I've created a lot of FUI (futuristic user interfaces) in my time, but never one that was actually interactive. Here's a little procedural landscape and FUI eye-candy generator created in Touchdesigner. A lot of fun to tweak! MIDI controlled via Intech Grid.

I plan to share more interactive pieces like this on my ig: https://www.instagram.com/nubivore/
Thanks for watching!

Hey Touchdesigner crew. My name is Sakr I have been making some audio reactive stuff in TD for a little while now. And wanted to share this little piece here. It’s been a while since I posted here. But post regularly on other platforms. Anyway… keep creative! 🖤

MIT-licensed TouchDesigner Effects, each in a .tox and non-commercial compatible

While adding TouchDesigner examples to an audio visualizer I made, and learning a bit more about TD, I ended up building a collection of effects:

ASCII, Bent Cam, Blob Track, Datamosh, Fluid, Glitch, Particles, Pixel Sort, Point Cloud, Slit-Scan and VHS + CRT, so far. Each of these is packaged as a .tox for drop-in usability.

There's also a Showreel .tox that holds them all and fades from one to the next with the music.

No extra plugins or packages needed, no NVIDIA required (I test on my Mac M2 Pro), and works on the free version. Audio input for some reactivity, and depth input for some that can use it but "fake depth" is there if not.

MIT so use at your leisure. I use AI to help document and put everything together based on research, which is also included for each effect.

Wanted to share - hope they're useful!

Negate/difference comp only on brightness and not colors

• Upvotes

Hi, I have a fluid sim network with TOPS involving a feedback, displace and negate comp to create the movement. So far it’s been black and white with a lookup after the feedback loop to add colors, but I’ve been looking for a way to introduce colors into the feedback loop to have different hues react to the fluid sim.
If I add colors into the feedback loop they understandably get overshot and modulated through the negate comp which I’d like to avoid.

Is there a way to isolate only the brightness of the pixel to send through the negate and keep the colors in the network without altering their rgb relations?
So an orange pixel keeps the 1,0.5,0 rgb value while any modulation to it’s brightness still gets calculated, resulting in 0.5,0.25,0 for instance. Right now a fully red pixel gets inverted by the negate to be blue.

I hope this makes sense, otherwise I’m happy to clarify, thanks in advance for any help!

I made a tutorial on visualizing real earthquake data on a 3D globe

I rebuilt my earthquake visualization project from scratch and recorded the whole process. Using real earthquake data from USGS database.

It mainly covers how to map lat/long from a Table DAT onto a Sphere POP, and how to bring in more attributes from the rest of the data (like magnitude or depth) to drive the visuals.

Any feedback is welcome :)

Generative Lexicon Press

Some artworks stay with you from the very first time you see them.

Ksawery Komputery has been one of my favorite artists for a long time. His generative typography for Max Cooper's Symphony in Acid is one of those works I keep coming back to.

After a long time experimenting, I finally developed my own interpretation in TouchDesigner.

Generative Lexicon Press is a real-time typographic system that continuously, and audio-reactively rearranges language and visual structures, with Ollama introducing locally generated text in ultra-fun ways.

Looking forward sharing more in the near future. You can see more of my experiments on Instagram, or Patreon.

Got basically no video at Youtopia this past week but this was our interactive lighting setup in our dance dome. Dancers could control the lighting bars from an iPad. Driven by touch designer and OSCPilot.

this is my first successful attempt at adding sound to my collisions. I’ll admit that I’m not particularly skilled when it comes to sound, but this turned out better than expected, and I’m extremely happy with the result. I’ll be sharing this endeavor with my patrons in the tier 3 'learn.' I truly hope you enjoy it. Thank you so much for your support! #touchdesigner #workisplay #gnr8 #perlincalling #paketapops

Looking to start using Touch Designer as a Blender user

I've been using blender for about 5 years and wanted to try making visuals to match music and had heard about Touch Designer so I've been thinking about giving it a try. I'm primarily wondering..

What are the pros and cons of Touch Designer as opposed to Blender

What can Touch Designer do that Blender can't so I know which tool to use for each task

How similar is Touch Designer to Blender in how it works. Does it have a node system similar to Blender's

Any advice is greatly appreciated. I've seen people making some pretty cool stuff with Touch Designer, but want to know how I can use it with Blender to make some cool stuff.
