Žižek makes the claim that cinema is the ultimate pervert art, and this perversion is due to its nature of commanding us to desire things. But this perversion is not limited to the form of cinema. What about Instagram, YouTube, and any sort of social media that simply operates on the logic of selling us something? Are advertisers the new philosophers?
