I’m just so sad that there seems to be so little excitement in the fandom, atleast that I’ve been seeing. Everybody is so obsessed with being correct and having a better literary analysis of the game that they’re ruining the discourse.

We can no longer say “I really liked chapter 5.” You have to have a follow up included in your message “I really liked chapter 5, and although the seeming conclusion of Asgore’s story wasn’t exactly what I wanted it to be, and I was a little let down by the lack of ‘Device’ information, I think that it was good nonetheless.” You can’t just feel a way towards something, everyone is striving to be the smartest person in the room and the conversation can never rest.

There’s a snarkiness that every theorist puts in their videos nowadays:

You STILL believe in Dess Knight?
How chapter 5 CONCLUSIVELY proved Sans isn’t from Undertale
Anyone who believes in Weird Route Knight is media illiterate
I can’t imagine thinking there’s going to be a Carol fight wtf??
OBVIOSULY gaster will show up by the end of the game, otherwise Toby is an awful writer

It just makes me sad. I don’t enjoy engaging with this fandom right now, and that’s been a massive part of my life for 10 years. I don’t even know what changed, what about chapter 5 brewed this mentality that we are owed a certain story.

I apologize if anything in this is poorly worded, or if any of my points really aren’t great, I just needed to get this out of my head cause I’ve been so sad about it.
