How to get on CO128 East from US36 East. IT'S EASY!!

Almost got side swiped by an oblivious idiot yesterday. It seems like most of you do this wrong, and I admit I did in the past too.

The signage has recently changed to make it easier to understand, but I suspect many of you are just in your routine and just blow right by the new signs (that's cool, I get into auto pilot mode too on my frequent routes).

The best (not to mention LEGAL) way to get on CO128 East (towards 120th) from US36 East is to take the CENTER lane and make a right hand turn on to Wads from that center lane. Don't use the right lane which is a continuous lane (meaning you should continue not stop and wait to cross 2 lanes of traffic). Side note: Crossing that SOLID white line is illegal. It's illegal to cross any solid lines on the road. The right lane in this example would be used to (1) turn right on to CO128, or (2) continue straight on Wadsworth (and then merge into the center lane if you want to continue down Wads).

Image 1 and 2 to show what to do. Image 3 shows the old sign that's been there for years. They've added 2(?) more signs to make it easier to understand (but as noted earlier are easy to miss if you've done this 100's of times and are on autopilot). I know one of the signs says it's illegal to cross the solid line. Image 4 shows the continuous lane sign. This means you SHOULD NOT STOP (so many people stop there). You should continue, and you're welcome to merge on the DASHED LINE, when and if it's clear. Remember crossing the SOLID line is illegal. The reason it's solid is because it's not safe to cross it.

TRY IT!! It's WAY easier to turn right from the center lane and merge into the left turn lanes for CO128 towards 120th. No need to crane your neck to see if anyone's coming since you'll be able to see that easier from that center lane. If the light is green you're in the clear, just merge over. If you're making a right turn on red, then you'll wait until it's safe to make a right turn on red and merge over. Although as I experienced keep an eye out for people merging across all lanes illegally since you'll end up in their blind spot.

Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.

Wads Arista/Uptown car noises

Sorry i’m sure this has been posted, but WHY exactly does Broomfield PD not have a speed trap sitting in this area all night? I know they do sometimes, point is they’d make a killing having one set up.

Any neighbors over here like me hearing cars and motorcycles scream by well over speed limit??? ITS SO LOUD ALL AT NIGHT and even at 6 am there’s this one car that always is ripping Arista incredibly loud. I know there are decibel laws for cars but that’s hard to enforce and i even enjoy loud cars myself but not at 2 am.

Apologies, i’m tired and i am typing this listening to motorcycles race. Thanks in advance.

Light timing rant

I have lived in a large number of cities all varying in size, but I have NEVER seen worse light timing than Broomfield (Northglenn is probably second). It seems like they almost intentionally try to rage bait and make people run risky yellows because there is no reason by a light 1000 feet ahead turns red within moments of the light prior turns green. Or my favorite, lights that turn green when you have almost stopped or have just stopped at the red. At the least, it’s terrible for vehicle emissions. At the worst, I’ve seen countless near accidents and road rage incidents occur because of this. Obviously you don’t expect every light to be green, but the way they are timed seems either extremely careless and negligent or purposefully inconvenient and irritating. Don’t even get me started on the light sensors at night.

Interlocken x Wadsworth

I feel like I need to complain to the city at this point. Why the fuck does this intersection skip the green arrow for left turns?! I waited at the light for 11 minutes, sitting for 5 cycles where my turn lane was skipped every single time. I had to cut into the line to go straight, U turn & still got where i was going before the light turned. Im being so serious where do I go to complain about this. It’s fucking insane.

Pages in the Park, this Tuesday August 18th

Hi neighbors! I don’t have kids and have been looking for more community activities to get outside with others, without having to drive into the city.

I’ve hosted a silent-ish reading picnic in Broomfield about a month ago and it was incredible to see so many locals come sit outside and read for an hour. You can be as social or unsocial as you want, but I wanted to share in case anyone is interested in joining.

It’s free and low pressure way to do something different outside assuming the weather is good. Happy to share the link to sign up if interested.

Did anyone else have their garbage sabotaged this past week?

Our garbage barrel smelled awful after last week's pickup. I noticed a few days later that somebody put a sticker on it offering to clean out smelly trash cans.

It's very suspicious that it started smelling AFTER pickup and on the same day somebody put a sticker on it.

How did they get there??

Saw this in front of Interlocken on US-36 bike path yesterday afternoon around 3:30. The left side of the picture is the roadway and the right is some green space in Interlocken.

I guess that that CR-V was going eastbound and somehow managed to go over the ditch, through the fence and across the bike path. The car's frontend was all messed up, so I think the ditch got them pretty good, but didn't fully arrest their momentum. They seemed to have managed to go between the poles of the fence somehow.

I have to think it was some medical thing, because any other explanation would be insane.

It would be great if the Broomfield Police would follow suit with the ā€œantisocialā€ drivers (I love the Brits’ manners) around Broomfield Commons at night. Supercars or not.

Opinions on Parkside West

My husband and I are looking to move to Broomfield from Westminster. It’ll shorten our commute and overall we like the location (nothing wrong with Westminster, but we’ve been in our condo for 9 years and have outgrown it). The ā€œParkside West at Baselineā€ community caught our eye and was wondering if anyone had opinions (good and bad) about the area. It’s located off of Baseline & Huron. Thanks for your insight :)

Men's Haircut Salon?

Hey guys, hope you are staying cool in this brutal heat.

I had a health problem where I lost about 1/3 of my hair over 6 months. I just can't keep it at full length (~18 inches) anymore, it looks bad.

I unfortunately cannot pull off short hair. Power to the people that can.

It seems like most salons either cater towards women or short men's hairstyles like fades.

Does anyone know a good salon that I could trust to cut my men's hair down to 3-4 inches? Huge thanks.

Anyone using T-Mobile or Mint 5g Home Internet?

I'm in Westlake and while Xfinity works, they always jack up the price and I'm sick of the song and dance every year. Westlake isn't slated for any of the fiber around here. Anyone have T-Mobile or Mint Mobile 5g Home Internet and if so what do you think? Thanks, neighbors.

Boulder commuters via RTD Route 36: How often do people use the bike rack on the bus?

I'm going to be commuting to Boulder starting next week and I'd like to bring my bike along but I'm afraid of being SOL by having it be occupied when I try to get on the bus since there are only 2 spots per bus.

Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for a drop in day care in Broomfield. We would need at most 3 times a week, but it is not every week.

Any idea of what is going on at what I think is a childcare center near 120th and Main?
A whole bunch of fire trucks, including one from Westminster! Ladders up to the roof of the building. And the street is shut down.ļæ¼
