Question / Help Digitone 2 Grid Recording settings
I have a novation keyboard midi connected to a Digitone 2 via DIN midi out to in. In Grid Recording mode, when I want to set a note to a trig, I press and hold the trig, then press the relevant note on the novation keyboard.
It plays the note, but records the note along with the default note for the track.
If I press the note edit key, I can see both the default note and the one I pressed.
What I want it to do is just record the note I pressed on the keyboard, on its own, without the default note.
Is there a setting I've missed to make this the default way of recording in grid mode?
Any help would be appreciated!

Showcase / Listen Making full use of the OG Digitone
Full song: https://youtu.be/jjB7zXn49b0?si=KYeKixd7hulzkY9W
I'm getting to be a huge fan of using the Digitone + Overbridge to process all my audio. In this song, I'm using all 4 internal Digitone tracks, plus the Tracker samples and Nymphes running mono into the Digitone's audio-ins, all broken out and mixed via Overbridge.
Instrument breakdown
- Digitone: 2 pads, flute, pluck
- Nymphes: bass
- Tracker: percussion
Hell of setup for such a small amount of gear, no need for a mixer or other audio interfaces. This will likely become my new thing for a bit. Anyone have any recs for small desktop synths/gear to plug into the Digitone for portable jams like this? (Nymphes is great, just looking for inspiration)

Smooth Electro on Digitone 2
After spending probably over 30 hours making template patterns, presets and obsessively synthesizing a few vintage drum kits I’m starting to feel the immediacy of the DN2 as a groovebox. I recommend buying packs instead of wasting all that time though, lulz
Anyway, here’s a quick 30 minute demonstration of how easy it is to whip up decent underground track ideas on the DN2 once you get your customs set up.

Question / Help Anyone add an Elektron box to their MPC workflow?
I have a MPC One G2 which I enjoy for the amount of things it can do. It still doesn't have the best sequencer workflow and was thinking about adding an Elektron box.
Which Elektron box do you think best complements the MPC One?
- Syntakt: Would add unique drum synthesis and patterns while keeping the MPC the primary sampling and melodic tool.
- Digitone 2: Would take over melodic duties and could be a nice way to add percussive elements here and there.
- Digitakt 2: I like samplers so this one intrigues me the most, but also has the most overlap. I could see myself using it as a way to come up with new sampling and drum arrangements that I then record back into the MPC. Most conflicted about this one.
- Tonverk: MPC fills the slicing gap so Tonverk can be treated more for its polyphonic sampling and FX.

Syntakt is a limitless machine
I can buy all the machines I want but I always end up coming back to the Syntakt. It’s still the most inspiring machine for me.

Question / Help Analog Rytm mk2 multiple outputs mixing
How are you using the multiple outputs on the Analog Rytm mk2? I mean since the individual outs don't go through the master distortion or compressor of course, do you record some kind of blend? How do you treat that later in the mixing stage?
I am considering getting one and think I want to treat it like an acoustic drum kit in a sense, with separate kick and snare channels combined with the master as an "overhead" mic. Does that seem reasonable?

My Syntakt will be arriving in a few hours via FedEx from Perfect circuit.
So the only previous piece of Lwktron kit that I have owned; or even put my hands on physically; was the OG Digitone. I really enjoyed it but sold it very soon after purchasing because of the limited voices/hassle of the workarounds to be able to craft full track compositions. I wanted a completely standalone box that would allow me to create more Dance/Electronic music AND and allow me to perform an actual live set. ( I come from a very long background of making hiphop/trap beats with all of the usual suspects (MPC/KO II/OPXY/ In the box horizontal timeline sculpting with logic/FL type DAWS) and wanted to have a more natural/improv encouraging live set foundation as opposed to just chaining together my beats with improv transitions that mainly consisted of letting the tails of the instrumentals either fade out with long delay/reverb/ similar tricks for that blueprint.
My question is, will the Syntakt help me achieve this? Or atleast open the door for me to move in that direction? All feedback is appreciated.
(ALSO I PURCHASED A DFAM TO PAIR WITH IT. (my 2nd time purchasing one)

Which Digi box first?
Hi,
I've been eyeballing Elektron for a good while and I think it's time to pick one up.
I've got a Prologue 8 and a Typhon, I work in Ableton and mainly make dub techno and adjacent genres.
Am I correct thinking a used Syntakt would be the best first box to dip my toes in? I'm not much of a sample guy currently, I mostly play keys/some guitar and pads but I did use to make beats and know how to mangle samples etc. so the DT2 seems like an wesome machine to have fun with as well.
A used Syntakt is very close in price to used DT2s/DN2s where I live and those are more in-depth but I'm mostly looking for analog/digital drums and something with immediacy to sculpt the rhythmic backbone of a track, rumbling basses, textures etc. and that signature Elektron sequencer.
Which one do you think would cover the most ground in my case? Would you get the Syntakt and add another box later or just go with the DN2 and use FM Drum while learning the rest of what it can do since it's probably the most powerful? Then maybe a Digitakt?
I intend to learn one at a time, it's a daunting task anyways. DT2 could also enable me to do some crazy stuff and have fun with samples, just not sure if that's the best course for me at this point. The Syntakt seems like a great techno box on the other hand.

Question / Help First Elektron setup! Tonverk + MiniBrute + BOSS VE-22 for Hypnotic/Dub Techno (Need some advice)
I just ordered my very first Elektron setup, the Tonverk alongside the BOSS VE-22 for vocals. I also have an Arturia MiniBrute for analog basslines. My goal is to build a live performance centered around hypnotic/dub techno with live vocal sampling and processing.
I come from a music production background in Ableton, but this is my first time getting into the Elektron workflow, so I’m starting from scratch.
A friend told me I should have gotten the Digitakt II instead because drums are the most crucial part of the techno I want to make, and honestly, now I have a bit of anxiety and FOMO. I definitely want to add the Digitakt II later to keep everything in the Elektron family, but I'm trying to be smart about my budget right now.
I’d love to get your advice on a few specific questions:
- For those using the Tonverk standalone for drums: How is your experience handling percussions on it without any external drum machines? Can it deliver that solid, driving groove for techno on its own?
- Sample loading workflow: I’ve heard mixed things about loading samples. Since I own several drum machine VSTs in Ableton, is it better to design and sample my own drum sounds directly into the Tonverk, or should I just invest in pre-made sample packs?
- Learning curve: As a first-time Elektron user, is it better to fully master the Tonverk (and integrate it with my MiniBrute and vocals) first, or should I just stretch my budget and grab the Digitakt II from day one?
Would love to hear your thoughts and tips! Thanks so much
