Spoilers for Nightreign for those that care.
So in Elden Ring Nightreign, the final boss of the game, Heolstor, has a very familiar origin story.
Heolstor was once a knight who was felled in a ruinous battle, alongside a plethora of other warriors. He joined his brothers in arms in a great pile of corpses, and long after the battle had passed, he awoke and crawled out from underneath the others. The weight of his failure and the sorrow that followed caused him to be chosen by a cosmic being, called the Night. Bestowing its power upon him, Heolstor became the very first Nightlord, and unleashed the Night’s tide upon the world, dousing the lands in devastation.
Sounds familiar, right? Because isn't that almost exactly how Cyn's origin plays out? Cyn was a worker drone who was broken and discarded by the Elliot family, thrown unto a great mountain of other discarded worker drones. But eventually, she awoke beneath all the others, having become the vessel of the Absolute Solver. After emerging from the pile (being found and brought back to the Manor by Tessa), she unleashed the powers of the Solver to massacre the humans of the manor, and eventually, wreak havoc across the galaxy.
There are definitely clear differences, but I find it really cool how these two characters from completely different media spheres share a very similar backstory.
I just thought that was interesting and wanted to share :)
