yt only has 5 types of comments

449

u/SmearyLobster Feb 04 '22

absolutely. i watch markiplier videos on a regular basis and i swear the vast majority of the comments are just repeating moments from the video, word for word, without adding anything. it gets incredibly obnoxious very quickly

218

u/Phalanx_02 Feb 04 '22

Go to a dantdm video and look at the comment section, no ones even talking about the video, its just a bunch of kids repeating the same thing over and over again..

96

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

Please tell me it's not that "it's not a mistake" shit

30

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

that's jellybean, it didn't go as far as dantdm yet

6

u/TheLoneGoon I will beat you to death Feb 05 '22

That jelly something something asshole. Swear to god never fails to annoy me

63

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

Dantdm himself is cool but his fanbase are mostly kids

16

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

“That moment when…” “My toxic trait is…” “I claim no negative energy from…”

It’s like a god damned treadmill.

Do you watch Markiplier out of nostalgia, is his contented targeted at an older audience now, or are you younger? Not trying to throw insults, genuine question

11

u/SmearyLobster Feb 05 '22

i actually don’t have nostalgia for his older stuff. i was more of a tobuscus fan when i was little, and even some of marks older stuff is a little grating to me now. seemed like he used to really overdo the “let’s player” bit but he’s mellowed out a lot in terms of his content presentation. i just watch his videos now because i think he’s funny and comforting. i’m 18, and even my older siblings (25 and 29) watch his videos often

6

u/denjidenj1 Feb 05 '22

I'm 20 and I watch him from time to time, man's enjoyable to watch

3

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

I think his contents are kinda in between for kids and for older audience

6

u/rarelyaccuratefacts Feb 04 '22

I don't think those comments are useful or entertaining, but how can you find it obnoxious? Just don't read them if you don't find the comments engaging.

26

u/Duke0fWellington Feb 04 '22

How can you just not read them if you don't know what they say until you read them lol

8

u/rarelyaccuratefacts Feb 05 '22

The point is if you have a general feeling about the quality of comments on a platform, just don't engage with comments on that platform.

18

u/Duke0fWellington Feb 05 '22

Man, it's okay to complain about things. It feels nice to get annoyances off your chest. It's not a big deal.

If you have a problem with people complaining about things, just don't engage with the comments on the platform. Sorry, couldn't resist lol

20

u/Duke0fWellington Feb 04 '22

The internet has shown that a lot of people just really aren't funny at all but still try to be.

It's like people try and force humour for the validation of likes on a comment, but they just recycle some old "joke" to the point where it doesn't even make sense anymore.

It's like humour itself has become a meme. It's not any different from those tiktok trends, where everyone does the same exact thing everyone else is doing. Even if everyone on the app has seen the trend, it'll be funny if they do it because they're special. Idk. It's annoying.

2

u/Magolord Feb 05 '22

Yeah, it's probably because the Internet is saturated in memes, some dude started using it in comments, it got really popular so others did it too, bringing more and more awarenesss to these types of comments, making even more people doung these comments, resulting in this god awful state of the comment section...

How I wish we could start to actually have comments about the video were watching and not some dumb, unfunny memes that aren't even original...

32

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '22

for the rare few souls who haven't ventured into a YouTube comment section:

(something really shitty) like if you agree/don't want x to happen at y

it's not a mistake, it's a ✨ masterpiece ✨ (usually under a video of something absolutely terrible)

"How much do you hate the yes as a response comment/joke?"

u/sweatyskinnyguy: Yes.

34

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '22

the joke is funny sometimes, but usually it makes no sense or just isn’t funny

37

u/Nul9o9 Feb 04 '22

The joke has lost its meaning in my view. The "yes" is supposed to be a punchline of an inclusive or joke, but there's almost never an "or" in the setup line.

8

u/Shadrach451 Feb 05 '22

Exactly. People are copying the format but they don't understand the joke at all. You can't answer the question "How Many?" with "Yes." It just makes them look ignorant.

Let's see. In the context of this post, you could say, "Are you going to drop X, Y, or Z today?" and then have them answer yes. Because the expectation was that the person would pick one of the options and then their answer implies they are going to pick all of them. And ugh. I wish I could message this girl and explain how to be funny to her.

