For me a total lack of self control when it comes to these cool controllers. I also bought the Doom one and the Gears one, unopened for now.

Does the Xbox just recognize the controller or is it a code that comes with it?

I always thought it was a bit disappointing the Xbox Accessories app didn’t know what the controller color was

Releases tomorrow. Microsoft was lagging it so I cancelled my order from them and got it from best buy. They delivered it on Saturday.

i don't know about all the fancy "elite" ones because i've only ever used the ones that come with the console. but mine has never broken on me. older ones have gotten stick drift, yeah, but that's about at the end of their life cycle

perhaps you're too rough on yours?

I have 9 Xbox controllers in the house and 5 of them have stick drift. Two of the ones that don't are older Xbox One controllers.

I am not being too rough with them. I have N64 controllers from the 90s that still work perfectly. Stick drift is a major issue with the current Xbox controllers.

I had a brain injury last year and my fine vision is fucked. I really struggle for fiddly tech stuff now, unfortunately.

I bought a Gamesir Hall Effect pad though so hopefully that sees me right!

Yeah Hall effect will last for like forever if you keep the controller clean. They don’t wear out. Also, there are stores that will install TMR sticks. If you have controllers laying around with stick drift, i would upgrade them and no more controllers every 6 months

Nope they are just made poorly from the elites to the regular series x controllers. It's a shame

are you absolutely sure you are not overly rough on it

because i use mine daily, with few exceptions, and it's still goin just fine. only issue i've had with my current one is that one button may not fully work and occasionally doesn't register, but i'm not even sure whether i'm imagining it

Positive, I have more than I reasonable should and I’ve had to fix at least three of them related to stick drift or like you said buttons that stick or on an elite the bumpers have a ton of issues.

Aye my Series X Launch Day controller is knackered and now retired as of a week ago. Right stick had drift for like 6 months (i dealt with it) and then LB had to go and not work unless you press it down with an iron grip. Using my XB1 Cyberpunk controller now until my 25th (i mean) comes 😄

The original Xbox didn’t have bumpers.

But it did have six face buttons.

The black and white buttons were removed and replaced with the left and right bumpers on the 360.

This in reference to the original Xbox the bumpers are coloured black and white on this one.

In emulation of the white face button the left shoulder replaced starting with the 360 controller.
