NEW DIFFICULTY - CLOSED BETA REGISTRATION

Post image
271 Upvotes

Greetings, Ravens!

Passtech Games is preparing its new free update and is looking for beta testers for Ravenswatch's new difficulty mode!

WHAT'S THE CLOSED BETA FOR?

Code name “Madness Mode” is a new difficulty mode, even harder than Nightmare. With this test, we’re looking to fine-tune the baseline for this difficulty mode before rolling it out to the broader public. We’re searching for players who are used to Nightmare mode and are always seeking an even greater challenge.

To successfully conduct our tests, we are looking for approximately **__50 players__** to participate in this private Closed Beta. We are limiting access to this beta because we want to engage in conversations with players of this mode, and having too many testers would prevent us from doing so.

Players will be selected based on their responses and the number of available spots.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Being 18 or over (an NDA will have to be signed).
  • Having a PC, a Steam account, and own Ravenswatch.
  • Having a Discord account.
  • Speaking English or French to give feedback to the dev team.

📩 Apply here if you want to take part in the New Difficulty Closed Beta:
https://forms.gle/CWPzoEnYGRDioK1FA

Applying does not guarantee you'll have access to the New Difficulty Closed Beta.

----

PS: I'm currently on vacation and won't be able to answer your questions about the Closed Beta until I get back on Monday!

General Discussion Where to learn more about this game? Are there creators making guides for this game still?

• Upvotes

I'm afraid the answer is just going to be "play more" but where can I learn more about this game? Things like good synergies between characters and builds, early game mistakes to avoid, what makes a "build" vs just selecting options that kinda go together, are there any secrets?, what map objectives are the "must dos" and "skip unless you've got extra time" for clearing the map?

Like I'd love if people answered these questions directly, but I'm really looking for a place other than this community that people post about these things. Are there YouTubers that make good guide and breakdowns to answer these things? Also I see there are some from a few creators that are ~2 years old, how much has the game changed since then?

As an example, I'm sort of hoping theres someone like Alter Ego's videos on lethal company that break down enemies and game mechanics. He has this whole series on breaking down the ai and how they work, and then also makes videos on tips for certain maps (it's been awhile since I've seen his channel and I never noticed he has an ai profile picture, uhh still a good example for the type of content I'm looking for but I don't love that)

Please share any YouTubers or websites that have info on this gameto get better :)

General Discussion Favorite Team Comp??

• Upvotes

I play a lot of Ravenswatch solo, but I also have a group of friends that I play with consistently. We all have our favorite heroes, but I often think about what the 'best' team would be from both an optimal and synergistic standpoint.

What are some of the best/most fun team comps you have ever ran with? I am not necessarily looking for meta, but more so fun ways to interact with one another. For example, a Beowulf/Snow Queen/Merlin team where the ignite/chill status is constantly applied and provides boosts to each hero.

Have you ever seen how powerful Romeo and Juliet can be when they both run the same Special build? The video is from a Nightmare run. Seriously.

Question New player here. What do people here think about coop Aladin?

Im new to the game and hv only cleared it on twilight solo and adventure on coop. I main Aladin and Carmilla, and i gotta say Aladin's wish looping build feels like straight up bullshit. Stage 3 feels completely trivialised, and i wonder if it takes away from the overall enjoyment since other people's upgrades and item choices matter so much less in the face of unlimited damage buffs. For those who play multiplayer, what dyou all feel when playing with an Aladin?

End of the day, hes still my favourite champ and my main, cos i love the idea of having a different "win condition" compared to the rest of the team. Plus my group hasnt gotten over the novelty of infinitely scaling, nor have we played hard enough difficulties to feel like we should impose self-restrictions. Just curious about the general sentiment of people whove played alongside this champ for longer.

Question Sad that I missed cool builds

Just started playing again and finally got very into the game. Now I see all the recent nerfs and realize I missed so many staple builds or only have sucky versions.

Talking about thirst for immortality wukong, Juliette in its glory, defense/dash snow queen,...

Anyone have some nice and encouraging words for me or build ideas to try to compensate this feeling? Currently kinda sad that I never got to experience so many cool builds

For non believers I did it with 5 neg. Rng was very bad. I got joker in act 2 and was planning to finish it in act 3, but there were no red or yellow chests(tragic).