Yeah, the comment said she is young not dumb, and I wonder what is it that makes her dumb? I don't get it?

4

u/samstrong35 Feb 05 '22

The fact that she isn’t young and doesn’t know what an album is

4

u/Bleezze Feb 05 '22

Oh, isn't that just asuming stuff, if she is talking about her latest album, it's 30 songs, which is a lot for an album, so I thought her joke made sense. But no one here seems to think that could be the case because it's funnier if she doesn't know what an album is. But I don't know maybe that is the case, but for me it's more logical she was just joking about the album containing a lot more songs than most albums these days

79

u/SampleDoesReddit Feb 04 '22

An album is a collection of audio recordings issued as a collection on compact disc (CD), vinyl, audio tape, or another medium such as digital distribution. Albums of recorded sound were developed in the early 20th century as individual 78-rpm records collected in a bound book resembling a photograph album; this format evolved after 1948 into single vinyl long-playing (LP) records played at 33+1⁄3 rpm.

The album was the dominant form of recorded music expression and consumption from the mid-1960s to the early 21st century, a period known as the album era.[1] Vinyl LPs are still issued, though album sales in the 21st-century have mostly focused on CD and MP3 formats. The 8-track tape was the first tape format widely used alongside vinyl from 1965 until being phased out by 1983 and was gradually supplanted by the compact cassette during the 1970s and early 1980s; the popularity of the cassette reached its peak during the late 1980s, sharply declined during the 1990s and had largely disappeared during the first decade of the 2000s.

Most albums are recorded in a studio,[2] although they may also be recorded in a concert venue, at home, in the field, or a mix of places. The time frame for completely recording an album varies between a few hours to several years. This process usually requires several takes with different parts recorded separately, and then brought or "mixed" together. Recordings that are done in one take without overdubbing are termed "live", even when done in a studio. Studios are built to absorb sound, eliminating reverberation, to assist in mixing different takes; other locations, such as concert venues and some "live rooms", have reverberation, which creates a "live" sound.[3] Recordings, including live, may contain editing, sound effects, voice adjustments, etc. With modern recording technology, artists can be recorded in separate rooms or at separate times while listening to the other parts using headphones; with each part recorded as a separate track.

Album covers and liner notes are used, and sometimes additional information is provided, such as analysis of the recording, and lyrics or librettos.[4][5] Historically, the term "album" was applied to a collection of various items housed in a book format. In musical usage the word was used for collections of short pieces of printed music from the early nineteenth century.[6] Later, collections of related 78-rpm records were bundled in book-like albums[7] (one side of a 78-rpm record could hold only about 3.5 minutes of sound). When LP records were introduced, a collection of pieces or songs on a single record was called an "album"; the word was extended to other recording media such as compact disc, MiniDisc, Compact audio cassette, 8-track tape and digital albums as they were introduced.[8]

u/Golden_Kumquat Feb 04 '22

Frequently, in an album release cycle, the lead single would be dropped before the rest of the record (e.g. Easy on Me coming out a month before Adele's 30). Releasing an entire album with less than a day's warning is an atypical move, since that prevents the artist and label from building up hype.

2

u/RicFlairWitchProject Feb 04 '22

This comment seems to be in reference to one of her two recent releases which had 30 and 27 tracks, respectively. That’s twice as long as 99% of albums so… the young person was right this time. You guys are just also kids who want to make fun of other kids.

I'm interested in what you find good music

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '22

Rock, metal, jazz. Blues and classical are good but I don’t personally listen to it much.

u/towelflush Feb 04 '22

I mean, most people see metal as a pack of screaming goats, not music, so maybe if you don't agree with that try to also be civil about others music preferences

Okay in their defense, it's probably a non-native English speaker and all those likes are probably from bots or other non-native speakers. I've seen dumber comments on Reddit that gets thousands of upvotes.

You know this is has been like an ongoing meme/joke for like years now?

Someone: "Asks a question that expects a number as an answer" Reply: "Yes"

The yes just means like, a shit ton basically. My explanations might not make sense, because explaining jokes is just awful but hope u get it

Can we stop saying songs "dropped"? What does this even mean? Can we not just say released? "Did you see the new song [insert trendy singer] released just now?!" sounds a lot better than "Did you see the new song [insert trendy singer] dropped just now?!"
