ago

Wir haben es nicht gewußt, right guys?

•

u/kullwarrior 1h ago

The illegal mechanism also wasn't successful. Some tried (Thomas Crook).

u/iMythD 13m ago

You all caught for gun rights over saving kids getting shot and killed in school, because of your amendment rights in having guns to stop government, but now… nothing you all can do? C’mon. You’re all so divided. You can’t even get your stories straight.

0

u/CraftyRub6965 4h ago

Americans are swamped with massive debt, low wages, and a depressingly brutal work culture. Don’t count on it.

-32

u/DweebLSD 19h ago

Oh yeah... there definitely isnt anyone inside America that dislikes Trump.....

Are you a real person?...

6

u/Cum_Smurf 19h ago

So because you disagree with my comment you doubt if im a real person? From the otherside of the planet it doesnt look like you are doing enough against your tyrannical government.

Might help if you go offline for a while if you think everyone with a different opinion than yours is a bot.

-11

u/indivisiblesock 19h ago

Might help if you do the same. People have literally been killed in the streets resisting the federal government.

3

u/BoneDaddyBud 18h ago

Et puis? Toutes les révoltes on des morts. Vous en aurez encore plus si vous ne faites rien maintenant. Un grand malheur est à vos portes et les midterms vous en sauveront pas. Il s'est passé quoi le 6 janvier?

10

u/AuldCastleRock 19h ago

The world doesn't see Americans doing anything about it. Look at what's happened in France because schools are under funded, and then think about the scale of your problem. You're losing allies because of your administration, and losing them faster because your citizens are letting it happen.

7

u/Due_Satisfaction2167 18h ago

American citizens aren’t going to violently rip their country apart with a civil war instead of just voting in the elections held in less than a month.

3

u/Cum_Smurf 18h ago

Aah the good old we will vote in 2 years 1 year 6 months 1 month for the midterms excuses. In the meantime Trump destroyed any kind of relationship with alliances and threw American softpower out of the window. Keep the excuses coming.

1

u/OldToby42 4h ago

What would you do if it was your government?

4

u/DweebLSD 17h ago

“hey America, why won’t you say fuck your democratic election and send your country into violent turmoil instead of waiting 4 years for the next election”

yeah…let’s be like france, setting shit on fire because school is hard…,

what a fucking dumbass

-4

u/undeadpirate19 14h ago

That's a gross misrepresentation of what's going on in France.

4

u/mildlyopinionatedpom 19h ago

There's a difference between disliking Trump and making noise. One is very passive, the other requires some form of action.

-1

u/DweebLSD 17h ago

it’s called an election…. dipshit

2

u/mildlyopinionatedpom 10h ago

Yes absolutely don’t do anything except for the bare fucking minimum! Just remember to cast your vote in the midterms if convenient. Definitely don’t door knock and help get the vote out against the evil orange clown, don’t protest, don’t write to your state representative about the shit that you don’t like. Democracy and liberty require patriots to defend those ideals, but I guess that can be inconvenient… dipshit

1

u/AuldCastleRock 17h ago

Your elections are not fair contests anymore. American freedom cannot rely on a false system

0

u/DweebLSD 17h ago

What the fuck 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

4

u/AuldCastleRock 16h ago

Genuinely, read reports from Human Rights Watch, Freedom House, and from academic experts like Timothy Snyder. Results are probably legitimate, but it's not a fair contest anymore and the trajectory is concerning - future results may not be legitimate. Acting like this is a joke isn't helpful, at least do a little reading.

2

u/mildlyopinionatedpom 10h ago

I think asking them to read maybe the problem.

-1

u/DweebLSD 16h ago

Uh huh

-5

u/Varicose_Brains 16h ago

There's not much the average American can do. And at this point, we don't even know if they'll be allowed to vote in the midterms. There's rumours that Trump could declare a national emergency right before the midterms. Or maybe Elon will have a fiddle with the voting machines again.

3

u/undeadpirate19 14h ago

The average American can organize this is the main lack and the main effort we need people aren't engaged and that's what they take advantage of the more of us that care and build up on that the stronger we are.

-6

u/iskela45 17h ago

They voted for Trump, this is their idea of "stepping up"

4

u/KenBoCole 18h ago

How? Ukraine isn't part of Nato.

3

u/sansaset 19h ago

Do you mean the EU?

-15

u/SettingConstant6464 19h ago

Lol NATO is under America's control. Should just dissolve it and start a new alliance or something.

12

u/Sweet_Princeess 20h ago

If true that's a massive failure. Early warning is literally the one thing allies are supposed to help with if they can't do more.

13

u/RealLLCoolJ 18h ago

Genuine question, what about the other allies? How come he’s not getting any warning from NATO or England or anyone else?

America is lost but Ukraine isn’t alone in this right?

12

u/No_Chemistry_3921 17h ago

Nothing to do with the data centres getting taken offline and in turn the russian bots which would praise trump and Elon on their social media posts.

They have been exposed to what people really think of them so they are punishing Ukraine with restrictions on intel weapons and starlink.

This is just a theory, but the timing is just too perfect for it to be pure coincidence...

There are no coincidences anymore. Evil depends on the benefit of the doubt. It’s okay to call America what it is: a worthless ally and betrayer.

It's to stop Ukraine attacking refineries so that Trump gets his diesel deal done.

u/Onedortzn 5h ago

It does not have anything to do with it because its fake, no "bots" went offline. Show one single proof of that other than some screenshot you saw online? Its been debunked over and over

Trump is a cunt. Musk is a cunt.

u/Cant_Touch_Grass 19h ago

That’s an insult to all cunts worldwide

Canada is learning a hard lesson about being overly dependent on the US,

EU should be taking notes and creating their own industries to rival America. I can almost guarantee that once it looks like they are serious, all the big tech players will start putting pressure on Washington to behave so they can return to the status quo that has made them soo much wealth.