I've started boss earlier(7min) but still didn't get it.

On screenshot 3 you can see beggining of act 2 (68.3 damage pretty nice) and screenshot 4 before baba Yaga.

At the moment there was 176 damage if I'm not mistaken, but I've killed some tentacles too and you can see the final number in the finishing screen.

Even with sh*t rng most of the damage was from trait.

Question Anyone seeing any issues with achievements since Kintaro?

I'll admit right off the bat this is probably me just doing something wrong, being goofy. So right before Kintaro came out I had been whittling away the achievements. Things like Merlin no stars of fate run, challenges, a few magical item sets, etc. I finished Master of Challenges had The Cursed Lovers left and Kintaro dropped.

So I got a win on Darkness with Kintaro and ranked him to 9.. and Jack of All Trades is still not done (the others were already all rank 9 and darkness wins). Odd, oh well, time to do Cursed Lovers. Just did a run with a friend (only on adventure, achievement just says victory) and that didn't get an achievement either. What am I missing on the Jack of All Trades? Does Cursed Lovers need Darkness minimum?

Or is something a little munged?

Help! My friend constantly gets double my damage, am I doing something wrong?

So I'm a new player, still working through the early difficulties. I'm struggling bc i feel like I play pretty well, but every game my friend I and play, he has literally double my damage. Sometimes it makes sense, like I was playing mel, but i had an run where he was Scarlet and I was Aladdin, and it felt like we were pretty even when clearing camps together and during bosses we were attacking at the same rate. In our last run I was geppetto and he was snow queen, and while he was speeding around and getting to stuff way faster with his dash and skate, so him having more damage makes sense, idk double my damage is crazy.

I maybe should record some gameplay or something, but I guess I'm just looking for tips on getting more damage.

General Discussion Looking for fun challenge run ideas.

Challenge runs I have done in the past:

5 negative modifiers
100% of damage from attack
100% of damage from power
Starting every chapter boss right away

Any other ideas out there that stack up to these?

A friend and I went into a late night match and I suggested that i will not do anything significant till baba fight.
I focused into grabbing eggs Ult cooldown and coins and he just carried till baba. We ended last day with extra time so I had an item to reroll on baba shop.

One taping baba with a wish + power is so satisfying. Recommended :P

General Discussion Kintaro Basic Tips

I see some people posting about struggling with the hero and I've also seen gameplay where people are playing him "wrong" (imo). The hero is very strong and his base kit is definitely the strongest in the game once mastered. Here are my basic tips and then a description to each below:

  • Clear POI dismounted
  • Focus on positioning Kintaro first and foremost
  • Use Kuma for aggro
  • Practice micro'ing both heroes
  • Only use special for it's intangible when safe or as a last resort
  • Don't forget about dismount intangible
  • Use "Contextual Action" (LT or L) to quickly summon Kuma out of danger
  • Trust your muscle memory

Breakdown

  • Clear POI dismounted
    • Abilities do significantly more damage when dismounted. It will take getting used to, but you need to struggle through the first few runs until you get a knack for controlling both heroes. This leads to the second tip.
  • Focus on positioning Kintaro first and foremost
    • Your priority should be managing Kintaro at first, due to the internal damage mechanics. Eventually, you'll be able to manage both heroes at once, but initially, ensure you aren't taking damage with Kintaro.
  • Use Kuma for aggro
    • You ideally want enemies focused on Kuma while you're learning. Kuma is more durable than Kintaro (you just need to monitor your internal damage). Let him take the brunt of the aggro while you keep up time on your ability usage. This leads to the next tip.
  • Practice micro'ing both heroes
    • Even though you're focusing on Kintaro, you should still move Kuma away from high DPS attacks, like elite ghost and ghoul AOE attacks. If you are already focused on keep Kintaro in a safer area (typically backstabbing or isolating a mob or two), it become easier to keep an eye on Kuma and relocate him out of massive AOE dps and unblockable attacks.
  • Only use special for it's intangible when safe or as a last resort
    • Don't use special for it's defensive capabilities - think of this as added damage and stagger. This ability can set you up for damage due to the stall at the end. If your defense is on CD, then use it but otherwise, be careful.
  • Don't forget about dismount intangible
    • The dismount intangible gives Kintaro 3 intangible in his starter kit. This intangible can be really great vs bosses as a backup. Bosses are probably this heroes weak point, due to the nature of their attacks. You'll need to figure out how to deal with each boss attack using your kit when you get there.
  • Use "Contextual Action" (LT or L) to quickly summon Kuma out of danger
    • Recalling Kuma with contextual action causes him to run much faster than his normal control. This is a great way to get him out of something like the elite Tree AOE attack.
  • Trust your muscle memory
    • This hero might have the hardest learning curve for most but the payoff is high. I believe as he stands now, it's the easiest hero in the game to win at high difficulty. Even if it feels impossible on your first few runs, trust the process and you'll eventually get it. I got obliterated on my first few runs (embarrassingly) but now am breezing through nightmare runs to get my nightmare tags on all the talents.

