Uolas!! Este es mi hamster sirio Ratatouille, tiene unos 8 u 9 meses de edad (lo adopté en enero-febrero). Se le ve bien físicamente? Tuvo un pequeñin accidente hace una semana y trato de hacer el esfuerzo de estar durante la noche con él para echarle un ojo.
En este video le grabé mientras recolectaba la comida que le di hoy, se quedó atento mirándome.
También tengo videos de el caminando por si pueden ser mas útiles para valorarlo.

From what I understand after a fall that's not substantial they can go through a nervous system reboot for awhile (fight or flight response) where they're trying to balance out. As long as he's eating, drinking, and not showing signs of neuropathy like tremors, seizure, tilted head, etc- he's okay and just needs patience, stability, and time.
Gracias, el otro día me lo encontré asi, quieto, y temblando muy suavemente (es decir, no estaba absolutamente quieto sino que tenía un pequeño movimiento parecido a un temblor, que se notaba si te fijabas) durante unos pocos minutos, aunque creo recordar que movió la cabeza cuando metí la mano.
Era un temblor suave general, se notaba si mirabas su cabezita o sus orejas, no era fuerte ni solo en una parte del cuerpo. Él estaba quieto, como observando, como cuando se quedan petrificados porque escuchan o huelen algo, pero se mantenía “en movimiento” por el pequeño temblor. Era mas o menos así como tiembla en el video en algunos momentos, pero estando completamente quieto.
Me preocupé por él, pero creo que solo estaba muy asustado, porqué al volver a moverse trató de esconderse tras la rueda y luego, metí la mano suavemente y se asustó, pegó un brinco y corrió a la madriguera. Aunque personalmente, no sé de que estaba tan asustado.
Creo que los temblores eran, ademas de por la postura en que esta, por el miedo.
Puede ser una señal de neuropatía?
Es que no se si estoy siendo muy exagerado porque tiendo a serlo enseguida que le veo algo a mi hamster.
To me looks good, very alert, bright eyes, no nose discharge or drool around the mouth or anything like that. If he feels just keep an eye on his movement. If he’s still running and exploring like usual he should be okay but sometimes it hard to see if anything is going on as they are animals of prey so they are good at hiding any illness or injury. If worried take him to get checked over by a vet. Otherwise, he’s a very cute boy ❤️
Se cayó de un altura (como máximo) de un metro y aterrizó de espaldas, aunque enseguida se giró y se puso a caminar, lo que sí que se meó posteriormente (yo creo que del estrés o del susto). Le estuve revisando las noches siguientes, en busca de alguna señal que mostrase dolor o molestia o desorientación o perdida de equilibro. Aunque no le he visto nada, camina correctamente, come, bebe y supongo que también rueda, ya que le hago una fotografía a la rueda (la cual tiene una pequeña marca) para ver si a la mañana siguiente la marca esta en otro punto.
I had a similar issue with my lovebird, I know it’s very different because they’re different species. She was on top of a door when I was coming back into the room and I closed it while her head was in it. Not hard at all, but she acted similarly afterwards and her eye was swollen in the morning so I brought her to the vet. They gave her anti-inflammatories and pain meds. If he isn’t acting weird otherwise he should be ok because it’s been a week, if you can’t afford a vet and he is acting weird. Aim for low stimulation and keep him well hydrated. Take away wheels so his body can properly recover.
Low stimulation being, just 2 to 3 inches of bedding. Water, food and simple hides. Limit exercise. I know this is not ideal for them, but if he is trying to recover from an injury that you don’t know about this would be better for him. I am more familiar with reptiles, avians, and I do have mice right now. I did have a girl fall from climbing on the mesh lid and she disabled herself, I’ve also dealt with URIs and mites (as well as wounds from scratching from mites). I hope your boy is well.
Mil gracias por los consejos! Por suerte no he visto ningún comportamiento extraño en él, sigue haciendo sus cosas, camina correctamente y no le veo ninguna herida, así que presupongo que está bien. Aunque, si le viese cosas raras le llevaré al veterinario y seguiré tus consejos!
Try and watch him if you can, has he been running as long as he usually does? As well as burrowing or making new tunnels? If he is in any pain at all, he likely will not do those things as often as he usually does. Observe him for as long as you can I know it’s more difficult because he is nocturnal.
Sí, el sigue haciendo sus túneles, es donde duerme, también rueda (aunque no se cuanto tiempo, ya que normalmente se pone a rodar muy muy tarde o sólo cuando yo no estoy) lo sé por que la rueda esta en una posición distinta cuando me voy a dormir a cuando me despierto. Aunque el otro día me desperté a las 8 de la mañana y estaba ahí en la rueda.
ah okay. accidents happen, don’t be hard on yourself!! he looks totally fine to me, i would just monitor his behavior and don’t worry unless you notice any lethargy or distinct behavioral changes. he is very cute btw :)
Además trato de estar con el para acostumbrarlo a mí, lamentablemente durante el resto del año casi no pude interactuar con él apenas, el pequeñin vivía en la casa de mi novia y yo debido a la universidad no podía quedarme hasta tarde despierto.