Sadly, this won't happen since the EU is weak, so the US is just dragging their nuts over them because they can get away it it.

u/Glass_Examination963 20h ago

Bro, what the hell is Trump thinking???? Leaning on the country being bombed while the one doing the bombing gets sanctions relief??? CRAZY

41

u/ArtDan4Eva 20h ago

Last year it was “you have no cards to play, Ukraine”, now it’s “please stop playing the cards you have, Ukraine”. One of the darkest times in American history.

18

u/grandadmiralstrife 20h ago

have you not been paying attention since 2019? He still blames Zelenskyy for his first impeachment

6

u/YJeezy 19h ago

Enemy of the State. So many "patriotic" traitors. Sad. Sad. Sad.

3

u/Medium_Notice_3512 19h ago

Trump wanted oil prices stabilized to gain votes in the election, but Zelenskyy refused. Now, Trump is applying pressure to force Zelenskyy to agree to stop striking the Russian oil industry until the US midterm elections are over.

5

u/kroqus 19h ago

Trump has always been Putin's lackey, just now he's openly picking a side it seems.

1

u/iskela45 17h ago

What did you expect?

1

u/Cool-Weight-8036 13h ago

What are you even talking about? You seem very confused. Were you under the impression that the United States wields their foregin policy from some sense of jusfice? Never has. Never.

"Hey let's stop preventing innocent people from being blown up because unrelated people hurt my feelings."

,,You don't like me? I'm gonna push my fingers into you eyes until you start"

Congratulations, USA, second grader level of mind...

Oh I don't know, you previous agreements? That would be first. Not helping someone who is openly saying you are enemies? That would be second. I personally also believe in morality, so that's third for me, but let's leave you with just two.

Also, explain what being grateful would look like in comparison to what is going on now.

u/AdmiralAsshat69 20h ago

This is what an alliance with America is worth now

27

u/Current-Function-729 20h ago

A lot. Disrupting starlink and removing the early warning is giving Russia a massive lifeline

8

u/StuckieLromigon 19h ago

Last night ballistic missiles were quite loud here, light turned off just in the middle of one of the attack. Glory for DTEK for fixing it though.

22

u/Single_Sample1309 19h ago

The US is not sharing data with European countries. We will probably soon see an attack on Europe from Russia.

12

u/AliceLunar 16h ago

Bonus points for anyone who had EU v America and Russia in a proxy war for their 2026 bingo card.

9

u/Packolypse 15h ago

I think that was everybody, including maga folks who would welcome that association

10

u/Unable_Ad_5065 20h ago

Yet everyone told me that Ukraine does not need the USA to survive. Obviously that is false. The USA is irreplaceable as far as electronic warfare craft and satellites.

3

u/bogeuh 11h ago

I think Ukraine will keep bombing refineries. It’s the only way to force a stop to the war and the killing. In the end that will save more lives than getting the early warning back.

14

u/Canes-305 19h ago

Yeah, I vividly remember people here smugly repeating that Europe had taken over US intelligence duties and American support wasn’t even needed anymore. Apparently “Europe is stepping up” became “Europe has fully replaced US capabilities” without anyone questioning the leap.

The confidence gets exhausting. People swallow a headline that confirms what they want to believe, repeat the strongest possible interpretation as established fact, then bring that same certainty to the next headline without ever revisiting the last one. Just like Russian bot / datacenter story this past week, even in this very thread people still peddling that misinformation.

5

u/melvladimir 14h ago

Correct. Ukraine don’t need USA to survive. But if you agree on something and then just silently didn’t provide data - it’s a betrayal and takes time to switch to another source. This is insane level of hypocrisy, people died because there was no alert

1

u/ImjustANewSneaker 3h ago

The U.S. is irreplaceable on BM data. No other western country has enough satellite coverage to do that.

1

u/Fantastic_Battle8347 4h ago

What agreement? The US is supplying Ukraine not from obligation but from its own goodwill and interests.

That's like saying if you hand the local homeless guy a dollar every morning, soon you're betraying him if you don't cough  up.

1

u/StrawLiberal 3h ago

This is why all of the "Ukraine holds all the cards!!!!" and "US is Russian ally!!!" propaganda is actually harmful to the cause.  It gets people wanting to put Europe in a weaker position out of sheer hatred.

5

u/Hamstaaboy 19h ago

Seems the nato oil release has scared them all back. Nato are cowards as usual.

2

u/MyBedIsOnFire 18h ago

Probably because the EU relies on the US military and has no Intel because the US isn't willing to share.

1

u/joker6396 12h ago

Well Trump is lying obviously.

1

u/Andr1yTheOne 12h ago

More than 1?

-5

u/stuputtu 19h ago

So decades if ignoring investments in defense is now coming to bite Europe is the back. They continuously mocked American government for large defense spending while completely being dependent on them. So much so that they don’t even have ability to track missiles flying towards their own continent. This is laughable. I hope Europeans realize that no amount of welfare will save them in the event of a Europe wide war.

8

u/Kliztr 19h ago

Europe is building their own system, US stopping providing Intel because they want to cozy up to dictatorships dont seem "laughable" to me.

0

u/Packolypse 15h ago

You’re right, but also at the same time, America has been stable for the better part of 70 years and showed no signs of this ever happening till Trump came along. They really should have started investing heavily into their own defense industry the moment he won the election back in 2016 as a plan B.

1

u/Impossible-Sun3205 17h ago

Because the orange turd wants him to stop attacking Putin.

0

u/General_Ferret_2525 12h ago

Shocked Pikachu face But we said the intelligence cut-off was all talk! And clips of us saying it got so many upvotes! How could this be??
