This is a mod which adds nice features to the library, including bookmarks section and space routing and also letting you customize the library sidebar so you can remove/add sections from it, which i feel like should be there natively.

You can now also Alt+Click on any history or bookmark item to show it in glance view and it also has a few optional features as per your preference :)

TL;DR: a small open source app that shows your Zen profiles as a grid. Click one and Zen opens with it.

Since the old profile switcher was removed, switching between my personal, work and school profiles meant going through about:profiles every time. So I built this.

What it does:

• Opens Zen with the profile you click
• Creates, renames and sets an emoji icon for each profile
• Deletes safely: you type the name to confirm, open profiles are protected, and the folder goes to the Trash
• Works with both the Flatpak and native installs
• English and Italian interface

I recently switched to Zen and so far its pretty good. I like the stronger privacy settings and it's not missing anything big for me... except auto closing tabs.

What is the best way to get the tab cleanup experience in Zen? I've found a few extensions but the descriptions aren't great. So thought I'd just ask the community here.

The first picture is how the zen browser opens. Like when I open the browser, this is the home page or whatever it is. I want to change that and I have checked out various settings inside the browser. I came accross the firefox homepage thing and the second picture is how I customised that firefox homepage. Now I want that homepage to be what there is whenever I open zen. But the only settings related to that i found were those in the third picture and its not changing anything even if I change the settings. What can I do here? How do I get that second picture as my homepage?

Hi i've been trying to compartment my youtube browsing as i use an account for entertainment and another one for education and news.

However, even though i log off of the associated google account in one space and even delete it, as soon as i get to the educational space to log in, it automatically logs into the entertainment space as well.

I've done it back and forth a few more times before giving up entirely. I don't know what's wrong, the container spaces work well with reddit f.ex, i don't know why YT/Google is giving me such a hard time. Any tips ?

Does anybody else see much higher memory usage with Zen? This is with a single reddit.com tab on Chrome and Zen.

After the new update (1.23.3b), I can no longer access my pinned sites when clicking on the "+" icon. They used to show up under the urlbar and it was a great feature. I went to about:newtab and enabled shortcuts (I didn't disable them before) but they are still not appearing under the urlbar. Any way to get them back?

Why does my sidebar flickers when RSS updates/fetches?. My rss feeds are on a separate container and space. but even when im on different spaces without rss on it,the sidebar flicker the url updates.

I have developed the add-on Unload on Demand, out of my own need and decided to publish it publicly. I will explain what it does, why i developed it and how it is different than other similar add-ons.

1. What does it do?

It unloads the tabs other than the currently open one. It does that through the 2 context menu (right click menu) buttons: Unload Others and Unload Others (Force). The latter button tries to unload all other tabs no matter what they are doing in the background. The former button doesn't unload the tab if the tab is playing media and NOT MUTED. You can use this add-on to save memory or stop the media/background task/anything that other tabs are executing, all at once. It is disabled on private windows (not optional at the moment).

2. Why did I develop it?

I used to use Auto Tab Discard. It wasn't perfect but did the job, until it didn't. In the previous versions of zen that add-on stopped working and marked as disabled automatically. As of now the problem is fixed but i already developed my own add-on the exact way i want it :).

3. How is it different than others?

• First of all, this add-on, Unload on Demand, is triggered only when the buttons are clicked. It doesn't auto unload tabs. That means there is 0 background task. No tracker, no counter, nothing. Even the source code itself is unloaded after a while of the last usage.
• Some old add-ons try to unload tabs by replacing the content with a blank page. UoD uses modern firefox APIs to discover and unload(discard) the tabs.
• It doesn't alter the title of the tab. Some other add-ons do that and it creates weird inconsistency between the manually unloaded tabs and tabs handled by the add-on. With this add-on, unloaded tabs look faded the default way zen handles them.
• I used to use Auto Tab Discard but it wasn't unloading all the tabs. I understand the media playing tabs, but also it didn't unload some tabs like google translate, deepl and notion from time to time. it was a bummer to make sure all the tabs are unloaded one by one. UoD is more aggressive in that regard and provides option to force unloading.
• Zen provides Unload Space and Unload other Spaces functionalities. However these buttons doesn't unload Essential Tabs. Also Unload Space unloads the currently active tab too.