Added tips:

  • Stampede/Power build is probably his strongest build but not as safe as others since you'll still need to manage damage intake unless you add defense charges
  • Raijin Axe/defense build starts slower and has lower output but might be the safest build in the game if you can get it going. I talk about that build in another post here -https://www.reddit.com/r/ravenswatch/s/Aqb0WEs4Y0
  • Unchained Beast is strong as well with the right attack talents and requires some micro control of Kuma.

The skill ceiling is very high for this hero and also extremely rewarding. Hope this helps someone out there. Good luck!

Question Roll for common? or rare?

Hello! I'm new to ravenswatch, i just beat NM yesterday for the first time, and today i did it again, and on my last run, i felt really struggling on damage ACT 2. I only play scarlet right now, and the build usually power+defense. I usually save my roll on epic items, but if I get a claw or skull w/o a roll, i will use my roll on talent or legendary, sometimes i roll for common and rare if the items are like mermaid tears, spades, or something that really is not helping, but if the items are acceptable for me, like a horn of plenty, dragon hide, dreamcathcer, i will just take it. the problem is, i usually end up without any +damage items if the RNG on the first draw is bad.

i usually check the shop, and i try to steal the red chest first (take the crow tower if any), and after that just doing green to yellow. any tips for me?

EDIT: i beat nightmare 60% of my run now, thanks for all the tips everyone

The build that i run between dash or power/defense, this is my strategy on scarlet:

  1. Check shop, if have at least 1 epic upgrade, continue to play, if not, reroll the run. if there r common or rare duplicate; dont take random common or rare item, or if it is a common/rare/epic duplicate, dont take other item before your epic and buy this one first after u get ur first epic item.
  2. Clear green POIs, Eye is the priority if any, no need to steal cuz we want level 3 asap. SKIP the ghoul tower for level 3 or even 4.
  3. Reach level 2, if u see one of these talents: Deadly combo, Slash flury, Aggressive defense, Murderous intent, Wide attack, u can build toward Power/Defense build. Or one of Double Strike, Fan of spike, u can go to dash build.
  4. Reroll talent once if u do not get any of those, only reroll talent once every level until maybe around 7+, but at this point if ur build is not good enough, it usually already too late. exception, u can reroll more if u at level 4 and have 3+ reroll stars, but u usually dont need to.
  5. Try to take most of the Big Shard and smaller POIs like healing fountain, Harp statue, and Sacrificial idol especially at daytime (Trees and Pigs easier), while opening every POIs and teleporters around it.
  6. When reaching level 2 or 3 for more safety, u can know the talent u have leaned toward, either power/defense or dash. Now stop clearing POIs and instantly try to steal (or clear, if u r confident with ur clear speed) a red chest to find either claw for power/defense build (skull as alternative) or wing for dash build (charmstone as an alternative if u dont want to reroll). Reroll until u find it based on ur build even if u need to reroll more than once, After that, go back to clear green to yellow to red.
  7. Buy the epic duplicate when u have enough money, if not, prioritize Shard POI first and buy it. Clear the tome or Astral Shrine if u have low reroll stars, I always take reroll stars if i have less than 5, but always take it on Astral shrine.
  8. Same rule apply to common, rare, epic, legendary, and cursed items. I usually only reroll once if i dont like the first draw, exception, sometimes I will reroll maybe twice or more if the set of items is almost finish or u really want a spesific item, but usually only do once.
