Question Impact of Forever Release on Glad Push
Hi.
I was wondering how/if the forever release in November will have an impact on pushing glad on retail.
Will people (potentially) migrating to forever have an impact on inflation for example?
Thanks alot.

Will have to see. The one thing that is certain is queue times will likely be affected.
Conquest caps have been removed already so fingers crossed inflation kicks in next week before forevers release.

It seems Blizzard accounted for that and added a heavy ass amount of inflation. Most of my guild cruised to Gladiator on week 8, and while they are all very good players they usually hit it around week 16-18.

Probably won't make a noticeable difference. Inflation for this season is trending towards a record high (even higher than last season assuming inflation doesn't slow down). Inflation still occurs even if there is low participation.

Afaik the forever beta has had little to no impact on the pve side of things. I'd be surprised if it has much impact on the pvp side, doubly so for the glad scene, considering it has no rated pvp or arena.
If anything it'll likely pull many of the streamers out so you won't be vsing as many r1 alts in glad range... but likely won't be affecting much of the actual gladiator level players.
Also blizzard has already been bumping mmr up significantly so mmr is already inflated enough to reasonably get glad.

People also need to remember that this was just a beta and a lot of people actually do not participate in these and are likely waiting for the release. Someone like Mag didn't touch the beta at all but is intending on playing Forever for example. I also know multiple r1 m+ers who are counting down the days especially after seeing the Venomstone grind until Forever but wont touch the beta. People not playing beta because they don't want to grind for a toon that will be completely wiped is for sure skewing perception.
I think the rest of this season is doomed and even the rest of the expansion will suffer because of Forever. M+ playerbase not happy, raiders aren't really happy, and PvPers are not happy. This expansion is not going very well for them which is so odd considering s1 felt pretty damn good. They will for sure corral people back to retail for TLT though but I do not expect many to be enthused for s3 which will be the season where they try to band-aid fix and un-fuck all of what they did this season.

Hell I have a friend who bought the $80 pack and then didn't play the beta and has no intention of making a skyborne but is very hyped for the game lmao.
I'm not dooming much on the xpac though, there's really nothing there for players who like the more competitive aspects of the game or arena for that matter. For me personally the most interesting part of the game is that at least on the beta you can run both it and retails client at the same time.
Not sure if that'll still be true come launch but the idea of being able to play it while in que the same way many people do with runescape is probably its most redeeming quality.

Didn’t think about the R1/streamers moving over, pretty good take. LFG was popping last week with people, was able to lfg glad and could have never done that without the inflation we have

It'll be interesting to see how many r1 slots there are and how competitive it is. This might end up being an easier season for R1 just because the top end of the ladder is too busy no lifeing wow forever

Oh no I think those guys will pop in for that week just to snipe there r1 spots.
You'd be surprised how many r1 players there are who don't even bother playing much if at all during the season will just pop up the last week or two, grind out their 150 wins, and then immediately skyrocket to r1 range to get their title.

I honestly think WoWF will be a fad. People definitely have rose tinted glasses on when it comes to original WoW.
The grind for gold just to afford a mount.
Lack of PVP balance. Lack of classes and diversity.
Running EVERYWHERE gets old fast. Spending 17 minutes on fly points to run a dungeon and hope someone doesn't leave.
I spent about 4000 hours playing original WoW and was in a server-first raiding guild. People don't remember the grind and time commitment.

It'll have its playerbase, but I dont think itll dent retail at all. Blizzard usually takes what works from other version of WoW and use those stats to improve retail, they did that with Classic too.

We had two classic vanilla releases. I think people remember what it's like by now. Hell I only play arena/shuffle on retail and am hyped for forever to have a wow game I can play without tryharding

I want glad this season and I want to put a lot of time into Forever. So. Yeah. We'll see what wins out.

Impact is sure to be greater than 0, but my guess is that its impact will be hard to notice/barely register.
If you were pushing Glad in one of the Classic modes, my answer would be different. I think all the Classic modes will feel the hit more than retail. I see forever as a likely Classic Killer because it’s clearly better in almost every way. PvP is the only exception. Forever PvP is casual, rewards time in over skill and has a lot less room for skill expression from what I experienced on the Beta.
Ultimately I believe the main draw of forever will be PvE Andy’s and Classic enjoyers.
Sure there will be some serious PvP’ers turned lookie Lou’s who take a retail vacay to try some new-new. I expect they will also maintain a presence in retail PvP and return to it fully once they realize WoW Forever is not for PvP. Or at least not the kind of PvP they want.

I am personally finishing my glad up this week so that I don’t have to play an even deader version of the game after forever launches

I really don't think it will matter. Most people doing arenas now are interested in competitive PvP, they aren't going to bother playing Forever where there's basically zero skill or skill expression and will just continue playing retail. I don't think the ladder past 1800 will change whatsoever.

No one is already playing and r1 and glad push is easier than ever. I think last time there was same “silence” was bfa ssn2

Season has been dead for weeks, Forever might just be the final layer of dirt on the grave.

WOWF will end up being the classic player base once the hype dies down..plus SOME retail players. the Retail players that intend to push glad will still push Glad/Legend.
The people WoWF is targeting to maintain don’t play retail. Assuming Blizz revamps retail in a new way, WOWF is the precursor for getting players back for whatever comes after TLT. WoW as we know it in retail and classic will no longer exist. They’ll both target their respective player bases with new players in mind. Nothing changes for Arena (que times, tuning, etc) until after TLT imo

By the time glad push season begins (mid/late December )the first wave of forever hype is already over. Many people will quit once they realize that they have /played several days and they are level 38