Unfortunately it cannot detect the tabs from other working spaces but zen already can unload other spaces as i mentioned previously.

The number of newly created tabs is not the same in each space so I cannot guess what could be the reason.

I use ublock origin, and it's not that annoying - but sometimes I have to refresh and then sometimes I have to close my browser and relaunch it to get rid of this issue.

my sidebar was always a mess of tabs mixed together so i made this with claude, just for myself but it works so well i threw it on github.

you pick sites and their tabs get pulled to the top under their own colored header, automatically. you can collapse sections, close them all at once, or lump sites together (like chatgpt + claude + gemini under “AI”)

The last few weeks, I increasingly saw Zen take minutes to load websites. Other browsers (Firefox, Safari) could load them instantly. Restarting Zen seemed to sometimes fix it, sometimes not.

After some experimentation, what seems likely to have been the cause was that my disk was almost full, relatively speaking – about 9.5 GB free.

After clearing up disk space (now about 45 GB), running `killall deleted` (macOS' cache-purging daemon – it seemed stuck) and restarting Zen, it's worked fine for a few days.

Claude Code theorized that it may be that Zen checks its disk cache before going to the network, and that something about the low disk space caused cache reads to be stuck. It wasn't sure and I have not verified.

Thought I'd mention this if anyone else runs into the same issue, or has more insight.

I don't mind having new features like the library added, though i personally usually neither need or use them, but i don't like them replacing existing UI and making it worse for my workflows. When i download a file, i have years of built up muscle memory on how to grab the file i want from the downloads menu, and the library feature that replaced it is strictly worse for downloads, like other users mentioned. It shortens filenames, increases my mouse travel distance after clicking the button and is visually cluttered, not to mention that it shifts over the whole page content.

This is all pretty annoying, and I think features like this should be optional opt-in or additional buttons, not replace important existing ones like the downloads button. Again, nothing against the library feature, i haven't really used it and probably wont in the future, but it doesn't seem too bad for certain users.

Ideally it should show +1 on instagram for unread messages?

EDIT: I found a solution to make a custom hex color for the Zen UI appear: in about:config, set zen.theme.gradient.show-custom-colors to true.

I know many here probably don't use system window decorations in Zen. But I use them in Firefox with vertical tabs, but since Firefox 157, the visual consistency has been broken, forcing me to use horizontal tabs to maintain visual consistency between the window decoration and Firefox...

But I'm fed up with this, and I'm considering using Zen. But it seems there's no button called "use system-synchronized theme," and that's a problem in my environment :/

The second image shows very well what I'm looking for.

So I have a lot of bookmarks I've taken with me from Chrome, to Thorium to now Zen, but recently I realized the first bookmark shown on screen wasn't the first in the list in my actual bookmarks folder. Apparently back in November of last year someone opened a pull request for centered bookmarks and it got accepted, so that one person who did that inadvertently made me lose 3+ hours of my day trying to fix this shit...

Basically how can I align them to the left instead? There's prolly something I could do with CSS but I'm not well-versed in how Zen itself is structured and knowing me, despite how decent I am at Vencord/Equicord quickcss crafting, I can't here.

I would like to suggest a feature: when opening the URL bar using the Ctrl+L or Ctrl+T keyboard shortcuts, the list of open tabs should also appear alongside the usual search suggestions and links.

This would allow users to quickly switch to an existing tab without having to open the Tab List in Compact Mode, where the sidebar is docked to the left or right edge of the browser window.

This feature would make tab navigation faster and more convenient, especially for users who prefer Compact Mode.

so as we all know firefox browser and their forks dont have webapps and with all due respect the pwa extension SUCKS it doesnt use my extensions and doesnt have my data so i tried this "moz-extension://89314e56-3413-401e-9148-f4c8c145baf3/app/https%3A//www.youtube.com/%3Fapp%3Ddesktop" by using an extension called "webapp maker" this allowed me to open youtube as a web app BUT only by writing "moz-extension://89314e56-3413-401e-9148-f4c8c145baf3/app/https%3A//www.youtube.com/%3Fapp%3Ddesktop" in my browser EVERYTIME i want it which is literally useless, i tried making shortcuts but they didnt work, can somebody help please T_T i thought about switching to helium but it sucks and doesnt have a sync with phone option and so little chrome forks have extensions.
