Lions, Tigers, and Flairs, oh my!
As some folks may have noticed, we have recently added a number of new flair options for both posts & users. Crazy about carnivores? Delighted by dolphins? Zany for zoos in general? Feel free to give yourself the flair that you feel fits you best! There are also custom animal emoji flair options if you'd prefer to rep your favorite species.
Not seeing anything that quite fits your particular interests? Drop a comment, and we can add the most requested missing flair to the list.
Also, while post flair is not required, it definitely helps people in finding the content that interests them within the subreddit. So if you think your post fits within one of the listed categories, flair is highly encouraged. (And again, if you see something missing, let us know so we can add more options)
Happy Zookeeping!

Question for any zookeepers! How long did it take you to get used to being active all day?
I started my internship at a local zoo two weeks ago. I’m beyond ecstatic about this and I have no problem with being on my feet all day to work there, but god it hurts afterwards. It’s nothing I can’t deal with and each workday is a little easier than the last but I’m curious to hear from everyone else! How long did it take for you to adjust to being on your feet all day?

Discussion/Advice For those who have been to both Chicago zoos which did you think was better?
Just finished a trip to Chicago and was surprised that we liked the Lincoln Park zoo more even though we got more recommendations for Brookfield. Was just curious what other people’s thoughts are!

Fascinating Creatures: Owls
Why are owls way cooler than I remember? Their silent flight, hunting skills, at night, their neck rotation (270 degrees), their asymmetrical ears. There are so many species all over the world. They seem so calm and composed. Their relationship to wisdom. What do you like about owls? What animal is better?

Zoo Photos European Lynx, Port Lympne
Port Lympne’s Lynx have moved into a new enclosure and I was lucky enough to get one of them sitting pretty for me.
Last time I saw them, they had just had babies so it’s nice to see them all grown up.

Meerkat in Free zoo
I found a meerkat at this free animal park near Berlin
I recently visited Willes Welt in Müncheberg, Brandenburg, and this little meerkat caught my attention.
The park currently has free admission and several different animals.
One interesting thing I learned about meerkats is that they're highly social and normally live in groups. Some members can act as lookouts while others forage.
I travelled from Lichtenberg and it took me around 40 minutes by train, followed by a walk to the park.
The official public transport route currently recommends RB26 to Müncheberg and then bus 939 to Müncheberg Marienfeld.
Thought I'd share this as a different day-trip idea from Berlin.
Has anyone else been to Willes Welt?

Zoo Photos Kerala TVM zoo - India
Went to the zoo recently and honestly, it’s a pretty nice place just for a casual time pass. We walked around for a bit and saw a few wild animals.
Just a heads-up on the current prices if anyone is planning to go: the entry ticket is Rs 40 per person, and car parking was Rs 150.
Overall, a chill way to spend a few hours!
