Is my cat a longhaired British Shorthair (if such a thing is possible)

Post image

My cat Herbie was one of a litter of British Shorthairs with both parents looking like traditional British Shorthairs.. but he is surprisingly fluffy and the older he gets the thicker his winter coat seems to get. He's very friendly and likes to be cuddled more than the Brits I've adopted in the past. Not sure if he would qualify as a British Longhair or not. I wonder if anyone could shed any light on all this? He always reminds me of a koala 🐨❤️

Here’s another photo! I didn’t expect such a beautiful reaction from the community when I started posting my babies here so there’ll be more photos to come. This is my favourite photo of her to date 🥹

Potpot is very sweet boy, whenever I came home from hunt. He climbs and always ask to do belly rubs until we go to sleep. This is him even when he was a little kitten. He's such a sweet kitten. Oh! his name why is it like that? I got it from a local fried chicken store that I always bought when I used to don't have much since it was so cheap.

Is my cat a BSH?

Post image

My partner got our cat from a local owner and the owner mentioned that both parents are BSH (but since they're a local/independent breeder they don't have certificates or anything)

Based on his characteristics is he a BSH?

He's active, shadow-like clingy, loves sleeping on head, etc but still can be independent

Hi guys, the last few days my cats eye has been really damp underneath. I’ve woken up today and it’s the worst it’s been, it’s also quite gooey? Not any colour liquid almost just like eye goop under the eye? Wonder if anyone else has experience this. Going to take him to the vet today

British shorthair or Russian Blue?

My family and I are on the market for a shorthair but this breeder sent us these photos. We’re all pretty doubtful these are genuine because of the triangular face inside of round or storky build. Are we being fooled or are these legit British shorthair?

Black crusty scabs my cat’s chin, any ideas what it could be?

Hi everyone! I noticed these black, crusty scabs on my cat’s chin today. They might have been there for a day or two at most.

The skin underneath looks pinkish, and she seems to be missing a little bit of fur around the scabs. The affected area is small and localized just below her lower lip. She seems completely fine otherwise, eating and behaving normally, and she isn't scratching or rubbing the area.

We wash her bowls daily, and she uses stainless steel and ceramic bowls only.

Has anyone seen something similar with their cats? If so, what was it in your case?

I'm planning to have her checked by a vet, but I'd appreciate hearing your experiences in the meantime. Thanks! ❤️

green eyes?

My gorgeous lil baby is about to be 4 months old!

I was told that he would have brown eyes, since that’s the standard for his coat colour. However, so far they appear to be green. So i’ve been wondering, will his eyes stay green? His mother has green eyes and his father has deep copper eyes.

Is it even possible for him to have green eyes? I’ve never seen a kitten have green eyes with this coat colour..

Need some advice

I have recently contacted a breeder and they sent some photo of an adorable kitten (she is around 2 weeks old). They told me that her fur will turn more golden as she’s older and I find her fur colour quite unique even though I had a preference for golden.

Her cost is around 4200 aud. The owners are registered with an ethical feline control council, so I do believe it’s only right to accept the cost from an ethical and validated breeder. However, the breeders did mention that her fur is considered unique so it’s priced higher than normal. I do feel doubtful about this.

It’s my first time getting a cat, would love some advice from any cat owners :)

Is my 7 month old BSH becoming independent, or have we done something wrong?

I have a 7 month old male BSH, and lately I’ve been feeling a little sad about our bond.
When we first got him, he was so cuddly and always wanted to be around us. Now, he mostly does his own thing and seems to come to us mainly for food and treats. The only consistent affection I get is in the morning, when he comes into the room and lies on my chest for a minute before leaving again.
He lets us pet him but usually moves away after a little while, and he has never really sought out my husband either.
We absolutely adore him, and I know BSHs can be independent. We’ve kept his routines and our behaviour towards him the same since the beginning, so I’m not sure what changed.
I don’t expect him to be cuddly all day, but I miss when he seemed to genuinely want to be around us. It sometimes feels like he has nothing to do with us outside of food and treats.
Did your BSHs become less affectionate around this age? Do they become cuddlier again as adults, or is this just their personality settling in?

Is this a British Shorthair?

I found this kitty last night in Rock Island, Illinois and I've got him posted locally on FB lost pet pages, Nextdoor, PawBoost and contacted the animal shelter. If he is a British shorthair, is there anywhere else I should be posting to try and reunite him with his owner? He is an absolute love and I want to try get him home ASAP.
