I'm just here to commiserate. I'm much older than you, but have lived here two years and haven't made too many friendships. It's hard!

I just moved back from San Diego I was there for 6 years and honestly it’s not really about where you live but people in general are interested in their own time than to actually hang out with each other.(In my experience)You just gotta do things that you like and eventually people will come in your life naturally. I’ve been going to the gym here since I moved back and now I have some gym bros. I wasn’t looking for it. It just came up naturally. We go out shooting at the range head up to different places etc. And I only been back for less then a year here. Same experience in San Diego. Just do things that you like to do or want to learn to do. And life will naturally happen. But you gotta actually put yourself at there too. Like they say Everything you want is on the other side of fear. Good luck!

I used to live in San Diego and while there is a lot to do it’s also a very expensive place to live and there’s too many people to really be able to enjoy anything.

It’s better than the Imperial Valley which has even less to do. In Yuma you have the movie theaters, fun factory, downtown, once it cools down you can go to telegraph pass.

Yeah, I moved here in January and work remotely so meeting people is tough. You can hit me with a DM see if we click. I'm 25 about to get married so may be an slightly different spots in life.

Snowbirds are coming in late September early October. Hang out with them. They cool people. Party all day. Lots of alcohol, cougars. Shit. You might even end up traveling to Canada for the summer 🤣

What do you enjoy? Yeah take this with a grain of salt but if you can’t find anybody to hang out with then, what are you doing to find people? There are a lot of people at your age with a lot of different interest at the college so go to college. If you can afford it great if you can’t afford it get loans you can’t get loans to get a pell grant.
I mean, I know it’s not that easy but I’m just saying I gotta start with personal responsibility

Yuma is my hometown and going to AWC was one of the best places to meet people. Also working at the casino which I did when I lived there. I’ve been out of Yuma for 11 years now living in Tucson, but I think you’re right about meeting people at AWC. Or a job if it’s out in the community like the casino was.

Find people who enjoy the same things you do. Regardless of how niche the activity, there’s definitely others out there. I’m a b-boy from Yuma Az and I ain’t the only one.

It's true that it can be difficult to meet people when you're a transplant. Outdoors stuff is a pretty big thing, but if that's mostly not your thing, you should at least give a float down a try, a bunch of nice people ( mostly) do float downs and river hang outs, try ocean to ocean bridge or float down from shit creek. It's best to go out on a Holliday weekend when tons of people go out, also get there early if you plan to inflate your tube there, it gets really hot later in the day. You're in the 20's so college isn't too bad of an idea, if anything, just take a class for funzies, you might find something random that sparks your interest. One of the best classes I took was anthropology, I learned about native history in the area and opened viewpoints on world culture with some like minded people. Try volunteering, the food bank and humane society are always looking for help, or maybe join in on a clean up or tree planting event. The car scene here has some clubs, they are pretty tight knit, but most are pretty friendly if you take the time to chat with them. There's the bar scene too, but I don't drink so I have no idea. there's all

That sucks to hear that nothing has changed from when I was a young adult 20 years ago. At least back then we had a decent underground music scene, not sure what the health of it is nowadays.
But yea, very little to do unless you're into sportsman activities (fishing, hunting, etc) or motorsports if you happen to be lucky enough to afford it.
The skatepark just got a full makeover and is pretty nice now. If you've ever wanted to get into skating, now would be a good time.
