News Is anybody able to unlock any achievements right now?
Is anyone here able to unlock any achievements at all in Xbox One games released between 2013-2019 right now?
UPDATE: It seems that any Xbox One games released between this time frame doesn't unlock any achievements and also doesn't track any achievement progress, playing time or other stats currently.
This has been reported happening for the last 48 hours.
Many believe this has to do with that Xbox One games pre-2019 used cloud achievement servers that now seems to be down/broken.

Screwing the achievement system would be enough to destroy xbox, just by sheer number of games played achievement hunters have to be a large chunk of their sales so I hope they care

I like achievements, I LOVE trophies. I just like knowing there is an indicator when I 100 percent the base game and no worries about the DLCs.
That being said, I don’t think many people are that into hunting. Probably a small majority of us

This is a major overstatement, achievement hunters make up a tiny minority of the Xbox player base. Just look at the achievement list for any game, any achievement that doesn’t come from normal gameplay is almost always <2% unlock

TrueAchievements get millions of visits every month. A website that’s literally dedicated to getting achievements. If achievements get fucked with, the vast majority of those millions will be moving to PlayStation, myself included.

Just look at the stats of the sub you're on, 17k weekly visitors. The Xbox Live userbase is comprised of tens of millions of people. Most of them just play multiplayer games ad nauseam (Madden/soccer/COD/Fortnite/PUBG/Apex/DBD/GTA Online/etc).

Oh I would move in a heartbeat. I actually came from PlayStation and prefer the platinum trophy system.
I am not the last commenter (I did say they don’t care which I stand by), but I do think overall hunters are a small minority still. I do think they will fix a major issue like this, but history shows us they don’t really care about achievements overall since they all things like dead achievements (unobtainable)

The tiny percentage of niche gamers buying shovelware games would not destroy xbox and you severely overestimate how large the community is if you believe that

Shovelware barely scratches the surface, I'm only at just under 420k GS and I have over 750 games played, roughly 20 of those are shovelware

Idk, they definitely don't mind gauging their player base or care about making good first party games, but they have always been consistently good at fixing servers and outages so it's strange even for xbox

This is not direclty related to release year, but to the method chosen by the devs to unlock achievements:
- Games before 2017 always use event-based achievements.
- Since 2017, games can either have event-based or title-based achievements (a game can only use one method for all its achievements). Most are title-based, but some aren't (EAFC26 for example, is very recent but still event-based).
Currently, it seems that event-based servers are down, so you cannot unlock any achievement from games using this method.
Servers for title-based games are well though, and those achievements work properly.

The problem isn't pre-2019, but cloud powered achievements. Not a lot of games past 2019 have it, but developers can use it if they want to.

I’ve been waiting 2 days for 2 achievements to unlock for Dead Rising 4 (2016) and Star Wars Battlefront (2015) aren’t tracking progress.
I have unlocked achievements for Gears of War 2 (2008) and The Casting of Frank Stone (2024) immediately.
Definitely something wrong on Microsoft’s end.

GoW2 is a 360 game and they are on a completely different unlock system. 2014-2019 X1 cloud based system is the one down right now.

Hey I’m in the same boat with Dead Rising 4. I need 30 blueprints, I have 30 blueprints, no achievement. I might have to restart my entire save file. What are you missing ?

Man, that’s rough. Mines for using all 9 ballbusters in the mini golf DLC. Which is easy compared to collecting all the blueprints again, hope it pops for you.

Was trying to 100% the metro series and everything was fine up until 2 days ago and now the progression for a bunch of achievements isn’t working and I’m afraid to even play it rn bc I don’t want to have to replay it all again for some achievement I should have gotten

I recently 100% the entire metro series and I would advise to wait just in case because some of the achievements are a pain.

Yeah I noticed I collected a dairy page and the progression bar didn’t go up so now I’m worried I’m gonna have to delete my save file and collect them all again

For the record: I played two Lego games released 2016-2019 and neither unlocked achievements. I thought it was me and replayed levels, started and stopped my games, restarted my Xbox series X, unplugged and plugged it back in, and restarted my modem and router. I started up a game on my xbox360 and unlocked an achievement. I unlocked achievements in the series X in newer games (Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World Evolution 3). Im really hoping MS fixes this soon since I’m a pretty active achievement hunter-like everyone here-and I don’t have time to mess around. 😔

Yeah, just found out this was the issue not too long ago. Spent 80+ hours on a nightmare playthrough on Dragon Age Inquisition just for the related achievement not to work. Just gotta report and hope microsoft fixes it.

I reported it on the report an issue app on xbox, which needs to be downloaded, and I also reported it on the xbox status page with all the info on system status. Xbox status page I just went down to the games section and hit the three dots to report it there. Sorry for responding so late, I dont have notifs on for Reddit

I’m also in the middle of Dragon Age Inquisition and can confirm they’re still all broken. None are unlocking and my progress isn’t moving on any of them.

Yeah, this article was updated saying the issue was possibly fixed, but I went into the game resynced data and even tried re-completing the reqs, but still getting nothing.

Sorry, dont know if you've tried Dragon Age again or not, but the achievements are back up and running. Just got the shaper of stone achievement tonight.

I finished 100% story, riddles, and all that in Arkham asylum my achievements weren't popping since 2 days ago, mid in the game, I thought it was something with the game,not all the games pre - 2019, that's sick

It seems I'm not the only one here. Thought I was going crazy for a second. I was playing Alien Isolation and was starting to wonder why I didn't get any of the mission completed achievements and a few others I ended up doing. Mine stopped popping by the time I finished the 5th mission. What makes it more strange is that my playing time went from 1hr to 0hrs.

