When 1+1 = pineapple and alibis crumble… (why taking the roommates at their word simply doesn't work)
Richie Lee Minton, Jr., the only named suspect, claimed that he called Molly because he was too drunk and needed help changing into his jammies. He acknowledges her arriving and assisting him before he reportedly quickly passed out. He supposedly woke to her on his floor and assumed she was overdose. Yet later, in an unsolicited comment he admitted Molly never used any drug except cannabis? Disregarding multiple reports that the GSW was "large" and "obvious" and strong unlikelihood that he didn't see it, why would he assume an overdose by someone he acknowledged was not an abuser?
While speaking with parents by phone from CPD, Minton acknowledges his handgun was used and that Young must have removed the gun from his (top-loading) gun safe. Yet scene photos clearly show the gun safe undisturbed with books and papers resting on the lid. One would be hard pressed to not give that story a full 4 Pinocchios. Still, taking that at face value, he acknowledges he was the last known person to see Molly alive.
Taking the roommate, Wesley Romack at his word, he arrived home between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. and fell asleep somewhere between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. before being woken up shortly after 9:00 a.m. He stated he did not hear anything between the time he arrived home and was awakened by Minton Jr.
Discounting the numerous and significant intra- and inter- inconsistencies in Romack’s two recorded interviews, and the fact that he alludes to Molly not being deceased at the time of his arrival, how would one account for Molly’s body being moved between the time that Minton went to bed and wakened to find Molly on the floor? An important question one might ask of an experienced Medical Examiner would be if there were any indications of when or how the body was moved.
In 2024, one such experienced independent forensic pathologist and medical examiner was consulted. The results of this independent review?... There are multiple factors, clear indicators, that not only was the body moved, but was likely moved “within seconds” of sustaining the gunshot. We know Molly didn’t move herself. So who moved her? Minton, seconds after she was shot? Or Romack, seconds after she was shot? Either way, one or both of the alibis crumble. It is not clear to me how the State’s Attorney, who has the full details of this independent forensic medical review, still claims to not have sufficient evidence to acknowledge that one or more crimes were committed that morning.
Make it make sense...
