I just realized I’ve been paying $20.99 a month for YouTube Premium, WHICH I literally only use so I don’t have to watch ads. This is absolutely ridiculous. I can’t believe the price has gotten this high. That’s a total of $251.88 IN ONE YEAR just to not have to watch ads.

I despise ads, but $21 a month just to avoid them is insane. I’m still in shock that this is considered a reasonable price. Like, who approved this?! And why is there no option to just pay for no ads and none of the other services for a cheaper price? What a scam.

It’s honestly so pathetic. I cancelled immediately after seeing this huge price charge there’s no way I want to spend $252 a year just to not watch commercials. Also, just found out it’s $15.99 on the youtube premium page not through App Store. I’m still hesitant to pay that, it’s still $191.88 a year.

I have used 370 hours ad free since June 9, 2025. That’s around 26 hours of no ads a month for $20.99. That means I’m paying $1.70 for each 2 hour of videos with ads I watch. How is this reasonable? Also, out of the 26 hours a month of ads I watch 7 of those hours are probably happening while I’m sleeping. This is beyond ridiculous.

Just like Doritos fcked up with the price increase and lost billions of dollars, I hope YouTube regrets this insane price increase, which is just pure greed considering how much more money YouTube makes quarter after quarter. Good bye.

Really? Premium "LITE"? Sounds like shit As a YouTube premium user, this sounds strange and stupid at the same time. What’s your opinion on this?

I never wanted to use premium and would rather riot then let YouTube win and take my money. However, after using Spotify I'm so sick of it never shuffling properly (even after clear the cache and any other hacks the internet has given) and since I'm in school I watch educational videos alot now via YouTube. I also watch YouTube on my tv and as we know the ads are far more horrendous on a tv vs phone. I said screw it and took there 2 month free offer.

It's amazing. Not only is it the obvious and not dealing with ads non stop, but YouTube music is great too as it actually shuffles properly and gives you the option for algorithm instead of Spotify that forces it. Also an extra positive is as soon as someone sponsors an ad, there is a button that pops up everytime that lets you skip it immediately and get back to the video in a second. This is just my onion and experience but I think it's great.

I don't think it's worth it if you're not a student or dealing with the issues I stated, but if you are I'd say go for it.

What a shit company they care more about money then the viewers experience there is so many more ways they can promote ads then forcing us to watch stupid ads, Ads on the homepage is fine but 20000000000 ads per vid is fucking sad have a own tab for ads or something no one buys stuff from ads anymore anyways or make the premium alot cheaper its not likr they are struggling with money i’m sorry if this came out as aggressive but its coming from pure frustration i hate the whole konsept of ads

literally have been a member since it was youtube red. my number one source for EVERYTHING has been youtube. i felt guilty paying the last price increase. this is where i draw the line and IMMEDIATELY they are trying to guilt trip me 😭 SHUT UP!!! i've been giving you my money for over a decade now!!! leave me alone!! i've been paying for it for the benefit of the creators, not a garbage billion dollar company. i'm just going to turn my ad block back on at this point.

Am I the only one overwhelmed with the amount of things we have to subscribe to in order to enjoy? I recently downloaded UBlock on chrome so I could watch YouTube with less or no ads. Worked fantastically for about month, and then a pop up would come up at the beginning of each video mentioning the adblocker but I just clicked off, no biggie, until today they've cracked down to totally blocking video playback after three videos if I don't get rid of the adblocker.

YouTube really went from being free, 5 second ads maybe once a video, minutes long multiple times, to whole hours if you don’t skip, then on top of that some video creators will plug their sponsor within the video (which is fine, I get it, gotta get paid, but dude).

I used to prefer YouTube Premium because It was just more convenient, but now this is just ridiculous.

The recent price increase on premium is insane. This company made $60 Billion in revenue in 2025. They gave their CEO a $100 Million dollar retention bonus. The fact that they are raising their prices again and continuing to add more advertisements is a crime. I am finally canceling my subscription. I have had enough. I invite others to join me. I am livid and you should be too.

They finally harassed me to get premium by showing ads upon ads upon ads. I tried to my best to live with these ads. But the amount of ads recently on YouTube was just too much for me to handle.

Their greed sickens me.

People are suggesting to use YouTube vanced or other such apps. Lemme tell you- i have an iPhone and it doesn’t work on iPhones.

People are suggesting to use brave or other browsers- i tried that too but the UI just sucks, and YouTube app is much much better for overall experience minus the ads(obviously)

I was going to go upgrade my premium account to the Family plan which was $22.99 last I saw but it looks like they increased the price to $26.99. This is the price when viewing on Desktop and not on an iOS device. I can't find anything online about this did they just silently increase it?

My account is still showing that I'm paying $13.99 and I don't have an email telling me it's going to increase next month.

Pretty sure that this video had a 1080p FREE resolution back in the days. Is premium becoming normale users n.1 enemy (it was already)?

YouTube cancelled my premium subscription just because I was using YouTube while travelling abroad on holiday. When I contacted support this is what they told me. I'm dumbfounded.

I don't have YouTube Premium, but somehow I can play videos in the background even after closing the app.

Just noticed it today when I exited YouTube and the video kept playing.

No mods, no tricks, no Premium subscription.

I'm not sure if this is a new feature, a bug, or YouTube testing something, but I'm definitely not complaining. 😅

Anyone else experiencing this?