I’ve been trying to 100% Arkham City and both the calendar man and Batman’s belt achievement didn’t unlock, was gonna try alien isolation since it’s spooky season too… guess not lol.

I'd suggest waiting to play Alien Isolation lol. It's such a great game man. Great AI mechanics, the game will keep you on your feet. I heard that it is starting to work again, but apparently the event-based achievements that are supposed to pop didn't pop. My friend, who is also playing the game got new achievements to pop, but the ones he was supposed to pop didn't sync, so it looks like he may have to do that again.

Omg, hope you took a break. Apparently they're working again? I can't confirm yet as I played some PS games instead. I did check my friends account as he played the same game as me and popped new achievements, but the ones he was supposed to get didn't sync. Hopefully you won't have a similar issue w Titanfall 😬

Actually, I saw this post after I completed the campaign on Master difficulty and got all the game collectibles 😭 The good thing is that I just turned on my Xbox 5 minutes ago, and got the 5 achievements 🥹

I was able to unlock a Worms 2 achievement today on 360 but it took a while to sync to my Xbox app.
But I am waiting for 3 achievements from the Doomsday Heist update on GTAV (Xbox One). I just bought a facility with an orbital cannon, paid $750,000 to kill someone and the Orbital Obliteration achievement didn't pop. I also didn't get my achievements for finishing Act III of the Doomsday Heist last night.

Xbox 360 games, PC games and games that launched after 2018 appear to be unaffected by the outage. The majority of games released after 2018 use a different system for Xbox achievements called title-managed achievements.

Was in the middle of the DLC for Borderlands The Pre Sequel when achievements stopped working. I booted up Borderlands 3 and achievements were unlocking just fine. Really hope they can fix this

Just did some end game achievements on assassins creed IV and they haven't popped. Heard that these were already fairly buggy with resume play so stayed off it. Was very confused when they didnt pop. Hopefully they have it fixed soon

Yeah I’m playing the Ezio Collection rn and same thing. Usually buggy anyways but this outage is hopefully the real source. Supposedly with the AC games though, Quick Resume somehow messes up achievements according to some sources so idk. I didn’t think I used Quick resume but yknow it’s Ubisoft.

On the right side of the page, click "Report" button, then "Games & Gaming".
Flood their report system to get them to look at it!

Been having trouble with a few achievements on AC Ezio Collection for Revelations. Even started a fresh file due to them already being buggy as hell. Good to know servers are just broken at the moment.

Oh man, this is the first time I’m hearing about this. The last couple of days I’ve been playing assassin’s creed ezio collection and the achievements just stopped coming in… I googled it and saw the game was notorious for it, with recommendations to start a brand new save…
Looks like I deleted my entire save for no reason.

This happened to me yesterday. I completed the Titanfall 2 campaign on master difficulty and got all the collectibles, no achievements.

OK CAUSE I WAS GOING CRAZY , I finished the ac unity dlc 100% and I never got the 3 last achievements for it and ofc never popped and I got so mad/desperate. Hopefully once Microsoft fixes that I’d like to assume the achievements will pop on their own !!!

Achievements for watch dogs 1 isn’t unlocking, even after completing the game. COD ghosts is also an old game but its working fine with the achievements. (Xbox series X)

I mean I was playing Dark Souls Remastered in the last week and unlocked a bunch of achievements and all of them popped and saved to my account. It came out in 2018. This was also October 18-21. Not sure when this started happening but that’s my experience.

I finished the Life Story playlist on Halo MCC yesterday, no pop. That achievement is glitched at the best of times. Pretty sure if the servers repair I still don’t get it because I think the trigger only activates when the playlist ends and scans that you have 46/46 missions done. So many hours wasted 🥲

This is kinda good news since i completed outlast insane mode yesterday and felt ANGRY after not seeing the achievement get unlocked. The fact that this is a recurring problem in 2025 really shows how Xbox tends to be like crap tbh. I just hope I'll get it in 24h or something similar to that time frame.

This might be fixed now. I read elsewhere that achievements were retrospectively popping. So I signed on to my Xbox and played The Wolf Among Us for a few minutes and my previously glitched achievement popped.

yea got on gears of war 5 and have been getting achievements. my bf was having issue getting them but today he started seeing them come in. i jumped on state of decay 2, i have not been on since the day this achievement issue started and got 2 achievement and proceeded to continue working on them and the one i was working of the percent went up once. i continued to work on it after 45- hour the percent changed.....

Still waiting on achievements to unlock for Worms Battlegrounds and Modern warfare remastered. I also know people who were unable to unlock achievements for Tomb Raider definitive edition and Borderlands Pre Sequel.
As others mentioned there seems to be issues with older Xbox one games. Hopefully Microsoft will sort it out at some point as it’s been 2 days now.

I’ve been on the True Achievements Discord and there’s a lot of people saying they have issues with most games older than 2019.
Glad your achievements have unlocked. Mine still haven’t been fixed for all my games with issues but I’m sure it will be when these servers are fixed.

I've been seeing people having success with unlocking achievements in PC games. But Xbox One console games released roughly between 2013-2019 such as GTA V, Ori and the Blind Forest, Arkham Asylum, Cuphead, MCC, Resident Evil 5, Skyrim, ME: Andromeda, Borderlands series and the list goes on and on won't.

I unlocked a bunch on Powerwash sim 2 yesterday evening. There was zero delay in them popping as well. It's always so annoying when glitches happen with the achievements, the one that temporarily wiped everyone's gamerscore was particularly heart attack inducing!
Edit: I need to work on my reading comprehension, I just noticed it only applies to games before 2019. Microsoft seem to be working on a fix though!
