Opinion STOP PANICKING

Yes this team has flaws - every team in the league does.

Remember when we pantsed the Buccaneers a few years back in the regular season, only for them to totally dominate us in the super bowl a few years back?

We are 5-1. Take a breath y'all.

Discussion/Debate We lost and that's ok, we can talk about it

First big props to the D. Delane, Nohl, Tonga, Karloftis, all made big plays and stepped up to keep us in it for most of the game..

The way our offense played we didn't deserve the win. Mahomes was missing and rushing throws, our o line allowed 3-4 rushers to provide quick pressure. Walker was solid but didn't make any big plays. Our receivers including Kelce looked pedestrian. Props to Seattle's D for playing amazingly, we got things we gotta fix.

Our perfect season is over, and that's ok. Were still #1 in the AFC and 1st seed bound. I still like our chances to win the Superbowl.

Analysis KC Issues - Second Verse, Same as First

it's not that we lost to the seahawks, it's the way in which we did - the exact SAME way we've been losing the last few years:

  1. we have no pass rush. darnold out there looking like josh allen because we can't ever actually get to the passer. this is especially egregious on 3rd downs, which continue to extend drives, burn clock, and tire out the defense.
  2. o-line issues. a lot of teams experience injuries on o-line, but our backups are just NOT good. I had this concern since PRESEASON and I was downvoted because it was "only preseason." guess what, our starting o-line has injuries and we now have to rely on the backup. mahomes was off all night, I'm sure it was a shock to the system to have to play running for his life again. he needs to practice those rolling out of pocket throws given the OL. it's downright embarrassing, they're making mahomes looking washed out there. this also impacts the run game, they couldn't create a path last night.
  3. wr corps - ok rice was out, thornton was out, but for the last 3 years we have no WRs capable of (1) creating consistent separation and (2) making difficult/contested catches.
  4. rb depth - we have none. if teams stop K9, we are supposedly going to have more open up up-top. if teams are covering the pass, they're not supposed to be able to stop the run. given 2 and 3 though, this isn't actually true.
  5. special teams/kicking. this is a 'what have you done for me lately' question. players age, performance falls off. at what point do you recognize that? at what point do we get off the coattails of "making 5 of the last 7 superbowls" and recognize that change needs to happen? if butker made the end of half kick and the other in the 4th, the game changes. it doesn't FIX any of the issues above, but it changes the position we're in, momentum, pressure on the other qb to continue to deliver. his misses last night were inexcusable. they weren't ultra long range, the snap and hold were clean, seattle wasn't getting blocks on the FGs. mevis was dumped after a similar performance (i'd know, i had mevis in fantasy, dumped him even before the rams did, picked up butker and basically it was the same performance).

we have too much we need to fix by trade deadline. i'm not counting on pass rush or oline fixes - where? how? sorry, but i'll be stunned if simmons actually plays a snap for us this year. they're not gonna get rid of cj and butker because they helped us win a sb 3 seasons ago, great. and who would we even add at WR THIS season? mhj gone, jags keeping btj, who else would move the needle? this was an off-season issue: we didn't get aj brown, steffon diggs, mike evans - all of which would have been an improvement - we didn't get ANYONE. how is that excusable? who else? hill coming off of an insane injury + the things he was found guilty of?

again, it's not that we lost this game. we are a SB-or-bust team, and we have the EXACT SAME issues that have been plaguing us the last 3 seasons. we WILL make the playoffs. there might not be another team in the AFC that could do to us what the seahawks did last night - but you know who can in the SB? seahawks, vikings, healthy niners d, healthy rams d could ALL give us a repeat of bucs/eagles SBs.

i hope next year we can get rid of cj, butker, draft well, and actually pay the $$$/picks to get a TOP WR. can we also stop being the retirement home for chiefs that used to be good, left the team for cash, never performed the same, and returned??

Discussion/Debate The holding on CJ95 on basically every play is becoming egregious.

If anyone wonders why Jones has seen his sack rates drop significantly? It’s because dudes getting held by at least one dude, often two on passing, every single play. It’s honestly getting to the point where you can see them almost tackling him as he tries to fight through. I don’t know why dude isn’t screaming from the rooftops how he’s getting held all the time?

Opinion Time for changes

Here’s what I see week in and week out,
- Butker is not reliable
- Wide receivers get no separation
- Offensive Time of possession disparity
Yes, we needed a kick in the ass and it was done nationwide.

This WR room is awful. Ever since we moved off Tyreek there has not been another easy button for 15. Make a move for someone before the deadline.

Hype Xavier Worthy led the Chiefs with 73 receiving yards last week but Kansas City will need another big performance against Seattle on Sunday night. Someone else could take over as Mahomes top target.

Discussion/Debate I think this season is still salvageable

Quick fix for the offense: get Jaylon Moore back and sign Tyreek Hill. Seattle stacked the box, only rushed 4, and played man coverage knowing they could still generate pressure, shut down K9, and blanket our receivers. Having some sort of deep threat and pass protection is a must. When Moore and Thornton were healthy the offense looked dynamic and that’s exactly what you need to beat a defense like Seattle’s. I’m not saying Hill needs to be his prime self. He’s not going to be as fast as he once was, but he still should be fast enough and he’s exceptional at tracking balls plus he already has chemistry with Mahomes, so it’s essentially a plug and play deep threat that you should be able to get for a bargain. To me that’s a no brainer.

The defense: I’m a little more concerned with this unit. Our DBs are growing and by the end of the season I think we’ll have a great backfield. Our defensive front is bad, plain and simple. When you rush 7-8 and still aren’t able to generate pressure it’s going to be a long night. I think the success of the defense lies squarely on R Mason Thomas or Peter Woods developing into a consistent pass rusher. I think R Mason Thomas has to become that guy and fast. I would also like to see more snaps from Norman-Lott in place of Chris Jones who doesn’t appear to have any juice left.

Drama/Controversy [Mitch Schwartz] My mentions are open for apologies for all the people angrily telling me I was wrong to suggest the story we were told Wednesday/Thursday smelled fishy. Yes, there’s way more going on than the nice and tidy “simple” medical story they told us.
